The life that one finds themselves with is the life that in one way or another, they have “chosen;” even if in ways in which he or she does not presently understand. The experiences and conditions of the lifetime are of one’s own “creation.” Quite often, this “choosing” is more from an unconscious space than conscious awareness; life does not have to be this way.

When my mate al grandmother, Dora, was a child, she came to America from a tiny village in Eastern Europe. One of my fondest memories of her was that she made amazing blintzes, thin crepe-like pancakes filled with savory cheese. When I was a little boy I’d visit her in the Bronx in New York City, and we’d walk together to the store, my small hand in hers, to get fresh ingredients. Then we’d go back to her apartment and I’d watch her make my beloved blintzes. She never followed a recipe. Everything she made was by eye or by heart. The best part of all was eating them.
As most of us have experienced at one time or another it is all too easy to allow one aspect of life to take precedence over all others. As an example, we get so caught up in our work that we ignore the other equally important aspects of life without realizing the impact it has on our family, relationships, health and overall well-being. Balance is the key. When we have balance we give equal importance to every aspect of life. Yes, there are times when one aspect takes precedence over the others, however it is only when there is something pressing or needs extra attention that we do so.
One's philosophy is not best expressed in words; it is expressed in the choices one makes... and the choices we make are ultimately our responsibility. – Eleanor Roosevelt Whatever happens, take responsibility. - Tony Robbins
I believe that we all want to be of service in some way. We all want to help others. And maybe we are clear about how we share our gifts. Or maybe we need a bit of guidance to figure out what we can give, see what our talents are, and learn how others could benefit from them. I was filling out some paperwork yesterday for an authors' program that I am a part of. I came upon the question, "What can you do to help others?" That is - what gifts do you have to offer that are unique and beneficial?
Can you think of a belief that you have that really is outdated or no longer serves you or maybe never really was your belief in the first place? Let's say when you were very young you were afraid to jump off of the high dive at the swimming pool. And from that moment on, you were known as the scaredy cat by your friends and family. Before that, you didn't feel particularly afraid in other areas of your life, but every time you heard this label, it reinforced this notion that you were afraid of life and timid and weak somehow. And this became part of your identity.
rnWhen a man who is blind since his birth is asked to explain a colourful flower, what will he do? He will most probably explain his assumption about flowers that he has never seen, that he has never realized. He will merely play with his fantasy of imaginations. This is the situation with most of us when we talk about God. We claim that we are theists, but have we ever realized Him ourselves? Our knowledge of God is nothing, but, the borrowed belief from scriptures, religiou
"In the beginning stages of meditation, you are in control, you are doing meditation and this is the way it is supposed to be. You are awakening the Shakti (subtle energy) or consciousness until that experience becomes dominant in your awareness. You are actively awakening that which is beyond body and mind until that which is beyond body and mind becomes a powerful presence in your day to day experience. It is then when surrender happens. Whatever arises in consciousness gets surrendered back into consciousness. Whatever thoughts or emotions ariser
I Became A Seeker By Danielle Gault After my hometown experienced a devastating flood, most of the town’s people were traumatized and feeling the strain of recovery, which was worse than the flood itself. Losses such as photos, family heirlooms, and other memorabilia left them adrift about their place in life. My husband, David, and I were included among those feeling the strain. Ours was an emotional split not caused from the flood, but from housing family members who were
Choosing is like breathing. You do it – indeed, you must do it – all day, every day. Whether waking or sleeping, whether deliberately or habitually, whether in matters big or small, you live by continuously choosing. You are always choosing – what to do next, what to do now, what to do if, ...

"There is a direct method to self realization. And that is to close your eyes and notice what is here beyond all thinking. Beyond any thought there is a subtle experience of existing. You can feel it. If you give your complete focus to this feeling of existing then this feeling expands very quickly. Infinite consciousness that seems asleep inside of you awakens very quickly. But what happens is thinking pulls you out of it. So many thoughts arise to grab your attention and bring you back into thought identification. The mind wants you to remainr
The subconscious is the best professor and doctor that you could ever find. The wise subconscious mind produces your dreams in order to protect your mental health and help you develop your intelligence, toward you becoming a genius. A dream basically reveals the dreamer's mistakes, also what you must do to correct them.
We often meet many people in our daily lives, without really being able to say that we know them well. Knowing someone's routine does not mean that you really know him. It often takes time to stop and talk to each other for more than five minutes. Same for a first date. Not always obvious what to ask as questions to truly satiate the person in front of you. There are classic questions, but after knowing what he/she does in life, where he/she comes from and what are his or her
The following information is excerpted from my first book entitled: What’s’ This Life For? You can get a free introductory download of this publication on my website… There are literally countless belief frameworks in which to choose from to live one’s life by. In many of these cases, the “belief framework” would not be perceived and interpreted as such; instead, it would be perceived and interpreted as actual conditions of reality. Still yet, there are also those who naturally live their best life without any conscious deliberation of the matter at all.
Dreams in most cases are messengers from the subconscious. We as humans are inundated with a terrific amount of information on a daily basis that we can't possibly process all. The stuff we don't deem as important at the moment is filed away into our subconscious to be accessed at a later date ...
Getting around to thinking about what your ideal life would look like and committing that vision to paper is difficult, if not impossible, to do when you’re pretty much in a rut. Every day starts to look a lot like the one before and you’re so bogged down in the minutiae of the ...
Ask me to define astrology and I would say it's the world's oldest "science." An astrologer does use an agreed upon classification system and has very precise measurements when drafting a "horoscope", but I also see the interpretation of the horoscope as a creative and imaginative art form. The horoscope is to an astrologer much like the microscope is to a biologist, an instrument that allows you to see things that are not readily visible.
Hypnosis is a powerful medical tool. Mayo Clinic devotes an area to the use of hypnosis. The primary reason is that it works. Of course, placebos also work. This is probably the reason that the hypnosis is so effective in many areas of medicine. Just like the placebo, the belief of a healing enters the mind and when it's strong enough, the healing occurs. Originally, hypnosis was primarily for the treatment of pain. Often birthing centers offered the option of hypnosis to the soon-to-be mother to relieve the pain of the contractions.
When you feel like you are weak or a victim, you have aligned yourself with illusion. For instance, when you place consistent focus on traits about yourself that you consider to be "negative" or "weaknesses," this action leads you to believe that you do not have any power. In reality, you have ...
I was reading last night about how energy is contagious - just like the common cold. And while we take many precautions to protect ourselves from getting sick when we come in contact with others (such as washing our hands), we don't always take precautions to protect ourselves from taking on other people's energy. And this passing along of energy works in both ways - positive and negative. The Passing of Energy Example 1:r
Self inquiry is one of the most powerful and effective meditation techniques used by thousands of people all over the world. Taught by the enlightened Guru, Ramana Maharshi, this meditation technique alone has helped many people experience profound states of meditation, samadhi and even self realization.
Find in yourself love for yourself! (Self – love inspiration) Is it not strange that you can give almost all to others, and almost anything you do not get from yourself? Do not you feel used? That others take so much from you, and you do not take so much from them? Do others see in you the fulfillment of everything you need, and you can not give it to yourself? Why does your heart love everyone (outside) and do not love you? Does your heart simply not like you? Ask for a sentence. "My heart: do you love me?"r
Honoring my truths is a fancy way of saying surrender. It is to unconditionally accept the truth of the moment, no matter how much it makes me want to spit, run, or fall to my knees. It took me a long time to sit with that inner burn of acceptance. But little by little, as my own smoke cleared, my mind began to notice how that burning and chu ing recycled itself into my own personal rocket fuel. With baby steps, I practiced being with the burn of acceptance, and I got better and better at it.
In spite of all the economic woes the world is dealing with right now, there is still the basic truth that we could all find justifiable joy within our own lives, if we so chose. There is much joy in life which can be considered justifiable. Yet, joy, in its very essence, has absolutely no need to be justified. Joy is an innate contentment, in spite of circumstance, happenings, or events that swirl around our lives on a daily basis.
How can walking and chewing gum be dangerous you ask? Let me back up a bit and explain my point. I have had many meetings with individuals where either they or I were engaging in this dangerous activity. Ok, so we were not literally walking and chewing gum, but we were attempting to multi-task. I am here to propose that you canât multi-task; you only have the ability to focus on one activity at a time effectively. I know many of you are going to say, âNo way! I can do mul

How often have you compared yourself to someone that you admired and thought that you would never be able to accomplish what they have? How often have you stopped taking action before you even started because you convinced yourself that you couldn't possibly get your message out as effectively as they have? How often have you shied away from sharing your message because you assumed that they have already said pretty much what you were planning on saying anyway - so what was the point? You are you. There is only one you. And your voice needs to be heard. It deserves to be heard.

We are each given so many options every single day in our lives. And we have the opportunity to travel along the same path or mix things up a bit and go down a different route. While these choices are wonderful, we may sometimes feel overwhelmed by them. We may start to feel scattered and find ourselves retreating into the known instead of embracing the new. This is where I am today. I have so many wonderful new options in my buffet of life. And I really want to step out of my comfort zone and try some new options.
Nondual spiritual teachings suggest that there is no doer, that there is no separate self that is the source of our actions. This teaching is the source of much confusion, as it is contrary to our experience. It seems that there is a doer and that I am the doer: get up in the morning, walk the dog, and drive to work. How do these things happen if there is no doer? And if there is no doer, then what do I do? How do I live my life if there is no one here to live it? What do I d
Ever since I was a child, Iâve always been intrigued by the idea of hidden treasure. I donât know if I was stranger than other kids (I suspect I was), but I used to daydream quite a bit about secret passageways in our house. In my imagination I would discover (or even construct) the secret passageways and show them to other kids. Hidden within our walls was a network of roller-coaster-like tracks, and I could ride around on them in a cart to any part of the house I chose.
Are Americans more susceptible to depression or are they just less able to handle the frustrations that come with daily life? Certainly the antidepressant is not new, but it seems to have in many ways become a staple within a newly defined food group, a food group that includes our daily multi ...
Continuous personal growth involves a lifelong of reflecting, connecting, and learning which enhance our understanding of who we are, the world around us, and provide us with more and better opportunities to improve our quality of life. To be able to improve we have to accept that something about us needs to be changed, and when we are ready to unlock the perceptions that we have created over the years, then we can start living a joyous life of change and growth. âThe real

"You do not need to get rid of resistance. You do not need to get rid of negativity, or insecurity. You do not need to get rid of thinking or anything at all. The simple act of observing what is here, of consciously accepting and watching your experience in this moment is all that is needed. Just by observing your experience in this moment you transcend it. You transcend the duality of good and bad, right and wrong and enter into the essence of this moment that has no opposite. You enter into peace that has no opposite, silence that has no opposite,r
In the smog and rat race of our brave new world, have you ever set time aside to reflect and wonder if you could change or at least learn from your past? Do you even think it is possible to learn from your mistakes? Do you even remember your mistakes?n nWhat if I told you there was a way to step back in time and reflect on your past and create a future that insures you don't make the same mistakes again, would you like to try it? It will take as little as 5 minutes and on the
Opening our hearts to live and love to our fullest potential may not be as easy as it sounds. Many people have been hurt so deeply, that this pain closes us down in such a way that we cut ourselves off from fully feeling. Knowingly or unknowingly we build walls around ourselves that harden our hearts. However, we can crack the shell around the hardened heart in many different ways: yoga, meditation, spiritual practices, dance, music etc....to awaken ourselves to the connectivity we can all share.
What is Meditation? This is a tricky question because meditation is beyond the understanding of the mind. Meditation could even be said to be the recognition of what you are beyond the mind and body. Beyond thinking, there is a sense that you exist. Not existing as a name or person, but as the simple experience of being without definition or description. When someone asks “what is meditation?” you could almost say meditation is the recognition that “I am,” yet even the “I” in that sentence will disappear in meditation. So then we are left with “am:” the essence of being.
The topic of image seems to be up for me these days, and that leads me to believe it may be up for some of you as well. I invite you to go on this journey of discovery with me if it calls to you... My question to you today is "What is the image you (think you) project to the world?" Here's ...
There are so many definitions of love. It’s mostly subjective and yet, there are some absolutes to it, at least in this author’s perspective. The absolute love I speak of is that which allows each and every person on this earth to be exactly who they are, with their faults, quirks, and opinions. It allows them to make their own choices and to learn from their mistakes, not out of apathy from our side, but out of a sense of respect for that person in making those choices.
Our personal paradigms are formed when we are young and often continue into adulthood. They are the beliefs and basic perceptions we have of the world and how it works. Some paradigms are good and support a successful mindset, while others keep you from achieving your goals. If you have a belief that the world is full of opportunity and that everyone has the ability to succeed, you will have more motivation and ambition to realize your dreams. However, if your paradigm dictat
“The commitments we make to ourselves and to others, and our integrity to those commitments, nis the essence and clearest manifestation of our proactivity.”nn~ Stephen R. Coveynfrom “The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People” Do you honor your commitments? Are you making commitments you don’t want to make or have no intention of following thru on? Pay attention to what you’re committing to and to whom you’re making those commitments. As Covey says, your integrity to the
"In meditation everything gets stripped down to its essence. All of these seemingly different things, the body, the mind thoughts, emotions, consciousness, outer objects, are revealed to be one thing. And it is not a thing, but rather, it is energy, fluid, moving, conscious energy. And with awareness you begin to recognize this flow of energy. You begin to taste the peace and the bliss that is a result of this flow. So another way to look at meditation or whatever spiritual process you practice is that you are fully awakeningr
Everybody gets older sooner or later, and trying to stave off the aging process is like trying to stop the sun from rising and setting every morning and evening. Nevertheless, aging can be a difficult process that isn’t always easy to accept, particularly if you’re feeling unhappy and don’t know how to begin changing your life for the better. You shouldn’t content yourself to wallow in unhappiness as you get older but should instead be taking active steps to improve your lif
When you think of hypnosis, you automatically get one of two mental pictures. Either you see the evil Svengali character making people do his bidding or you picture an audience in a nightclub bouncing around squawking like a chicken. In reality, hypnosis is more the second than the first and has medical and psychic benefits. According to Mayo Clinic, hypnosis is useful to quit certain habits, work with pain management but also treat ailments such as high blood pressure, migraines, asthma, and even treat warts, psoriasis and dermatitis.
