Security threats for a computer

Virus: A computer virus is a computer program that can create multiple copies of itself. It is basically a self executable file that don't need  permission from a user to execute and it can create a large number of unnecessary files and create problems in the user's system. A virus  reproduce itself and spread quickly from one computer to another.

Lots of people talk about the potential threats of computer viruses and what a virus can do to a computer. Many computer viruses can corrupt files within a computer or damage important files beyond recovery. There are viruses too those are even capable of deleting your hard disk.

A virus need a medium to spread itself. It can spread via a removable disk or internet. A large number of viruses spread themselves via emails. It is capable of emailing itself to many users from a user's contact list. It is always good not to open emails from intrusted sources and not to click on the links in the emails.

It's important to use an antivirus software to keep your computer safe from security threats. Antivirus software is a software that is specially created for detecting viruses and deleting them from your computer. Trojan horse: Trojan is a destructive computer program. A trojan may seem like a software application for a user before execution or installation but its main purpose is to steal user's information. Trojans don't reproduce themselves but these trojans can also be quite destructive. A trojan is basically used to gain remote access on a target computer. A cyber criminal may use this program to retrieve passwords and other confidential information stored in a computer.

There are many different types of trojans such as remote access trojans, password sending trojans, key loggers, destructive trojans, denial of service attack trojans, proxy trojans, FTP trojans and FTP trojans. Each of them is specially created for a special purpose.

Computer worm: A computer worm is a kind of computer software that can create multiple copies of itself and send it to other computers in the network. There is a some difference between a computer virus and a computer worm, a virus attaches itself to another executable program where as a worm is a self executable file and don't need an executable program. A worm  sends itself to other computers without any help or intervention from a human user. Worms are usually spread across the network to consume bandwidth and slower the network at a larger degree.

Spyware: Spyware is a software installed in your computer and send your information to some other computer without your consent. Spyware is not a kind of big software, it is a part of a software which collects information from your computer and send it to the remote computer.

Some of the spyware record only minute details about you but some of these retrieve passwords and other confidential information from a computer. There are many ways to keep yourself safe from spyware. First of all, one should not install any software from any intrusted website or another intrusted source. Secondly, one can install anti-spyware tool for his computer.

Lastly, there are tons of destructive softwares over the internet and they can damage your computer. Always keep your computer security as a top priority and install a good antivirus in your computer.
