The Need for Landing Pages

Most people have heard the term, landing page, but might not know exactly what it means. This is a special type of sales page that a visitor is directed to when they click on a link from an advertisement or another website somewhere else on the web. This page is then designed to help to promote a single product or service that you are looking to sell.

Many times the landing page is designed to follow a particular event or provide information that plays on the interest of the website that it is being directed from. This is a clean page that grabs the interest of the visitor and gently guides them to make the sale.

Keeping it Simple

Of course, you do need to keep this page very simple when possible. Too often people will go over the top with these pages and make them distracting. You will want to keep imagery to a minimum and keep the product information focused. This means a concise piece of information is presented in a clear way (bullet points for example) that your readers know exactly what is being offered to them.

In most cases, the call to action that is used for a landing page is designed to have people react in a limited amount of time. This is often done by the terms, "limited time offer" or "low introductory rate". This lets the reader know they only have a short period of time to take full advantage of the new and fresh product or service you are offering.

Truth in Advertising

Keep in mind that some people will check back several times to determine the frequency that this information is updated. If you say there is only 12 hours left for a particular deal, then you will want to be sure that you update your landing page has a countdown timer to reflect this.

Your grammar and spelling should be top notch. This is a professional page that exemplifies the vision of your business and you need to ensure that it is reflected in a manner that conveys that concept. In addition to that, most people will avoid companies that don't appear to be written by someone in their native language. Hire a copywriter if necessary.

Most People are Visual

Remember that since most people are visual, you will want to ensure the words help you to sell by vividly expressing what the imagery represents. While too many pictures can be problematic, you will find that using bullets and bolded words will attract the interest of the reader. This in turn will make them consider your product and install key points in their mind that interests them.

What seems to sell more than anything else is video. Video landing pages engage the reader on many different levels. They provide both sight and sound which is more effective in creating a connection to the visitor. Video allows you to me more passionate, persuasive and more entertaining.

Above all, you will want to be sure that you do keep the content interesting. Urge the reader to gather more information about your product and guide them through the steps to becoming a life long customer. Keep in mind that this is a powerful marketing tool that if you choose to use it properly, can help to boost the overall sales on your website.
