Hubby lied to me. And I love him for it. Crazy, I know, but I think you’ll agree with me. We decided to host three foreign students for a month. Fun experience. But that required me to clean closets; a task that for the last decade, I avoided like the plague. Each was jammed with clothes, old items and junk belonging to each of the seven members of our family—from football jerseys to my wedding dress. We’re talking stuff stored from probably the Middle Ages. “Here’s the plan,” I said to hubby. “You bring all hanging clothes downstairs and my Mom and I will segregate them for donation.r

With so many responsibilities and pressures tugging at us, itâs hard to think of much else than self.rn rnâOh, weâre just human!â Some might say. It must be instinctive, for even kids wanna horde. Of course there could be something said for adult toys too.rn rnWe could learn a lot from some folks, and Iâve learned a great deal from a certain gal. Mom, youâve taught me well. Giving isnât so much an act with you as itâs a lifestyle that many could learn from. Yo
How does one measure success in life? What does it look like? What are its trademarks? How much of our lives have been needlessly squandered in pursuit of a definition of it that is neither worthwhile nor accurate? There is seemingly no end to the ways in which a materialistic and self-absorbed culture would seek to impose its interpretation of success upon us. Suffocating notions of it are so pervasive in our everyday experience that few people actually stop for a moment to question the trajectory of their own life in practically mindless allegiance to them.
One of our residents came to me a couple of years ago on behalf of her nineteen-year-old son, who had shown up the night before quite unexpectedly. She had not seen him in months. He had hiked for about ten miles and had waited for hours for her to return from work. He was unemployed, had only the clothes on his back, was penniless and desperate. He has a history of grand mal seizures, ADD, ADHD, and God-only-knows what else. His mother had lost custody of him when he was o
Having spent my late teens and early twenties in San Francisco during the hippie era, I was heavily influenced by the concept “If it feels good it’s all right”. Feelings were king and discipline had gone by the wayside. Things that caused immediate sensations like drugs and “free love” were ...
This is a great way to spend time with your family. This inculcates the spirit to serve the community in them. This vacation will help you make a difference and also build memories that will last for a lifetime. It is a good example to set for your younger generations. âNow before the feast of the Passover, Jesus knew the hour had come to depart from this world to his Father. He loved his own who were in this world, and he loved them to the end. During supper, Satan put into the heart of Judah, son of Simon of Iscariot, to deliver him. But Jesus, because he knew that the Father had given everything into his hands and that he came from God and was going to God, rose from supper and laid aside his robe; and he took a cloth and tied it aroun

Promoting your website can seem like a daunting, complicated task. The truth of it is that it's not a trivial undertaking. But with some plans, you can be sure that you're leaving no stone untu ed and working toward the best possible results. I worked for several years as a Sales Executive. The manager of the Sales Department would always stress, Consistency Over Time, Equals Profits. It was such a potent statement that I wrote it down and began to see how it applied to all of life’s goals, not just in the Sales Profession.r
Summary: In a world crazy with lawlessness and tyranny of governments ignorant of God’s principles, Elijah is to come. Historically, Elijah identified the true God and brought Israel back to true worship. “Remember the law of Moses…with the statutes and judgments. Behold I send you Elijah,” Malachi 4:4 The Identity of Elijahr When John the Baptist was asked if he was Elijah, he said no, but speaking of the role of Elijah to prepare the way for His coming, Christ referred to John’s ministry and said Elijah had come.
This makes no sense. It didn’t to me either. September 11 carries deep scars in my heart. On the first anniversary of the attack, we buried my youngest son. I was thrown in the pit of sorrow with thousands of others who tasted the bitte ess of grief. Then something happened. God’s face shone through the clouds of gloom. I guess you need to be physically blind like me to be able to see the radiance of His presence when the darkest moments suck our joy, steal the energy we need to keep going, and rob the peace we once knew.
Betrayal rolls off your tongue like an exquisite dish but it’s more like a razor sharp sword that slices so deep to the core of your being. Its blade is so sharp that you’ve been wounded to the core and don’t even realize it ‘til the blood starts gushing out in waves of agony. Every time your heart beats, the blood sprays through the air- more and more lifeless you become with every passing breath. I can feel the life slowly leaving my body. What do I do? Have I, even I, cut this deep and never realized the pai I’ve caused.
A Christian Recovery Package That All Can Use By Dick B. © 2012 Anonymous. All rights reserved The Present, Diverse Approaches That Leave Many Christians Baffled There are many fine approaches that help Christians recover from alcoholism, addiction, and other life-controlling problems. The problem is that almost all lack long-term or life-long, and certainly not sustainable, recovery efforts. Almost all operate independently of other effective Christian recovery efforts. T
I wanted to start off by explaining a few facts you need to understand before we begin our journey together. I am not a psychologist nor am I a philosopher. I do not hold a college degree of any kind. I am not a teacher, a mentor, or a role model and make no claims to be such. I am not a preacher, a pastor, an elder, deacon, bishop or any other religious entity by title. I am simply a person who made a lot of mistakes with his life, and through trial and error, changed his li
Summary: Biblical signs point to impending crisis and destruction with judgment on America and the beginning of martial law. To watch, pray and withdraw funds may be protective. This article is dedicated to the memory of Tom Lass, a Presbyterian pastor who kept a backpack loaded in his car, ready for events in the last half of Matthew 24 that will come suddenly, unexpectedly.
Evil, pain and suffering are never far from us. Why does God allow it? Can a loving God allow suffering? Why does God allow suffering? How do we reconcile a caring god, a god of power, with a god who allows evil to happen? * Tragedies and suffering flood the news. Why? * Evil and pain afflict loved ones, friends and communities. Why does God allow this? * Suffering seems to leave no one untouched. People ask why God allows pain in their lives – emotional pain, physical suffering, sadness and loss. They say God must not care, or perhaps he is not powerful.
The desire of pleasing is, of course, the basis of social connection. Persons who enter society with the intention of producing an effect, and of being distinguished, however clever they may be, are never agreeable. They are always tiresome, and often ridiculous. Persons, who enter life with such pretensions, have no opportunity for improving themselves and profiting by experience. They are not in a proper state to observe: indeed, they look only for the effect which they produce, and with that they are not often gratified.
When you are creating a new church from scratch, itâs important to have a plan and to be consistent. A church is not about having a building; itâs about having people with whom to come and share your beliefs, preferably in a regular setting. These are the thoughts from one who has been researching what it will take to start a New Church and how best it can be created. The intent is to get you thinking about Bible Study as a means to not only start a New Church but also ho
NOW THERE WAS AT JOPPA, A CERTAIN DISCIPLE NAMED TABITHA, WHICH BY INTERPRETATION IS CALLED DORCAS: THIS WOMAN WAS FULL OF GOOD WORKS AND ALMS-DEEDS WHICH SHE DID . AND IT CAME TO PASS IN THOSE DAYS; THAT SHE WAS SICK AND DIED. (ACTS 9;36-37)
Summary: Obedience to the laws of physics has put men on the moon. Freedom, Health, Happiness and Prosperity are based on obedience to laws. Re-writing those laws will not get us to the moon, and it can hijack us from a higher destiny in life.
As I delve into this more and more, I realize why there are cults and why there has been such a divergence of Judaism and Christianity as regards the Messiah and his role, so also to who he is. When one looks for a Messiah, one is usually doing so through the eyes of human criteria, and that has also been true for the Jews and Gentiles. First I'd like to look at what the role of a Messiah isn't and then get into the faith aspect of it. Let's look at what a Messiah is not. A M
Touting the benefits of cold water training, a former Navy seal explains health benefits and encourages us to end our bathing with a cold shower in a 1-minute video. Benefits cited include reducing inflammation for joints and vasoconstriction that squeezes lactic acid out of the muscles so we are good to go the next day. Lactic acid has its own benefits as a natural sedative, as Solomon said, “the sleep of the laboring man is sweet.” Proverbs

Let’s look at 2 Corinthians 3:18 “But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.” This Scripture is revealing to us the fact that there is a progressive image of the glory the ...
Most western churches are like the fig tree that Christ cursed for its pretentious foliage when it had no fruit, Matthew 21. Most American churches have music and preaching, but may lack content as the imagery suggests re the last of 7 churches, said to be lukewarm with materialism in Revelation 3:14-21. 1. The letter to the last of seven churches in Revelation is addressed to the aggelos–the messenger or preacher. He has the door closed to Christ who is outside knocking to enter. This implies that Christ is not in the chuch, in spite of music or sermons about Him.r
My friend and I sat by the window at a local restaurant. Between bites, we caught up after months of not seeing each other. Then, with no warning, the fire alarm went off. We stopped for a second, then went right back to our chatting. We smelled something burning, made a comment, then right back to our talking. Firemen showed up. No one asked us to leave, so we resumed our chatting.r
“I read your book two times. I love, love it. It changed my life.” Comments like this one from my readers dance in my heart with gratitude. Writing books is a delight for me. But public speaking? That idea made my stomach cramp. I inhaled deep and took the plunge. I joined a local Toastmaster group. “You have to connect with your audience,” blurted my friend, a well-established speaker. I nodded. “I know. And no doubt, give a powerful message.”

VATICAN CITY, Sept 8, 2015. During his Sunday sermon at Saint Peter’s Square, Pope Francis spoke of a “forthcoming event in which the earth will be consumed by hellfire from above” and asked Christians around the world to absolve themselves of sin in the days and weeks ahead. Pope Francis has apparently been visited “on three occasions by heavenly beings” who, most recently, have warned of an “impending crisis” that could have dire consequences for life on earth. The ominous nature of the warning linked at the bottom suggests the possibility of something huge.
Do you have a friend who is just about perfect? You know what I mean—she has hair to die for, gorgeous skin, wears killer clothes and always smells divine? I have one of those friends. But rather than hate her, I admire her…she’s so very special! So I said to her. “I wish I could be like you. “ I sighed. “Tall and statuesque.” “Ha! Look at you” she said with a giggle. “And what are you? A size zero?” We laughed. “NO,” I said, “Four petite.” “Good. Because anyone who wears a size zero is not my friend.” We both giggled like high school girls.r
ope Francis has sparked another debate with controversial remarks at the Third Vatican Council. He says, the concept of hell where people burn ete ally cannot be Christian--it goes against the concept of a loving and compassionate God. That idea is being challenged by other Bible scholars, not just the pope. When God told Adam that if he ate of "the tree of the knowledge of good and evil" that he would "surely die" (Genesis 2:17) He did not mean live forever in torment. This idea is an invention of the devil to paint God as a devil.r
AN EXTENDED PROCESS God blessed me to publish my first book of poetry entitled, ON SOLID GROUND: Inspirational Poetry For All Occasions. All of the poems are God inspired and are based on His word with a scripture reference for each one. I may have written the words, but God spoke them to my spirit to help encourage, heal and celebrate others as well as myself. I have been asked how long it took me to write the book and I always have to pause before I respond because:
Changing your word patterns is a lot easier than changing your thought habits. Getting good at anything requires practice, and changing speaking habits is no different. First, we have to make ourselves aware of wrong speech. If you've been a Christian for quite awhile, the Lord probably already has cleaned all profanity and obscenities from your lips. If not, you need to make that a priority. From the Bible, "Out of the same mouth proceeeds blessing and cursing. My brothers
Why just settle for a life of getting by and simply existing when you can live a life of excellence that brings growing prosperity into your life? You have a God given potential for excellence. Discover it and use it to live a prosperous life! Excellence is defined as "superiority, great value or worth." Summary: The Hebrew word for divine appointment has a surprise meaning. Like keeping a job, keeping our appointments can affect our destiny. The story is told of a merchant in Bagdad who sent his servant to market for supplies, but the servant came back trembling. He said, Master, when I was in the marketplace I was jostled by someone in the crowd and when I turned I saw it was Death that jostled me. He made a threatening gesture. Lend me your horse, and I will ride to Samarra and Death will not find me.
When asked about the end of the world, Christ said to understand the book of Daniel. Revelation had not yet been written, but a blessing is pronounced on those who read and understand the Revelation. rn#1. There is a similarity of context for both Daniel and Revelation and both Daniel and John were in captivity when those books begin. Is that an omen for us? rn#2. Daniel 3 is about the king of Babylon and Revelation 17:5 is about the king of spiritual Babylon.r
Help for Today’s Pastor, Minister, or Priest Who. . . The subtitle of Malachi Martin's best-selling “Keys of This Blood,” indicates that the super-powers are involved in a three-way struggle for world supremacy. The book may have overlooked our 500 point stock market crash a month after John Paul's visit in 1987. With the take-down of the Berlin Wall and Communism, orchestrated by President Reagan and John Paul, it looked like the west was supreme until Pope Benedict visited the US in 2008 and the economy crashed months later.
My friend Mano Watsa is more than a basketball player. He was a four-time OUA Conference All-Star, two-time All-Canadian point guard and captain for the University of Waterloo. In 1999 he toured with the USA Athletes In Action team, was awarded the National TSN Award for combining excellence in athletics, academics and community involvement, and was named University of Waterloo Male Athlete of the Year. Mano is not a big man. He only stands 5’10”, yet he has a vertical of 42 inches. Was he born with a tremendous ability to jump? Hardly.
No woman is worthy to be a wife who on the day of her marriage is not absolutely and entirely lost in an atmosphere of love and perfect trust; the supreme sacredness of the relation is the only thing which, at the time, should possess her soul.
I have yet to hear anyone with any credibility suggest that things in this country are going to get better any time soon. Yesterday's pessimist is today's realist. The fact is that our country has been incredibly blessed by God for many, many years. We know from Romans 2:4 that God's goodness ...
The scripture in Proverbs 20: 5 of the Christian Bible, says: âCounsel in the heart of man is like deep water, but a man of understanding will draw it outâ. A deep look at that scripture will give you the impression that an immeasurable amount of treasures lies within each human beings heart; and these treasures can help each individual live an outstanding and distinguished lifestyle! There is counsel, information and direction within the deepest part of man. It takes a l
Most of the time, to the human senses, nothing apparently changes during prayer. Yet, that simply is not true. A lot is happening in the unseen and unheard realm. Although this brief discussion focuses on Christian prayer, it can be modified to apply to any belief system. There is an old song, "Turn Your Radio On," and that is exactly what happens when a person talks to God (which is one aspect of praying). Prayer turns on and tunes in. The moment a person turns a radio o
Spring means the birth of new beginnings, but it also signals a dawning of mowing the lawn. For many, home improvement ideas begin to dance around in our heads.rn rnMy wife and I live in an older home and we had a concrete pad in front of the side door for as long as I could recall. The thought occurred to me it would be nice to have a roof with support columns over that.rn rnHaving a contractor background, I calculated the material needed and began to build it with the bless
Many good folks are willing to die for what they think is a worthy cause. The purpose of this article is to show a better cause, because America as we know it, is mostly gone. #1. Even if we could win a civil war for the 2nd Amendment (gun rights), America has huge debt and an economy facing cutback. With half of America living off the other half who pay taxes, we won't be able to out-vote the thousands coming across the southern border daily. Chaos is coming.
Summary: Rick Wiles' interview with John Shorey raises the question. The book of Daniel supports Muslim overflowing the US. Asked about the end of the world, Christ said to understand the book of Daniel, Matthew 24:3,15. Daniel was sealed “till the time of the end,” (Daniel 12:4) but Daniel 8:17 says, “at the time of the end shall be the vision” [chazon of the goat and ram]. This suggests a repeat of history with an end-time application. The ram had two horns, the kings of Media and Persia, but we now see those areas as Iraq and Iran, with the vision half completed already!
The champion in the child is the same champion in the adult; they just have to recognize it. As a father of three girls, a speaker at schools, prisons, juvenile halls, and a counselor to many youths, I know the importance of proper child training. One year I went to minister to a friend of mine who was in prison. It was the hardest thing I ever dealt with, even though I know how to put my mind out of an equation and put my spirit up. I saw the inmate’s children; who are my children’s age, leaving the prison.
“He has his own elevator to his apartment,” my friend told details about the homes of the rich and famous. His line of work takes him into homes some only dream about. Remember when people were glued to the TV program about the rich and famous? Is that because most want to know what that life is like? Maybe so, But most folks like you and me don’t want glitz and glamour, we just want to live in peace—secure and with easy-to-solve problems.
A CALL TO LEADERSHIP In order for a turning point to take place, one must change direction at some point in time. My initial turning point began in the summer of 1989. The Lord had been dealing heavily with my spirit conce ing my place in ministry. Like Jonah, I had not been going in the directio God had called me to go.
