Many people often link healthy food with being tasteless, as well as unappetizing. However, just because some foods are healthy does not mean it cannot be delicious too. The following are descriptions of four healthy foods which are nutritious and tasty as well!

The first food I am going to introduce to you is cinnamon. Most people only eat cinnamon when they consume those sticky and sweet cinnamon buns. Research done by the USDA involving those who were diagnosed with Type Two Diabetes showed that blood sugar and cholesterol levels decreased for those people who added two grams of cinnamon daily to their diets over a period of six weeks. Cinnamon contains methylhydroxychalcone polymers that can help your body process sugars more efficiently. You can easily add cinnamon to your breakfast simply by putting it in oatmeal or even in your coffee!

Next, beets are one of the most nutritious foods you can ever have. Folate and betaine decrease homocysteine levels in your blood, and they are both present in beets. Homocysteine is believed to be one of the causes of artery damage which can lead to heart disease. You can therefore lower the risk of developing such heart diseases simply by eating more beets. Beets have also been proven to be capable of fighting cancer in studies of lab mice. Beets are at their most nutritious when eaten raw.

The third food is goji berries. Tibetan people have a long history of using the goji berry as a form of medicine. Research has proven that goji berry, which is about as small as a raisin, contains more antioxidants than any other types of fruit. Studies have also shown that the goji berry helps diabetes sufferers by lowering their levels of insulin.

The last food is cabbage. Cabbage is widely consumed in both Europe and Asia and is increasingly gaining in popularity in America too. It contains the chemical sulforaphane which is believed to reduce the chance of cancer. Enzyme production is increased which slows down any damage to cell and and aids in fighting off free radicals as well. One way to incorporate it into your diet is to shred it and use it as a bread filling or burger topping. Otherwise, you can create a lovely side salad by combining shredded carrots and beets.
