A few weeks ago, when I was using Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) working with a telephone client, ‘Anna’, she stated, “Bad things happen to good people: it’s always the good people who get sick”. Now, I have no way of either refuting or proving this, but she believed it and I accepted her belief. Anna has been existing with very severe multiple chemical sensitivities (MCS) for 18 months, showing no sign of improvement. Her breathing is supported by an oxygen tank, and she is unable to tolerate (amongst many other things) any cleaning products, perfumes, moulds and most food.

When I conduct an introductory workshop on EFT, I typically ask for volunteers who have a phobia, an irrational fear of something such as heights, tight spaces, spiders, elevators, or flying. I assure the volunteer that I will not make them do anything that they are afraid to do, rather, I will help them release the fear so that the fear is no longer the issue. Phobias provide a good demonstration of the power of EFT because the success rate is high, it can be done quickly, a
No matter how committed we are to eating healthy, each one of us has slip-ups where we give in to unhealthy food cravings. And while that may be okay once in a while, if you routinely eat based solely on your cravings, there may be more than just your taste buds calling the shots. You can blame uncontrolled eating or binging on lack of will power. But what if it is not will power, but your belief system that running the show under the hood? That is some food for thought, isn’t it?
There are good reasons to meditate, pray or contemplate. And quite a few lame reasons not to, which EFT can tackle. Letâs explore both. nnOn a recent talk show, three scientists were each reporting on their studies of the brain using advanced scanning technologies. All three reported stable brainwave patterns in people who meditate, and all three believed that these stable patterns are so significant to your health that the single most important thing you can do for your he
Addiction is a word that we throw around all of the time but what does it actually mean to be addicted to something? And how does one become addicted to anything in the first place? Like all other behavior, the answers to these questions lies in thought and emotion.
There are so many talented and gifted solopreneurs out there who are starting to have some - or having a lot – of success. The problem comes when they start becoming so overwhelmed with everything going on, that the success stops becoming fun. They’re feeling like a gerbil spinning on the wheel in the cage –going round and round - and they don’t know how to get off!
Wow! I wanted to send this woman a mirror. I was having a conversation with someone at a networking meeting who proceeded to tell me about all of the times “coaching” didn’t work for her. She named several other coaches she worked with and proclaimed how both they and their programs had failed her. How it was a waste of money for her. She told me how the coaching industry was a big scheme and everyone was overpaid. Have you ever blamed anyone/everyone else for your failure? For your bad choices? For your mistakes? It’s so easy to do that.r
No matter how sweetly it is packaged, criticism hurts. It comes disguised as feedback from your boss or professors, belittling taunts from friends, customer complaints and nagging from family members who seem to get secret satisfaction in pointing out your flaws. There is an amazing technique to handle criticism well and come out a winner no matter who said what about you.
If you suffer from procrastination, then you are probably familiar with its effects. And you are also familiar with the "why did I leave this til the last minute" feeling. You might have promised yourself that, next time, you will not put off such important tasks again. But, later on, you find that you have repeated same thing again. Why do we put off certain tasks? Well, it all boils down to the feelings and beliefs we have about these tasks. Let's say you're looking at yo
I’d like to express how honored I felt to be included in the making of “Operation Emotional Freedom: The Answer” an insightful documentary about war Veterans and their struggles with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. I was part of a select group of EFT experts, organized by Gary Craig, EFT Founder. Additionally, there were valuable assistants, including my favorite Vet, and EFT Practitioner, Miguel Vasquez, plus a psychologist, psychiatrist and many others support team members.
Guilt, Moralities and Great Sex, Like Oil and Vinegar; How EFT Can Help One definition of guilt is; feeling culpable for imagined offenses or from a sense of inadequacy or self-reproach. We feel guilty when we have crossed a defined boundary. That line we try not to cross was often defined by a moral authority, be it a parent, our idea of God, a religious codex or a societal norm. Guilt is the exact opposite of an aphrodisiac. It leads to feelings of inadequacy, avoidance behaviors, anxiety and can even lead to depression. Want a great sex life?
Any truly effective method of treatment needs to expand its horizons as it goes along. EFT is a remarkable stress management technique, and even more than that, it is a way of handling emotional problems that people may have had for their entire lives ââ and can often do so quickly and permanently. I have spoken many times about the way in which EFT revolutionized my own practice as a clinical psychologist, and how to this day it continues to do so.nnHowever, a major tech
Having success is work. It is challenging. I think so many entrepreneurs forget that. This is especially common for the entrepreneurs who were successful in corporate or when working for someone else. They become disappointed, disillusioned, and discouraged. One of my clients, “Robin” was very successful during her 10 years in corporate. She came to work with me because after a year of trying to build a business she was not making any money, stressed, anxious, had gained weight and wasn’t sleeping. She needed a game plan and she needed it quickly.
Tired of being indecisive? I worked with a client recently that had prospective clients asking her to create long term programs because they really wanted to work with her in that way. She had been sitting on this issue for a month when we first met. She was afraid the offering and pricing wouldn’t be right so she kept it on hold. Meanwhile, these people were emailing her trying to get more information. She kept putting them off.
There is a special type of head line that is long, extends straight across the hand and terminates about ½ inch before the edge of the palm. See a picture at www.AcademyofHandAnalysis.org under Articles. Check your own hands to see if you have one. If you, or someone you know has one, ponder the following. While no one marker in the hand defines a person, some characteristics can be snared in individual markings.
Stress and frustrations can mar your entire life if you fail to do something positive to deal with them. If youâre constantly stressed up, thereâs no way you can succeed in any venture in life. The same scenario is also applicable when youâre frustrated. The good news is this: thereâs always a way out of stress and frustrations. You can use Emotional Freedom Technique to free yourself from such conditions. Basically, Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) refers to an alte
Do you just let life happen to you and hope for the best? Or, do you decide on a daily basis, or even better, on a moment-by-moment basis, what you want to experience? Too many people just let life happen and then complain about the results. Setting intentions at the beginning of your day helps ...
4 little words. “Bright Shiny Object Syndrome” Most entrepreneurs tend to follow the bright shiny light instead of being strategic and staying on path. Every entrepreneur needs to have a solid foundation. A base. No matter what their level. This foundation brings in income, a way of constantly attracting new clients and maintain/ keep existing clients. Here’s where most entrepreneurs run amuck: 1) Entrepreneurs get inpatient. Things aren’t happening fast enough. The money isn’t coming in fast enough so they move on to try something else
Having just finished Eckhart Tolle’s, A New Earth, I am feeling exhilarated. Imagine! A New York Times best seller that describes and explains how and why the Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) works! Obviously, that wasn’t the point of the book. I don’t know if Mr. Tolle is currently aware of the effectiveness of EFT and how it is transforming the lives of millions of people all over the world. I am quite sure, however, if he had been aware at the time of his writing, he would have instructed his readers in at least the basic technique.
I know that I always stress the importance of testing, testing, and re-testing when we believe we have collapsed an issue with a client. Much has also been said about working through the fear of the fear of any phobia since it can be just as strong as the presenting fear/phobia. I’ve recently ...
It’s impossible to build self confidence without first raising self esteem. Trying to build self confidence over the top of low self esteem is like trying to build a house on sand. It’s impossible. The foundations are not stable enough. There are so many self confidence programs, books, tapes and seminars that try to make you believe that all you have to do to gain self confidence is to add something to your self. You can not add self confidence to your self. Real confidence comes from within, not from outside of the self.
Without a positive mindset, anyone charged with selling goods and services is doomed from the beginning. This not only includes small business owners, but also professional salespeople. Most people working in sales have had training of some sort to teach them how to sell. They learn things like how to approach customers, what questions to ask them and how to close a sale. This is valuable and essential training, but it misses a vital aspect of success – the mindset of the seller.
Evidently, and independently of age, social background or education, the majority of people like to sing, some of them recreationally, but a lot of them have dreams of one day becoming a professional singer/performer. Some people think; how hard could that be?? Let’s just open the mouth and produce the loud sound from the bottom of the throat and from the top of the lungs? However, it would be easy if it wasn’t so hard. These unaware and naive people also think that the ha
In a previous article in my website, I had mentioned about the 18 points that were being used in EFT. Now I will give you the details to be taken into account in an EFT session. EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) is applied by tapping some special acupressure points with fingertips. These special points belongs to the energy meridians which are on the surface of our head, chest, and hands. EFT tapping points are on top of the bones, and they are more sensitive comparing to the neighboring regions. The main steps in an EFT application, can be summarized as follows:r
More and more I find that by addressing the psychological reversals as soon as I feel the moment is right in an EFT session, the faster and quicker shifts happen. Psychological reversals (PRs) or secondary gains as they are also known are those hidden reasons why one would not want to let go ...
No, I’m not an adoptee myself. But I am the owner of the Finding in Florida reunion registry, as well as the Finding in Florida Mailing List, which is about 350 strong. I’ve worked with adoptees and birth families for 16 years. I’ve also facilitated 2 different adoption search and support groups in my local area. I’ve dealt with LOTS of adoptees over the years. The most common pai I’ve found with adoptees is the pain of abandonment. Even if logically you know that you weren’t actually abandoned, that doesn’t seem to stop adoptees from feeling that way.
What do you believe about yourself to be true? Do you realise these beliefs are the filter or screen through which you are living your life? One of the best ways of finding our beliefs is to state an affirmation in the positive. Do you hear any objections in your mind? If you do, these are your true beliefs. Once you have identified these beliefs, you can tap on them to dissolve them. You will then stop attracting things that match up with these same 'negative' or false beliefs. Gary Craig's (founder of EFT) personal peace procedure (found on emofree.com) is very useful.
Limiting beliefs are universal. No matter who we are, or what we’re doing, it’s always a bit hard to step outside of our comfort zone. Doing something new and different can be intimidating. Even if it’s something that we want with every fiber of our being, there can be things holding us back from achieving what we want. This is a perfect time for folks to listen for those tail enders.
One of the questions on my EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) client intake form asks “Are you on any medication?” Many of my clients can easily list several forms of medication they are taking; ranging from blood pressure pills, to diuretics, to painkillers, to anti-depressants. These medications are managing the current symptoms, but they are not resolving the underlying emotional issues - which could well have triggered the illness in the first place. Moreover, if these issues are not dealt with, will there ever be an opportunity for healing at a core level?
Anxiety can be triggered by something specific like performance or intimacy, or it can be an unexplainably uncomfortable feeling that lasts all day. Positive thinking, task management techniques and a variety of medications have all become acceptable ways to manage anxiety. However, because they ...
Why "They" Say No I almost titled this article “why you say no” as it’s the same reasons. Think about when you’re making the “sales calls” to get clients. That’s an important foundation of your business. Things are going great during the call, you're making a terrific connection, but you notice you’re getting a lot of “no’s”. That can be discouraging, frustrating and at times, even scary. You keep wondering "why won't they yes and sign up"?
What are you worried about? What were you thinking about as you clicked onto this link? That is probably associated to the obstacle in your life right now. Our obstacles in life can generally be associated to our thought patterns. To overcome or gain awareness into this pattern, we need to practice staying present, this will help us to remove the obstacles in our lives. It is an easy process with the main theory being awareness. How can you increase your awareness and move b
Can we survive the learning curve of becoming aware, awakened to our truth, to our power and excel at doing so? I would say there is no question that we are on our way to being just that; Speeding up the process is available to us. Tools have been set in place to allow us the options of getting over feeling deprived, unloved, afraid, exhausted, overwhelmed, or in emotional pain now.
This is something a lot of entrepreneurs do that really sabotages their success. They get so caught up with what everyone else is thinking. Their brains are going a mile a minute with all sorts of worry and comparisons. As a result, they procrastinate and don’t take action. I remember when I first started my ezine and had people opt out of my newsletter the first few months. Boy, did a lot of fears and doubts pop up. I had to do a lot of mindset work to not take it personally. Do any of these thoughts sound familiar? -This won’t be good enough...rn-It’s too different...r
I’ll bet you’re wondering when the spending is going to stop and you’re actually going to be making a profit. It seems like the more you make, the more you have to spend. I noticed that in my own business. As I saw my numbers rise, I needed additional members on my team, fancier on-line marketing systems, more support people, more courses …more everything. It seemed like there wasn’t a limit to what I could and would spend.
Sound familiar? I was just at a networking event and was speaking to an acquaintance of mine who was telling me her most recent sad story of a resource she hired going “haywire”. She hired a copywriter and was very disappointed with the results. Every time I talk to her, she has another story about how someone didn’t do the work they were supposed to, or someone was too busy to do what they said they would or someone’s work was below standard. It drains me even to listen to her so much that I find an excuse to end the conversation and walk away.
Women dating older men... Such relationshps are now very popular for all different reasons and fall into different categories. The first division you have is that some are for love and others are for sexual or practical reasons. There is a huge difference between a woman wanting to be with an older and more mature man because she loves him and enjoys his company or because he has a good job and earns a lot more than her and can provide for her. He may not mind this but he oft
The beauty of being an entrepreneur is we can determine our income. One of the ways of the fastest ways raising your income is to give yourself a raise. With the beginning of a new year, it’s time to think about if you want to do that. Here are a few questions to ask yourself? 1. When is the last time you increased your rates? 2. Do you feel good about what you are charging?
The majority of chronically ill clients I work with are on some form of medication. Their medical doctors have outlined what they can hope to accomplish, and how their body will respond, if they continue to use the medication; and what to expect if they choose not to take the drugs, or decide to stop taking them. A lot of attention is focused on fixing the illness as it now exists, and rightly so. On the other hand, surely coping strategies are only part of the equation. What led to the illness appearing in the first place, and why is that rarely considered?

"Worry does not empty tomorrow of sorrow - it empties today of strength." Carrie Ten Bloom Think about a time when you played the worst-case scenario over and over in your mind. Your spouse or child is late coming home. You worry that they may be in a ditch, in the hospital, or, worst case, ...
It’s so simple –yet so hard if you don't know what you're doing. Proper preparation prevents piss poor performance. That says it all. Yet so many entrepreneurs run their business by the seat of their pants, from the panic mode. I call it “near sighted vision”. They only see what's in front of them. It’s as if their calendar only goes 30 days out. They’ll do things such as: Plan to do a telesummit/teleseries next month having never done one beforer Decide they want to hold a workshop next month without the topic conceptr
"What's your sign?" "Hey, beautiful" "Want to see come up and see my art work?" Think back to your younger, single days (or maybe for you that's what you are now) and when you went to the bars. Remember how much you hated hearing those lines? I did. Yikes...I felt like I need to take a shower afterwards. It was all so sleazy and phony. You couldn't trust the person saying that at all. In fact, you probably want to get as far away from that person as quickly as possible. Now, think about the lines you hear at networking events:r
EFT Master Paul Lynch takes you through his exciting technique for identifying the possible emotional causes of physical aches and pains.nnBefore I explain the Colour of Pain, maybe I should tell you a little about how I came to EFT and where I am with it now. nnWhen I was first introduced to Emotional Freedom Techniques in 1998, I was painfully shy. I had a fear of public speaking and was a smoker. EFT has helped me with all of these issues â and much more. nnMy wife Val a
When it comes to work, and life in general, knowing how to say no to certain requests is crucial. If you are not turning down some requests, you will suddenly find yourself under a lot of pressure from all the work you have agreed to handle. Don't get me wrong. I am not talking about helping other people out because you want to perform genuine acts of service. What I am talking about here is when you find it difficult to say no because you do not want to "let people down".
If this isn't an interesting topic, I don't know what is. You can learn a lot about business success on Shark Tank. For those of you who haven’t watched it, aspiring entrepreneurs come on the show asking for funds to grow their business. Some contestants have new businesses that haven’t really made much money and some are more seasoned.
While visiting the local zoo, my friend and I stopped at an exhibit that housed a rare wild pony. I remembered this equine soul from a zoo visit over 20 years earlier. The sign said “Rocky” was one of the oldest zoo residents. When I'd seen him years ago, he’d trotted around the corral with a zest for life. Now, his head hung low in the corner of his covered shelter. I sensed a heavy energy around him that had nothing to do with his advanced age. r
One of the things I love about EFT is the fact that you can use it on yourself whenever you want. Itâs quick and easy to learn. You donât need a therapist and you donât need weekly appointments. This means you can use it as often as you like and in the privacy of your own home.nnEFT stands for Emotional Freedom Technique and itâs an energy-based therapy that focuses on the energy meridians (or energy channels) of the body. In some ways itâs similar to acupuncture bu
(This article assumes the reader is familiar with EFT. It was originally published in Gary Craig's newsletter in 2009.) I have come up with an approach for using EFT to resolve deep-seated problems rooted in our family history. (I call it Family Energetics). I am getting outstanding results with every single client I use this approach with. That's because I have folks look at areas that they didn't realize were impacting them and then use EFT to clear those areas, gently and effectively. So this approach adds in a different line of questioning that can show where we need to tap.
