This confidence game isn't the same as the scam. This one applies to those who have been hunting with no results and are becoming discouraged. Rapidly. Let's go back to how most people search, because that's where the problem - or problems - are. Your cover letter neglects to tie you to the ad and your resume fails to entice. Or perhaps your cover letter sells and your resume is full of accomplishments, but you’re answering unrealistic ads. Or perhaps you’re targeting ads wisely, but being overly picky, forgetting that ads tell if you want to interview, not if you want to work there.

I get a lot of questions about how to go about setting up a shopping cart for websites, and how to figure out which shopping cart companies are reputable, so I thought I’d share some helpful tips. What Are You Selling? Are you selling a service (e.g. massage, coaching, spiritual retreat, etc) ...
Sometimes the answer we desire is in what we are forgetting. I was at a conference recently where we found our coach in nature. You know, you sit in front of whatever and you ask a question and wait to see what comes. The first time I talked with my coach, she very wisely guided me with an answer to my question, so I went back the next day with a question for which I desperately wanted an answer. I asked, I waited, I asked again. My coach appeared to be very quiet this day, so I decided to go on a long walk.
In December I promised to share my thoughts and practices on making declarations. Declarations can support a shift in our habits whether it is a habit in how we think, feel, or move. Declarations versus resolutions can be embodied... become a part of who we are versus something we just think we should do or be. The first step is to begin with how you desire to be. "For the sake of what" are you intending to be differently?
Rapport means making a connection. You can connect on many levels. The interview is to backup your resume and make a stronger connection about your ability to produce future results. It's also to see how you will fit in with the rest of the staff and work environment. Balancing Actr You need to make the interviewer "feel okay" about you and your abilities. You need to talk to the level of the open position so you don't appear over- or under-qualified. You need to talk to the level of the interviewer so he/she doesn't feel threatened about you coming on board.
Previously I wrote about "Forgetting my Purpose". July is about remembering where to find My Power. Acting from a place of power allows me to speak from my authentic self and accomplish what serves me as well as those around me. It takes courage to do this, but what I discovered last week is that only when I also allow myself to be vulnerable will I truly... even easily... realize my power.r

You’re doing the job. You’re delivering what you were supposed to. Despite all of that goodness, you don’t feel like you belong. Maybe it’s not one thing in particular or maybe it is a couple of glaring things, none of which seem monumental. You just continue to know that you don’t fit and you can’t put your finger on it. Could this be a problem with a cultural fit?
Science is proving that we can truly shift our emotions. Here are some of the latest findings from the brain/body researchers. When you launch your job search, the ocean of possibilities for where to get started can look overwhelming. With so many job-posting sites, companies posting jobs on their own sites, Craigslist, aggregators, job fairs and press releases, there is little wonder why you can go from overwhelmed to a dead stop in less than a second.

If you’re reading this, you probably don’t need to worry too much about bad decision making or judgment. Most of the time, people who amble through life are barely making it, and give as much “thought time” to their behavior as a cow does. Nevertheless, it’s good to occasionally think about this issue before you seriously trash your future. I would point out that there are things that don’t show up on this list, like leaving the microphone on while you discuss top secret information, simply because they are so rare.
Fair or not, it’s going to be tougher for you to get a job than your American counterparts. There are several reasons why, including the tighter restrictions on H1-B visas, and the fact that American recruiters may not feel entirely confident in your English skills, your ability to adjust to American culture, and so on.
It’s been over 30 years since Johnny Paycheck sang, Take This Job and Shove It. You know, “Take this job and shove it, I ain’t working here no more.” To rewrite the lyrics for today, we might sing…”I’ll take any job.” Or, “Take this job and shove it, oops…just kidding.” Wow, what a difference a recession can make. Maybe we haven’t had it as tough as the country hit implies, but time off gives us time to ourselves, time to reflect on the job we had.

Working more than 40 hours a week seems normal today - at least in the US. My clients tell me they consistently work into the night and over weekends. Blackberries and other smart phones enable employees to be on call at any hour day or night. It has become an accepted way of life here. Is it healthy?
Current affairs is a vast concept, and is often misunderstood with General Awareness. While the former particularly signifies the events happening around for the past few years, the latter is used as a broader term including historical events and current issues as well. Nevertheless, both are essentially vital for cracking the competitive examinations nowadays. This year, simply having skilled knowledge in your subject wonât be sufficient for getting through an institution
What makes you happy? It is easy to stay happy when times are good. It is more challenging when life has thrown you a curve. In difficult times it is important to be resilient. Resilience is that quality that enables people to face adversity and adapt to it without lasting difficulties. A resilient person can "roll with the punches". Some people are born with more resilience than others. We all can become more resilient. Knowing the characteristics of resilient people can help you to become more resilient yourself.
There was a time in my life when I was really confused, lost and I did not have a lot of joy. It was ironic, because my whole life had "turned out" just as I had imagined it would. I graduated school, I got a job and a nice place to live. I had friends, family, and a long-term relationship. Any time I looked to my future, it was filled with vivid, pleasant days. Yet, I wasn't comfortable because the part that I had not planned on was how strange it was to accomplish my goals.

As an active recruiter (I am the owner of HIREghana – www.HIREgh.com), I and my associates come daily across through a variety of candidates whom we prescreen for our clients. There is plenty of advice to google on interview techniques. One less known but possibly highly effective method/ skill-set to ace your interview is NLP. NLP stands for NeuroLinguistic Programming. Let me express this in a different way:

Selling and sales techniques go through evolution and sometimes revolution. Evolution is when we evolve and change slowly over an extended period of time. We experience revolution when our customers demand a change in approach quickly to be better served. Whether building trust is a new key concept in the sales person’s lexicon or not, it has come about through evolution or revolution; I am not completely sure which one. I do know that building credibility and trust are essential elements in the sales process in order to develop long-term sales relationships.

Getting Along with the Boss: Build the Relationship at Work that Matters Most to Your Career Find me someone who has ever held a job, and I’ll find you someone who’s hated his boss. Call it karma, feng shui, or just the way of the world, but everyone seems to have had a boss they’ve disliked. Really disliked. Even bosses have hated their bosses. Why the hate? For starters, as you’ve read thus far, the little things can get in the way of love. I, for one, find it hard to love the boss who clips his toenails in his office, as was the case with boss #3.

Tip #1 – Accept the imperfect! Many Moms (especially after the first child) want to do everything perfect. They want to do a perfect job at work, with the child, at home and with their husband. They just want to be perfect everywhere and with everyone. But what happens is that once they take some extra time to do some household works, they take away time from the kid, right? So they start feeling guilty. They immediately start feeling... imperfect.
“The new corporate contract is that we’ll offer you an opportunity to express yourself and grow, if you promise to leash yourself to our dream, at least for a while.” - John Sculley, former Apple CEO Creativity is self-expression. One of my favorite business books is David Whyte’s The Heart Aroused: Poetry and the Preservation of the Soul in Corporate America. In the book, Whyte talks about the dark side that is created in organizations when creativity is stifled. Is it unreasonable to expect the honoring of your creativity by the organization you work for?
This month the energies are positive for uniting, rather than dividing people. We’ll take a look at which qualities within each sign cause divisive problems and which qualities are available for bringing about solutions. As an Aquarian, I’d like to offer a very happy birthday to my fellow water bearers.

Everyone wants to start a new job on the right foot. Having a strategy for making your mark in the first few weeks is a great idea. Here are 10 traps that can undermine your efforts during your first couple of months on the job.
The day has finally arrived. The boss has girded their loins and is now prepared to tell you – you’ve missed the mark. Your performance is bad. This is the day we all dread. We have friends who lived through this and told you hair-raising stories about deep-seated hatred and paranoia. The boss can’t stand me, the boss is out to get me and everyone “knows”. You feel like a marked person with only a short time in the job before getting the boot. You are dead man walking.r
Interviewing for a new job can be stressful. If flying isn't your favorite pastime, boarding a plane to reach a job interview can magnify the stress of both circumstances until it feels as taut as an overstuffed suitcase. SeatExpert.com has a trick to help job seekers rest a little easier by giving them a way to get a better seat. A passenger can search by the flight number or browse by airline to find the type of plane being boarded. The three-step process is explained on the "How it Works" page.
Where do all the hours go in a day? They just seem to fly by, don’t they? When making a career change, or walking through any type of life transition, a daily dose of P, S & B is something that should always be incorporated. So what does P, S & B stand for? (No, it’s not an acronym for a sandwich.)

Last month we discussed the various ways that energy is flowing within you and how the energy of one person affects the energy of another. In this issue we will discuss how the flow of energy within us allows for certain emotions to be felt... or not. The flow of energy supports us living within a certain mood and not others. Our emotions and moods predispose us to certain actions and so each emotion or mood allows us to take certain actions and not others.r
Achieving a harmonious balance between your work responsibilities and your personal life requires that you become selfish. That’s right, selfish. Stop frowning and wipe that look of disbelief from your face. Let’s look at this concept in more detail by examining the word “selfish” in more ...
It seems to me if we are working 8+ hours each day, that work should add meaning to our lives and thus make us feel fulfilled, satisfied and happy. Leaders lead first by example (find meaning in their own work) and then by inspiring others to find meaning in their own work. What are the characteristics of meaningful work? Here are 10 characteristics: 1. It doesn't feel like work. First of all work that is meaningful doesn't feel like work at all. To outsiders it may look like work but to you it is something you enjoy and want to do. 2. It is aligned with your values.
Have you ever heard of a Gremlin? A Gremlin is a nasty little monster that rides around on our shoulder all day whispering or talking or yelling all sorts of negative things into our ear. It says things like “Who do you think you are?” “You don't deserve to be successful,” or “You are such a failure.”
If you want to make big moves in life, you have to take risks. But taking risks isn’t easy, and it puts most people in unfamiliar territory. Unfamiliar territory can, in turn, often feel dangerous and cumbersome. The human mind loves familiarity, as familiarity usually means safety in some form as well as access to resources. This love of familiarity is literally hardwired into our brains and with good reason. During our evolution, those who could remember where water holes and predators were located, well, they had a better day!
People have problems; they’re a reality of living life. However, most people are trying to solve problems at the level of the symptom, while the disease goes untreated. I’m going to tell you how to determine if the action you take is only solving the symptom while the root-cause is left untreated and left to manifest more problems again in the future.
Labels at work It can be easy as a manager to label people as bad or good performers. This performance labeling tends to be a convenient way to quickly categorize people. It is efficient for human resources. Once labeled, people can be given promotions or demotions, merit or punitive action, more money or less money. Management and Human resources can now implement programs of the month such as succession planning, employee of the month and so on. This approach seems to have come from the behavioral management theories of the past.
