Good Morning! I've been approached by many folks in the past few months to help them nail down how they are creating and monetizing the services and products they offer.

Where I typically find a break down is when folks create products and serices to simply make revenue, instead of looking at what problem they are trying to solve and then go after products and services that solve THAT problem and customize those solutions to their unique personality and work style.

I wanted to take a minute this morning to discuss and offer some tips for those of you who are reviewing what you offer and how you can monetize it in a way that is natural and comfortable to you.

Ten Steps to Monetizing Your Ideas, Your Time, and Your Relationships

1. Figure out what problem you want to solve in the world.
2. Look at what experience you have that has solved the problem your are most passionate about in the past. Whether you were directly responsible for the solution or not, do not diminish your part of delivering the solution...
3. Understand it takes more than 1 person to solve a problem and look at what other resources, people tools, and education you will need to collaborate with to deliver what you consider a real solution to the problem you are most passionate about.
4. Don't get overwhelmed by the "big-ness" of your vision, it's really not that big when it's broken down.
5. Map out who you will need to help you deliver your solution.
6. Understand what others want and give them that opportunity inside your vision.
7. Be of service to others in every interaction you have.
8. Don't believe that asking for help means you not an Expert, it means you are a SMART expert who knows how to collaborate
9. Don't forget this truth: people buy because of a perceived solution being delivered, but they also buy from those who can connect them to others in a powerful way. Don't lose the deal because you are not connected, your competition isn't.
10. Create a document that outlines ALL that you offer, including price and description. Would you eat at a restaurant that had no menu?
