How often do you compare yourself to others? If you're anything like me and most of the people I know and work with, probably more than you'd like to admit. And, as you may have noticed (like I have), this comparison process never seems to feel very good or work very well, does it?

I’ve been on this journey, a grand adventure, to discover and recovery my gifts. I think I lost them around the age of five. And in the last four decades, I’ve tried to BECOME many things; an athlete, a dancer, a wife, a manager, a business owner, a mom, a speaker, a coach, a writer… You get ...
I just finished Wayne Dyer’s new book I Can See Clearly Now, in which he recounts many of the pivotal moments of his life, the lessons he learned, and how he “can see clearly now” the meaning, purpose, and synchronicity of it all. I loved the book and got so much out of it. With my 40th birthday last month, I’ve been in a deep process of self-reflection and have been looking back on my own life and all that has unfolded in the past four decades. I, too, can clearly see all of the amazing synchronicity that has led me to where I am at this moment.
Og writes, “Today I will master my emotions. I will learn this secret of the ages: “Weak is he who permits his thoughts to control his actions; strong is he who forces his actions to control his thoughts.” Each day, when I awaken, I will follow this plan of battle before I am captured by the ...
Granny may be on to something that our comparatively inexperienced presence may not be aware of. We often run to Granny for her sage, sometimes cryptic, wisdom. And Grannies knit. Are the two related? Would we be well served by picking up a pair of knitting needles and a skein or two of yarn? ...Granny may be on to something that our comparatively inexperienced presence may not be aware of. We often run to Granny for her sage, sometimes cryptic, wisdom. And Grannies knit. Are the two related? Would we be well served by picking up a pair of knitting needles and a skein or two of yarn?
Remember when you started school for the first time and were scared to death. You were separated from your parents’ love and protection and your uniqueness may have seemed more like being “different.” Not long ago, a client of mine came in feeling she was different from everyone around her whether at work or in relationships. As we unraveled the thread back to the cause, she was shocked to discover her kindergarten experience was the soil upon which this belief had sprouted.
Do you always tell the truth? Perhaps not, most people shade the truth from time to time. Yet are there any benefits to telling the truth, why would you want to? Why do many people recommend it, and then ignore their own recommendations? Is it even beneficial to tell the truth? All good questions! Consider the results Let's contemplate the implications of the last question: If everyone did this, would things improve in the world? Or would they get worse? Would we all benefit?
In order to become the true leader of your life you must examine yourself closely to determine what do you really want.
We all know that the direct path to a strong, healthy and lean body is eating right and exercising. If you don’t know this yet – surprise! So, if most of us know how beneficial regular exercise is, why are so many of us still not doing it? Well for one it takes time and energy that we often convince ourselves we don’t have enough of (you’ll see the irony in this shortly). Secondly, let’s face it - initially it’s very uncomfortable. How many people do you know get excited about going to the dentist or about cleaning out the garage? Precisely.
Following the tragedy of Robin Williams’ death from suicide, I was struck to hear how many people were affected by his death. Clients, who I was seeing for depression, told me how they thought maybe suicide was a good idea and they seemed to be considering it more seriously since the comedian’s death. Because they seemed to be considering it so lightly, I thought it may be important to learn to what degree the survivors are affected by this tragic choice.
Are you living in the Moment? How exactly does this work and what is the meaning of “Being In The Moment?” Brings up quite a few questions doesn’t it! Let’s start with an explanation of what this means. Living in the Moment is all about living like there's no tomorrow. Being aware of what is happening right now, without focusing on the past or the future. How often do you truly listen to another person? Is your complete attention on what is right in front of you? Are you wondering why this is important?
Self Empowerment to be decisive to achieve successr First of all, judge yourself and conclude what type of person you are. Are you one who make up a decision fast or someone who think for a long while but still cannot make up his mind? If you are in the later category, you have to change in order to achieve success in your life. Successful people are decisive and most importantly act upon the decision, while those who fails procrastinate. I will cover some techniques on how t

The holiday season is now in full swing. If you’re anything like me you probably have mixed feelings about the holidays. I love the excitement, parties, decorations, rituals, music, gifts, connections, and more. However, even these fun things can wear on me.
How often do you stop to catch yourself in the act of doing something right? Or anybody else for that matter . . . As opposed to dinging yourself for every single mistake you make, every flaw you find on your face, in your character, your clothes, your finances, your relationship, your friends--need I go on? We’ve got catching ourselves (and/or our friends, employers, loved ones, strangers, celebrities and whoever else) doing it wrong down to a fine art, practiced umpteen ti
By Bhasweti Gewhas, Ph.D., C.Ht. Love is a high vibrational energy. In fact, it is the strongest energy in all living beings. The energy of love generates from within. To enjoy love we must look at our inner-self and appreciate our innate nature. Love also means that we introspectively study our personality and take actions to rectify and improve self-defeating negative emotions. Often, our lack of self-love and self-esteem can originate from our childhood and the life experiences of our parents.r
Are you at risk for burnout? Rhonda Rabow According to Stats Canada in 1998 a survey showed time stress levels have been rising dramatically beginning in the 1990s. 38% of working mothers are now classified as “severely time stressed”. Working mothers now put in 74 hours a week of paid and unpaid work.

Hardly a day goes by when I don't read or hear of some celebrity or politician publicly humiliating themselves in an unconscious act of self-sabotage. Some get up, brush themselves off, learn a few life lessons and go on to reach even higher levels of achievement. Others take a few steps back towards recovery only to rush head first into the desperate wall of self destruction again and again. It is disheartening to see someone who takes the dream that they've passionately pursued for so long and slam it hard against the wall.
From the moment we let out a shriek following a slap by a mate ity nurse, at that very moment, we communicated. So communication then is entirely instinctive, and moreover, vital. It becomes even more vital in the workplace where those of us who are fortunate enough, spend so much of our time. Miscommunication in this environment is an irritant at best, and at worse - and at an operational level, potentially catastrophic.

I cannot tell you how many times I’ve put off until tomorrow what I should have and could have done today. It wasn’t until I learned how to overcome the tendency to procrastinate that my life began to change drastically for the better. Soon I began to have more energy, significantly greater success, better health and I was calmer and happier. Below are the top five methods I used to finally put an end to procrastination.
In her new book, Own Your Life, 7 Essential Steps to Independence, author, speaker and lawyer Suzanne B. Quinn guides the reader through the seven essential steps to personal and financial security and independence. This article is an excerpt from her book, comprising one of the seven steps. Goals are your roadmap to success. The difference between a dream and a goal is the written word. Writing down your goals helps to focus your mind, both consciously and subconsciously, on what you need to do to achieve that which you want.
Where is the past? Some people will say that the past is ‘behind them’. If you look ‘behind them’ you will not see the past. Others will point to their head and say the past is ‘in there, in my mind’. If you were to surgically open their head you would not ...Where is the past? When was the last time you had a GOOD cry? Not one of those almost cries that you stuff back down to join all the other almost cries you have had over the long haul. I am talking about a cry you let loose and allow to literally flow until the last drop.

Your spouse wants a big Holiday do--not just the in-laws, grandparents, aunts and uncles, your respective siblings, their mates and assorted children, but also all sixteen cousins with their mates and kids, because after all, you rarely can get the whole family together, and--it’s the Holidays! Which will mean borrowing plates, glasses, cutlery and all the rest to round out your supplies, scrounging up extra chairs and tables, preparing way more food than you’d anticipated (
"Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony."--Mahatma Gandhinn“Paul Harvey died today,” I walked into the room feeling an odd sense of remorse for a person that I had never met yet, yet whose storytelling magic I aspired to. “Paul Harvey died today,” I ...
Vision is fuel, energy, passion -- or, as I like to suggest, as important as water to a garden. Unless that vision is clear in your mind, it is hard, if not impossible, to complete the process of refining your dream into an actionable plan. Furthermore, without clarity of vision the hard work and pain that come with setting in place a program or organization become all the more intense, as I would learn during the formative stage of The Global Fund.nnTo be sure, our dream was
Many people have asked me why I became a helping professional. I share my answer with you now. All my life, it appeared that I was “on the right track,” so that by the time I was in my twenties I had achieved all of the trappings of conventional success: I was married, I had earned my PhD, was financially comfortable and traveled often. But always, deep within, I felt a haunting sense of incompletion—a pervasive longing for something I couldn’t name.
...and other truths you need to know. It would be so great if we could only cling to the truth and the truth is you are not fat. You're probably thinking, "Hey, you don't know me and I think I'm pretty fat." And I would reply, fat is extra flesh which lies under the skin (known as visceral fat) and you may have a bunch of that under your skin but it is not who you are. In this article, I'm going to outline a few truths about you and some steps for making positive changes in how you see and identify yourself.
As I prepare to speak at the Hay House I CAN DO IT event, I’m experiencing a myriad of emotions – excitement, nervousness, gratitude, pressure, curiosity, confusion, peace, and more. It’s thrilling and humbling to be invited to speak at an event like this with such powerful teachers and authors like Wayne Dyer and Caroline Myss, whom I’ve admired and learned from for many years. I’ve never actually been a part of an event like this, although I’ve dreamed about it for a long time and hope this is the first of many such events I get to participate in.

It's a funny thing....for me, at least. Whenever I feel a bit turned around or completely lost in the dark invariably a powerful piece of wisdom comes to me in the form of a rock and roll lyric. I believe poetry, lyrics in its musical form, is the highest expression of the divine human spirit. Lyrics never fail to clearly articulate what I don't understand within. "In search of truth...and some pointy boots." - Camel Walk, Berry Gordy, Jr. It's Only Rock and Roll

This week I want to talk about personal power and empowerment. What does it mean be in your power? What gets you there, what holds you there, and what gets you off track? When you know more about these dynamics you are able to harness really deep forces for creation and transformation. What does it mean? The term empowerment was popularized in the 80âs. It was based on the idea of âgiving to, or increasing, the strengths of other groups of people whether those are educati

It isn’t the prettiest side of your personality, but there it is: jealousy. Ick. How very seventh grade of you. But all of us, no matter how far beyond seventh grade we’ve gotten, feel jealous sometimes. And here’s the news flash: jealousy is a gift. Jealousy is your gut’s way of telling yourself that first of all, whatever it is, you want some. And secondly, you believe that you could have it. After all, you are never jealous of those who have things you don’t want. Ima
Things are going along OK at work, you're doing what needs to be done, you think everything is hunky-dory, and then your supervisor says: "Haven't you finished that project yet? You should have started on the next one by now," and you're instantly plunged into a horrible upset. You're so ...
If you find you don’t like a movie, you don’t yell at the screen to change. But, is that what you do about your life? I’d decided to use the Ho’oponopono method to work on old program tapes that run in my subconscious. If you’re going to aim at a target so you can hit it consistently, you need to practice and more than just a few times.
Goals, Strategies, and Systems vs. Magnetic Visions. What thoughts are triggered when you consider this? Which one feels like a better “ride” for you? Wallace Wattles wrote in his book, The Science of Getting Rich — “Man is a thinking center, and can originate thought. All the forms that man fashions with his hands must first exist in his thought; he cannot shape a thing until he has thought that thing . . . .

A novel, and even a memoir, will have characters and dialogue. You want to make sure dialogue is easy to read, sounds natural, and does what it’s meant to. Good character development in fiction includes making characters’ voices so distinctive that readers can tell who’s talking without attributes. I’m not saying that’s required or suggested (see an example at the end), just that it’s a good ideal to keep in mind. What I mean by “voice” is what a character says and how s/he says it. How do you accomplish this, you ask? Know your characters well.
