If you haven’t yet recognized this fact, nothing good comes from being jealous. Jealousy is a deep-rooted emotion in the realm of pride. Jealousy damages relationships. Reasons for being jealous include: thinking we can’t have something… believing we aren’t good enough… lacking confidence and good self-esteem… non-trusting… and blaming others because we aren’t willing to take responsibility for how we feel. These habits and tendencies will continue to escalate in the realm of negativity until we finally confront one of the many aversions we are holding onto.

We are all too familiar with headline stories about people who are pushed to their limits and snap. Whether on the job, within their own families, or even children in school - everyone has their breaking point. In 2010, Omar Thorton, a 34-year old employee at the Hartford Beer Distributors in Manchester, CT, reportedly stole a truck. He was given the option of either being fired or resigning. He chose the latter. However, before being escorted out of the building, he pulled out a handgun and began firing. Two people were wounded, eight were dead including himself.
"The sharpest sword is a word spoken in wrath." (The Buddha). A little boy, prone to anger, was told by his father, "Every time you're angry, drive a nail in that wooden fence. When you've learned to control your anger, start removing them." Six months later, the boy had removed every nail he had driven. Triumphant, he showed the fence to his father. The father sadly pointed out, "See the holes? The fence will never be the same." I first heard this story several years ago and thought it a perfect analogy to the potential damage anger can have on another person.
Koren is furious that her son is being unfairly picked on As she drove to pick up nine year old Hector from school, Koren seethed with rage. She was confronted with a complaint that Hector was suspended from after school playground access for hitting another boy. Koren was mad at the playground supervisor for believing the other child rather than her son. She was furious that the supervisor allowed the incident to occur.
Life can change in a heartbeat. A few weeks ago, a family was stopped at a red light and rear-ended by a drunk driver. Their 10-year old son, Matthew, suffered a severe head trauma and is in a medically induced coma. The prognosis is not good and the family struggles to make sense of what was an act of sheer reckless endangerment. While hopefully many of us will never experience a trauma of this magnitude, we will all face some type of serious emotionally shock that we need to deal with.
Good Luck. How’s your luck running, by the way? Here’s the answer. Your luck is running as good as you decide it to be. Luck is the same energy as positive, abundant, loving, happy and grateful. You, who are living in those energies, are lucky. You are having good luck. To the ...
A good number of people believe that if they do everything right that will help them be happy. While others believe no matter what they do or don’t do, that they may never really have total happiness. Some people believe they must accomplish things like having a good education, living and working in the right communities, having enjoyable relationships with family and friends. Other folks believe that by eating the right foods will help them be healthier and therefore they will also be offered a higher level of happiness.
If I posed the question, "Who in your life has hurt you?", you might respond with, "Must I limit it to only one?" We've all been on the receiving end of someone's thoughtless behavior - their anger, sarcasm, back stabbing or betrayals. We've been hurt by those we know and love and even some that are complete strangers and it appears that we are powerless to stop them. Some tell themselves that they don't care if their boyfriend found someone else. After all, he's going to regret it when he finally comes to his senses and realizes you were the best thing that ever happened to him.
The adolescent years are essential in the expansion of kids. Sadly these are the years where kids experience some of their most difficult encounters. This specific period in a very child's life can take them down many methods, some of them not so enjoyable. Teen kids who are forced to accommodate upsetting circumstances often lash out. Developing a reckless angle is widespread in many teen children. When youth flip to emotions of anger and begin to act out, it may be time to
Have you noticed that when you get dressed up for a wedding or other extravagant event, that you feel like a million bucks? When we pull out our best suit and tie or our most beautiful dress, we also find that everything looks better.
This excerpt provided by Anonymous may give you some long overdue peace of mind. "People come into your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime. When you figure out which one it is, you will know what to do for each person.
No matter who we are or where we go in life, we encounter people who are struggling with personal issues and are not easy to engage with. They can prove challenging to deal for a variety of reasons. Often times, we feel ill-equipped to effectively deal with them. Some, feeling overwhelmed or unprepared, simply disengage and avoid any interaction at all. Others may become defensive or hostile toward them in an attempt to manage them or pressure them to change. Those who feel sympathetic, in an attempt to be supportive, can sometimes become enablers.
Is anger management really effective? That is a question asked by many with fairly limited information to support a non-subjective answer. Yes, there are numerous studies on anger management where the research has been published in a scientific jou als and reviewed by peers. Most of these reports have looked at segments of our culture that are incarcerated or who have committed violent crimes.
I have been busy with the media discussing the recent killing of seventeen year old Trayvon Martin in Sanford, Florida. A volunteer with a local neighborhood watch committee observed Martin walking alone wearing a “hoodie” sweatshirt draped over his head. The volunteer, George Zimmerman, called the local police to report a suspicious male who “looks like he's up to no good or on drugs or something.” The dispatcher inquired as to whether he was black, white or Hispanic.
Anger is one emotion we all have. Anger can be both a blessing and a curse. Those who get out of control with their anger are often described as having low emotional intelligence. Emotional intelligence (EQ) is the skill of being able to understand and regulate our emotions as well as sense and understand the emotions of others.
At some time in life, most people feel as though they've been treated unfairly to the extent that they would consider themselves a victim. Certainly those who have been the target of a violent crime fall into that category according to society's standards. Even those of lesser offenses can view themselves as the target of injustice: a faithful spouse who's partner has an affair or files for divorce; a child being tormented by a bully at school; one who has a rumor spread about them, particularly those that cause significant damage or distress.
There is something about the country of Tibet that has always intrigued me. Perhaps it's the beautiful landscape along crystal blue waters or the unique architecture of its oriental style buildings. Or more importantly a group of monks that call this country their home are known for their serene way of life. They seem unaffected by the modern day stresses and anger that the rest of us are subjected to while residing primarily in a state of bliss. What is the secret to their joy?
We all from time to time encounter situations that make it hard for us to remain calm, cool and collected. Some people are a bomb ready to go off at any second while other just go with the flow? What is it that we are trying to accomplish? Why do some things just make us go crazy while other things that bother the “coolest cucumber” just roll off like water off of a duck’s back? The answer here is once again, our friend, the “lizard brain”. Our reptilian brain is a very ins
Purging things out of our life by cleaning out closets, the garage, or filing cabinet are always wonderful ways of moving forward. In choosing to clean out areas of our life, we are deciding that we can be free of those unwanted items.
When disagreements arise there is always the possibility that they will escalate into an argument or fight. The very nature of dissension triggers feelings of uneasiness in the average person. Most of us struggle with some degree of insecurity. Contradictory ideas, needs, beliefs, ways of doing things, or opinions challenge us and may threaten our sense of safety or question our level of intelligence. Our natural response to any perceived threat is resistance - we fight to preserve our integrity, to get what we want, or to prove ourselves right.

Why is it so hard to talk to one another? Unless you're a recluse, it's something we all do every day. Perhaps because I'm a motivational speaker, author, and radio host I can talk ad infinitum. I actually find it enjoyable and relatively easy. Yet there is a significant difference between talking and communicating: talking involves only one person, communication includes at least one additional person. Although everyone is speaking the same language, it's not uncommon to become frustrated and angry with each other.
We all get angry at times and itâs perfectly normal. But some of us have a tendency to lose control over ourselves when we get really angry, and this is a serious problem. If you have an anger problem, people will think youâre very strong, formidable and dangerous. But the irony is that, itâs you whoâs the true victim, not the people you are taking it out on. nBeing someone who had an acute anger problem and is now completely cured, I can tell you, thereâs no need t
Elizabeth Kubler-Ross defined the five stages of grief in her 1969 book, On Death and Dying. Grief is a deeply personal process and each individual experiences it on their own terms. Some may endure all five stages, others only a portion; some progress in a seemingly reasonable period of time, for others the process is much slower. In any case, it is important to recognize that there is no right or wrong way to grieve and no time frame that is considered normal. It is equally important to understand that grief, like every other emotions, fluctuates.
What do we need to do to see ourselves in an entirely new way?! How about deciding what we would like to accomplish; then, pursuing our goal until it is positively achieved. Truly these are appropriate steps in any successful goals process. Regardless if the goal includes issues related to health, weight, finances or relationships, our attitude can greatly influence how we relate to the goals process.
Driving home from his last landscape design consult, thirty-three year old Craig’s stomach was in knots wondering if Sophie would have gotten over the row she had with her mother the other day. He felt bad for his wife who had tried and failed to arrange a family dinner, taking out her frustration on him. His temples began throbbing and his breathing became quick and shallow as he felt the overbearing sense of heaviness that came over him when he approached his front door.
When we look at the word “BLAME” what do we see? Well if were in apathy or grief, we may see our disapproving of someone or something. Or maybe we see our wanting control or that we see that we want to be safe. We definitely see our self wanting to be separate. If we are in fear, we are blaming another for how they made us feel. Here we are seeing through filters, otherwise known as victim’s programs. So blaming is showing us that we have LOTS of limitations and negativity.

Shoplifting is a crime that is committed for many reasons. Sometimes it is a crime of necessity when someone has few other options other than to steal in order to support themself. Sometimes it is part of a larger criminal network where stolen goods are resold. Often shoplifting is a crime that is committed when someone simply uses poor judgement. No matter what the reason for the crime, getting caught can mean serious consequences. Fortunately there is a solution that can help to rehabilitate the offender without forcing them to spend time in jail.
Many have heard of the “flight or fight” response identified by science as a protective reaction to stressors. Human beings like other species in the animal kingdom have innate responses that are designed to protect them. Sometimes, however, these natural reactions can have unnatural and unhealthy manifestations. Research has shown that not everyone has the same physiological response to stressors (Tyson, 1998). Some individuals have a heightened arousal from stressors.
I have two acres of beautifully landscaped property with colorful gardens. In each, I’ve planted a wide array of flora: roses, tulips, chrysanthemums, geraniums, daisies, sweet Williams, peonies, and others whose names elude me. One day, while preparing dinner in the kitchen, I heard voices outside. I wasn’t expecting company or the UPS guy so I ventured outside to see who was there. No one was visible yet the voices continued. I followed them around to the front of my house. Still, no one.
Call me old-fashioned, but I truly believe that when you marry, it should be with the intention of being with that partner for life. Sometimes I feel like my husband and I are a dying breed of dinosoars who can only stand by as our contemporaries drop like flies. In the year that I got married ...
Perhaps you’ll agree that absolutely nothing about stress feels good. Stress is basically feelings based on insecurities of not knowing what to do about any particular situation. Stress feels angry, confusing, and sad. Stress also feels anxious, irritating, depressed, and fearful. Sometimes these feelings are felt at the same time making it difficult to concentrate. The amount of stress that we create for ourselves is at times overwhelming. Although it is easy to take a walk and immediately begin to feel better; out of habit, we find it easier to pout, mope, and complain.
If you are the parent of a child who can at times be frustrating or rebellious, it can feel challenging when you are giving instructions, parenting or asking your child to do something that he or she refuses to do. You can learn to help yourself and to rid your anger by learning specific techniques on how to control your anger when your kids aren't living up to their full potential. This is possible by reading books and also by seeking help from a family counselor who is able to help with breaking communication barriers to improve the overall relationship you have with your child.

Bullying has been around since the dark ages. However, with the popularity today of social media such as Twitter and Facebook, a new form of bullying, namely cyber-bullying, has become a larger more global trend. Bullying is a very serious problem because it not only can affect the person physically, but emotionally as well. Some experts say that the emotional aspect is far more damaging because it can cause a lack of confidence, depression and anxiety in children and teens at a very vulnerable age.
So often we are so conce ed on focusing on what we don’t have that we forget to be grateful for all that we do have. Remember to be grateful for having a roof over your head that keeps you warm and cozy. Be thankful for the clothing and food that is available. Appreciate those that have helped you on your jou ey. Share your time, talents, and gratitude generously. Always say thank you for each day as everyday is a new beginning. At the end of the day, look back and take credit for all you’ve accomplished. Acknowledge your successes.
Emotional Brain Logic. The part of our brain that controls our emotions is located in an area of the brain called the sub-cortical region. You are unaware of most of the functions of your emotional brain. Scientists who have studied the emotional brain tell us that its main conce is self-preservation. Ever on the alert, the emotional brain constantly asks the primal question: “Is it safe?”
As a result of quitting smoking initially gained 6-pounds and decided that weight gain wasn’t acceptable. So I began working with the Release Technique® method on losing the weight as a result of my quitting smoking. Each week I released on my weight and on my being a non-smoker. Well, my weight started to drop. Initially the weight dropped by only a few pounds, and then a few more pounds, and over time a little more. Looking back at my overall results includes my being 37 pounds lighter and wearing pants that are 3-sizes smaller.
Continuing from where we left off last week, remember that there is a time to speak and a time to keep our mouths shut. Here are more examples of when it's best to remain silent:

Think about the last time you got angry. Example #1: Maybe, you were driving and another driver cut in front of you. If you immediately got angry, made an obscene gesture, or used language you wouldn’t want your five year old to repeat, it is safe to say that you reacted to the situation. When you act without thinking, you are reacting. Reacting often leads to regret for having done something you later wish you had avoided.

The current economic situation in the United States has been getting tougher by the day. Retaining a job, however well qualified you are, has been uncertain. And, for all those workers who have been laid-off in the past couple of years, getting another job has proven to be a monumental task.
A relationship or even a marriage can survive an infidelity from a cheating partner. However people need to realize that healing from unfaithfulness in a relationship is tough and excruciating work from both the cheating partner and the cheated person. Both parties must be fully committed to restore trust and be able to reconnect.
Domestic abuse is one of the most serious epidemics modern society faces today. With 1/3 of all women reporting incidences of violence in the home and/or in intimate relationships (this does not reflect the numbers that go unreported nor those of men being abused), no socio-economic group, nationality, gender or age is exempt from experiencing some form of cruelty in their relationships. Every day, in the US alone, three women (and one man) are murdered by their abusive partners.
