Most people who wish to lose weight are usually confused whenever they read conflicting opinions about carbohydrates and its effect on weight loss. Thus, I want to clear all misunderstandings about this topic through this article.

Although I am not a great supporter of diets with nearly zero carbohydrates intake such as the Atkins diet, I believe that one of the key reasons many obese people remain overweight is due to them eating too much of refined and processed carbohydrates like white bread or pasta. Even if you were to exercise at a really high level of intensity, losing body fat will still prove to be very difficult if you were to over consume such types of carbohydrates! Additionally, over-eating will also increase the amount of calories consumed, resulting in a higher probability of one getting into a calorie surplus, an extremely detrimental result for your weight loss goals!

Even among the carbohydrates which people believe are great and healthy foods are actually calories which do not consist of any particular significant nutrients! Such foods, especially breads, usually claim that they are made from 'whole grains' and are not processed carbohydrates. However, if you were to take a closer scrutiny at the ingredients label, you will definitely notice that the main ingredient used is refined flour! This will increase the blood sugar levels in one's body, resulting in an insulin spike, which is in direct contrast to what we are trying to achieve when losing weight.

If you are still looking for answers to a great diet, try the following tips.

First, as you are used to taking in great quantities of carbohydrates, you can try replacing them with other healthy foods like avocados or nuts! Organic eggs and baked almond nuts are also great alternatives. Such foods will be able to help you keep your calorie intake in control, and keep your insulin levels low.

Next, you should try to take in most of your daily carbohydrates from sources like vegetables or sweet potatoes rather than foods like bread or pasta.

If you choose to consume grains, then ensure that you eat the healthiest part of the grain, and that is the rice bran and wheat germ instead!

You also need to understand that everybody's body type is different, and thus have different levels of sensitivity to carbohydrates intake. People with naturally higher metabolism will be more tolerant to carbohydrates intake before gaining weight, while someone with a slower metabolism should take much less levels of carbohydrates to lose fats effectively.
