How many people who have learned Reiki just focus on your positive side and ignore your negative side? Shadow Self is your dark side, negative aspects within a person. This is one area that you can not ignore and needs to be faced. Everyone has a dark side. The best way to find out exactly how you are is to meditate and really see without ignoring what you don’t like or want to pretend your not.
Each of us is really like three people in one: the soul, the subconscious, and the conscious self. Every thought, feeling, word and action is an expression of one or more of these ‘selves.’ We need to become increasing aware of each of these, and then develop the discrimination to be able to consciously choose which to express in each situation. Just to give an idea of what these three levels of our being include, consider these characteristics:
In today’s post, I am going to talk about the relationship between our self-presence, body healing and our increasing power at co-creating a life in harmony with Divine Intent.
nThe chakras are portal or structures which help to channel and integrate subtle energies into the physical body. The body has 7 primary chakras but over 2000 secondary ones which help to direct and hold the integrity of our 3 main elements – mind, body and spirit. Since the flow of this triad is always shifting, directed by our intent and consciousness, so too must the chakra system recalibrate and find new points of balance which each shift. In other words, just as ou
This week I have been revisiting a book written by Pema Chodron, called “When Things Fall Apart”. I read this book a few years back when my Mom passed away. It helped me to realize that life isn’t about trying to reach a place of lasting pleasure, in order to avoid pain, but to accept that we will experience both pleasure and pain, throughout life. I have to be reminded of this often, otherwise I find myself in what Buddhism calls samsara; a hopeless cycle that goes round and round.
There’s a strange saying going around my house. Perhaps you may have heard it too? It sounds a bit whiny and even nasal at times. Often it’s followed by a gasp, annoyed intonation or a rolling of the eyes. Yes, you guessed it, it sounds like this: “But I don’t feel like it!”

Tomorrow is Valentine’s Day once again. There are those who decry this day as a made up, commercialized holiday designed to sell cards, candy, flowers, jewelry and formal dinner dates. For those folks I remind them of the legitimate historical roots of love and truth in the life of the real man who inspires bold romantic actions today. St. Valentine did exist and can be researched in any way you choose. I also suggest some context:
Metaphysics say it. Science says it: the Universe is made out of energy. We are energy. All is energy. When a baby is born, he (let’s talk about he for the sake of speed) is totally open. Energy (good and bad) flows through him without any protection; this is why it is advisable to keep the baby in the safety of the family home for a little while right after the birth – so that he is not exposed to negative energetic influences.
Consciousness heals. We know that since Freud's time. Consciousness allows those parts that got repressed, denied and 'forgotten' to be recovered so that you can become more whole.Consciousness is like a light that you shine on the dark areas of your subconscious. As you bring the events that ...

Osama, William and Kate By Laurie Pappas PhD Every once in a great while, something happens that captures my undivided attention and begs me to contemplate its significance. For me, this is the simultaneous occurrence of two very different events – events that are poles apart in nature, and that have the power to attract global attention. These are, of course, the killing of Osama Bin Laden and the royal wedding. To me, when we witness such synchronicity, there is always something to learn. So here are my thoughts.
Magic for me is that instant recognition of connection, which includes flow, love, compassion, giving and receiving equally, respect, learning, self-awareness, consciousness, peace, solace, silence, creativity, laughter, joy, freedom, balance, gratitude, acknowledgment, simplicity, faith, being OK with the unknown and uncomfortable times, meaning, insight, purpose, and risks. I turn to my Random House dictionary that it tells me magic is the art of producing a desired result through the forces of nature.

Call forth the Light that is you. That is living heaven on earth! My friend Dorothy died on a Sunday afte oon after a very long and challenging illness. When the call came, I heard the news with such relief. She was finally released from a body that had presented her with major challenges for most of her 62 years. While sad that our many years of crazy adventures were really over, I felt such a lightness in my heart knowing her new-found freedom. Before going to bed that night, I went into meditation to wish her well for her journey.
Women, since childhood, were raised with a desire to be a princess, not a saint. Men want to be rock stars or athletes, not holy men. What kind of impossible values do we live by? How many happy princesses or rock stars do you know? Elvis? Marilyn Monroe? Judy Garland? Michael Jackson? I used to be a rescuer. I would find a damsel in distress and save her. That made me a hero, didn’t it? You’d think so. But, after a little counseling for a broken heart and lost marriage, I could see clearer and got the picture. It seems that the rescue mission is about three beings:r
I had know God’s love through its many manifestations: my husband, the myriad of other Souls who came and went in my life, even my cats. But it was never enough. I wanted to know God directly, up close and personal. Metaphorically-speaking, I would shake my fists at the sky and cry for God-Realization. After one prolonged period of trying every technique I knew, I fell into bed one night with God on my mind and I was given the following dream as I slept. I awoke in the dream
What do we have inside of us that becomes the greatest gift? It is the love of our Creator, the Divine Presence that lives within our heart. This World offers many temptations that others judge us for. These inner feelings, these moments of love and compassion can change our planet. What ...
As an ex-physician and scientist, I find it exciting to see spirituality and quantum mechanics physics melding into one in recent years. Of course intellectually we can acknowledge they have always been one – in the same way that we can all agree that duality is simply illusion. However, ...
I am all about making the complicated simple. My life shifted when I realized that my mind loves to complicate things. It was just programmed that way. Early on in childhood, to feel special and rewarded, I liked to solve complicated problems. My mind, being the powerful tool that it is, makes everything complicated, so I experience the high of feeling special and rewarded. Yet seeking the next high is what keeps me from experiencing what I really want.
Chilled air brushed my face and the backs of my hands while the sun warmed me. Shadows played across the landscape shifting to and fro as Earth rotated around Sun and breezes danced through the limbs and leaves of the trees. Rocks crunching under my feet and grinding against one another are the only sounds I heard at ...
There were three of us seated in the living room. The internet and cable was down so we were spending more time reading and talking. It was a good thing. Marion suggested that we all talk about the strangest metaphysical experience we have ever had. I thought to myself there were too many to count, but I would narrow it down to a few.

One of the world's most famous experts on mental health, Carl Jung had regular conversations with his 'imaginary' friend Philemon during his adult years. So how do we know if it's a person in spirit we're experiencing around us, or simply our imagination?r
When I heard what happened last Sunday evening, I could literally feel the emotions from around the world; some feeling great elation for the death of an enemy and some that were sending anger or even hatred towards Americans for this murderous act...and all these emotions made me sad. In that moment, I felt guided to send Compassion to all Beings everywhere.
In a scene from the movie Generations based on the series Star Trek: The Next Generation, Data, who is an android, has an “emotion” chip installed into his hard drive. For the first time in his life he was able to experience a vast array of emotions. His first stop was to sample a beverage in Ten-Forward, the ship’s pub. He pinched his face in an array of grimaces as he swallowed the liquid, trying to figure out what the proper response would be. Guinan the bartender chimed in that she thought he hated it. “YES! I HATE THIS!” he agreed enthusiastically in his detestation of the drink.
Meditation is often associated with either relaxation or spirituality. It can be either a relaxation technique or a spiritual practice - both of these are just specific applications of meditation. Meditation is a method of changing your state of consciousness. Many texts commonly refer to the three ‘normal’ states of human consciousness – waking, dreaming, and dreamless sleeping, and a fourth spiritual state of consciousness sometimes referred to a ‘transcendental’ state. There are in fact thousands of states of consciousness.
Meditation can be an enjoyable and natural part of your life. It doesn’t have to be an exotic activity with cushions, mats, postures, and strange words---unless that is your preference. It doesn’t have to come with “should’s,” “have-to’s,” or any rigid requirements that make it a chore. What is Meditation, Really?

Healing is a special gift that any human being can have. It is fortunate that we are provided with the opportunity to acknowledge and develop it. There is no difference from any human being performing healing and Christ healing. The only difference is if you belong to a large institution like a Catholic church where healing is sometimes defined as a miracle. Many great healers came into our plane and performed their miracles, such as Edward Cayce, Harry Edwards and many other
So then, what are Mystical Secrets? Metaphysics, meaning beyond the physical senses, covers a lot more territory tha I can possibly cover in any ten books. I will only be covering the most practical of these aspects. Merriam Webster gives us this definition of mystical: Having a spiritual meaning or reality that is neither apparent to the senses nor obvious to the intelligence. Involving or having the nature of an individual’s direct subjective communion with God or ultimate reality.
The date is March 22, 2012. I am in Los Angeles for a big event called "Conception Day." It is the celebration party for Barbara Marx Hubbard's New Book called Birth2012, and it's being broadcast to 22,000 people. The show begins in a hour, but I am not mingling like everyone else. I am searching everywhere to find a hidden, sound-proof place where I can warm up my voice and practice the song I was asked to perform. I end-up in the stairwell of the parking garage. It's star
On average children laugh 400 times per day and adults only laugh 15 times per day. I don’t know the source of this statistic or its accuracy but, I believe it is probably true. Like me, you probably know many adults who would be very hard pressed to come anywhere near 15 laughs per day. What does the number of times we laugh in a day indicate? Happiness, joy, humour?
Recently I attended my high school class reunion. Back in high school there were groups, njust as there are in most high schools today. I was on the fringes of the group thatnincluded most of the popular kids. I was shy and didn't really feel a part of that group. When I think about it, it wasn't ...
As a child you may have seen or heard your parents talk about debt. You may have felt that when you grow up, debt is a requirement for adulthood because everyone has it, and it’s apart of life. You mat not realize just how much children can be affected emotionally at a young age. This can influence them for the rest of their lives. Resemblance to your parents You may have grown up with different ways of behaving when it comes to spending your money and accumulating debts. You may not see the impacts of these behaviours.
So who’s not busy in their lives right now! So many things to do, bills to pay, things to organise. We are lucky if we even get a decent full night’s sleep any more. Yet if we could just take that momentous decision to stop, reflect and pay attention to ourselves, we might just begin to start ...

My friend, Fletcher Millmore, is a British car mechanic and a philosopher. He was explaining an observation of his to me the other day. Fletcher does a lot of driving and one day while traveling down an empty highway, he started looking at skid marks on long stretches of road. Nothing for miles except telephone poles hundreds of yards apart and all the skid marks pointed to the telephone poles. "Odd", he thought. What is this about? Then Fletcher told me that he remembered th
