A seldom considered problem for many women suffering from infertility and many other symptoms stems from physical displacement of the uterus. Even medical professionals in the United States who recognize this problem rarely have been able to address it outside of surgical procedures and or drugs. These invasive treatments often have painful side effects and for many are prohibitively expensive.

Specific types of massage can be used for women who suffer the symptoms of a displaced uterus. By using external, non-invasive manipulation the reproductive organs can gently be repositioned. The uterus can shift in the pelvis from day-to-day physical stress or physical and emotional traumas throughout our lives. Many begin early as the results of childhood falls or high-impact activity such as running, horseback ridding and gymnastics.

My personal story began at age 5 when I started many years of gymnastics and dance. I had also been in several accidents (all of which are possible causes for loss of tonus to uterine ligaments). As a teenager during a routine pelvic examination my family doctor diagnosed me with a “tipped” or displaced uterus. Somehow I mustered up enough courage to ask what this meant. He explained that it was nothing to worry about, that I would most likely have painful periods and experience discomfort during intercourse. Nothing to worry about! He also mentioned possible infertility. I, like so many other women facing this diagnosis, was told my only recourse was surgery.

Something inside me felt there had to be something that would help if I continued to search. Many years latter I was fortunate enough to come across massage techniques to strengthen my uterine ligaments and return my wandering womb. I was amazed that a simply massage released over 12 different signs and symptoms I had struggled with since my first menses. Not only was massage effective but I noticed the changes very quickly.

In only the first month of performing a daily self care massage over half my symptoms disappeared (the first being painful periods that I had experienced for years). The second month another four left for good and by the third month I had none. There are actually over 35 female (and other) aliments can be traced back to a displaced uterus. Similar aliments in men can also be related to swelling of the prostate that can be helped by these same techniques.

When reproductive organs shift (or the prostate swells in men), this can constrict normal flow of blood, lymph, hormone and nerve connections. Just a few extra ounces sitting on blood and lymph vessels can cause havoc throughout the different systems in the body. By shifting the uterus back into place, homeostasis, or the natural balance of the body, is brought back into the pelvic area and the surrounding organs. Toxins are flushed and nutrients that help tone the tissue and balance the hormones are restored to normal order. This is essential for healthy pregnancy, labor and delivery. Old adhesions from invasive treatments to the pelvic and abdominal area including fibroid tumors, DNC and cesarean delivery are diminished when addressed with this abdominal massage. This type of massage is also helpful in preventing prostate swelling in men and increasing blood flow to the pelvic region.

In addition digestive, urinary, and bladder problems can also be helped. Many anxieties and emotions through life are stored in our body's tissues and organs. A very common place is in the organs of the digestive system. Those so called "butterflies in your stomach" can lead to constipation, indigestion, heartburn, gastritis, and eventually to Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), Gastro Esophageal Reflux (GERD), Crohn's and more.
Stresses and emotions cause the small intestine and colon to be "twisted or kinked" leading the blockages in the flow of peristalsis. Surrounding fascia creates adhesions that mal-position organs and impede proper blood flow and enzyme secretions. Specific massage helps to break down facial adhesions, scar tissue and removes any "kinks" in the digestive tract. Often there is a dramatic improvement after just one session when combined with proper diet and self-care.

This is a holistic approach and may not be appropriate or right for everyone. However, the cost is minimal and the effects can last a lifetime. Some signs and symptoms of a displaced uterus;
