When I started writing my book, the best advice that I received from some of the best personal development experts in the world was - ‘Make it simple’. Simple is a term that some people tend to associate with things that are plain or mundane. I believe that things that are simple can be enjoyed more, and should not be overlooked!
I hated to do it, but I was determined to keep them safe. I had moved to a new home with a huge chicken farm across the road - not a place for dogs to run free. Our neighbor had a big rifle to protect his chickens and I knew he wouldn't hesitate to use it. My heart tugged at the sadness in their eyes when I pulled the gate shut on their newly constructed pen one morning, but I was confident I'd made the right decision. My two dogs definitely disagreed. Caspian, my chocolate l
Many years ago, I participated in an exercise at a workshop to show us how at ease we were with allowing good into our lives. As I imagined a little extra good flowing in, I was fine. But when I visualized a lot more good, I started to get anxious, even scared. The exercise continued, expanding the amount of good I would let in. When I got past that first barrier, I was once again comfortable with the concept of letting more good into my life. It was an interesting exercise f
If you have ever seen the movie âThe Matrixâ, then you will be familiar with the expression âresidual self imageâ. The saying, ‘Lonely At The Top’ is true for women now more than ever. Why? There simply aren’t enough women moving in forward motion. Now, some of you may totally disagree but let’s look at the facts.
Last week, I hit a milestone. As a motivational speaker, I performed for an audience of more than 1500. As a keynoter, this is my largest audience to date. Until now most of my speaking engagements have been to audiences more the size of 500. For me, this was a goal (to perform on a bigger stage and work with a bigger audience), and while I didnât realize it at the time, an opportunity to really build my confidence. For more than a year I've wanted to push myself and my car
My best friend and I had a vigorous discussion recently about the relative merits of process versus results. She was extolling the virtues of process and processing, and I was nattering on about “results, results, results.” Yet the obvious conclusion at the end of our conversation, was that both are necessary and valuable. Without process/processing, there is no valid result. Without a result in mind, process/processing is so much mental-meandering. Which got me thinking in
What’s on your Stop-It-List? Things like: Big goals: Books,Profits

I came across this message in Debbie Ford's newsletter archive and it was such a poignant and powerful reminder of the preciousness of each day that I couldn't resist sharing it with you in these final weeks of Summer. Enjoy! Claiming the Last Days of Summerrnby Debbie FordrnAugust 9, 2005 Yesterday I asked my son Beau if there is anything he hasn't done yet this summer that he wishes he could. "Yeah," he said. “To open or not to open, that is the question.” Shakespeare is probably rolling in his grave at my lamentable misuse of his famous “To be or not to be” but these days “To open or not to open” IS the question. And it is driving most of us absolutely crazy. It was one thing to engage our patience and try to make the best of our altered way of life during the first months of the pandemic, but it’s another now that we realize that the end is not in sight and that we don’t know h
Many years ago, a friend of mine walked up behind another friend who had just returned from two tours of duty in Viet Nam with the Marines. The vet didn't hear my friend until she was right behind him. His training kicked in, and he whirled and struck out with a karate chop. Fortunately, he caught himself in time, and my friend apologized profusely for seeming to sneak up on him. nnThe Marine had spent months in mortal danger, using the survival skills he'd learned, and was s

Today weâre celebrating a huge success. Our fourth child passed the road test. I just got back from the store to buy big cake. Woohoo! What a relief! Joy and new freedom for both of us! If youâre a parent of a sixteen-year-old, you understand what I mean. We all know itâs NOT a piece of cake to go through the stresses of teaching your kid to drive a car (safely). I sat next to our kids in the car for many hours with crunched toes, sweat in my palms, and my foot on the i
Are you getting what you want out of life?n If you are, you have an inner personal blueprint that works for you.n If you are not getting what you want, your blueprint is causing you to self-sabotage, according to Dr. Gordon Wolf, author of âYour Personal Blueprint Creates Your Life.ân âEach of us has a DNA to our personality that controls the remainder of the behaviors of that personality,â Wolf says.n According to him, this inner blueprint is formed when we are child
Do you know the quote, “If you do what you’ve always done, you’ll get what you’ve always gotten?” A preacher’s wife restated this in a way that made me take notice. Once again, I woke and channel surfed to the early-mo ing religious program. A preacher interviewed his wife; and though I’ll ...
As Dr. John Hagelin says in the amazing movie âThe Secretâ, âYou can have, do, or be ANYTHINGâ. Rev. What is Wrong with this Picture? / Online Marketing If you are paying attention to what is happening on a global level to the growing disparity between the Haves and Have Not’s, it is obvious that unless you are currently in a position with a great six figure salary and the ability to plan for the future, that time is running out. Today finding six figure positions without the proper pedigree and experience level is becoming a challenge that impacts everyone looking for work. Online business ideas open the door to further conversation on many subjects such as this one.
COURAGE A definition of courage - What is courage? Is it fortitude? For me it is so much more than physical bravery; it is a firmness or strength of mind. As I read an entry in Paulo Coelho’s blog (http://bit.ly/h8uOeE) this morning, one may have great skill in an area of discipline or activity. And this can provide the foundation for physical courage or bravado but the skill is useless if one is not able to command the mind. Commanding the mind is taking control; it is being firm and having the strength not to listen to the chatter.

I’m happy to fill you in right here right now, that the key to simplicity isn’t a choice, it’s a voice, and it comes from within you. “You don’t have to get it right you just have to get it going.” – Mike Litma I’m a huge fan of this quote, and believe new or aspiring (and even experienced) writers can benefit by repeating it as often as needed. Wherever you are on your path as a writer, there’s a temptation to believe you ...

Ego often gets a bum rap. I was happy to see the video of Dr. Jill Bolte-Taylor, author of "My Stroke of Insight", a while back as she exemplifies why we need an ego and why is not a good idea to try to "get rid" of it. First of all, unless you want to damage the left hemisphere of your brain (which was her challenge when she had the stroke), you are going to have a sense of "identity" which is what the ego is. It is the mental construct of the "false self".
