I believe in authenticity. It’s a great gift to the world to be yourself. I also think that sometimes a persona is helpful. The dictionary defines a persona: 1. A voice or character representing the speaker in a literary work. 2. The characters in a dramatic or literary work. 3. The role that one assumes or displays in public or society; one’s public image or personality, as distinguished from the inner self. I like to think it as a little play acting, a game of pretend to move yourself to action.

Stress badly disrupts the body’s ability to process glucose, leading to diabetes. Stress is also responsible for the thickness of arteries thus developing cardio vascular diseases and high blood pressure. nn
If money or your economic circumstances are getting you down, then start by realizing that, in Dan Hannan's succinct phrase: You cannot spend your way out of recession or borrow your way out of debt.* This applies to governments just as it does to companies and individuals. Of course, governments also reduce your wealth not just with taxes, but also by depreciating the value of your money: this is general inflation, nowadays euphemistically and misleadingly called quantitive easing!

Workers seem more and more stressed every day. Technology has created expectation of an immediate response 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Short-term thinking and planning based on the focus of quarterly stock reports has increased the sense of importance for every project. This has created a culture of inefficient multi-tasking.r
Happy Thanksgiving! I’ve been privileged to join in the celebrations with our friends and family in the States on a few occasions. To me, it’s a lovely celebration – just a great time to be with the people you love and to give thanks for all the good things in your life. But giving thanks for your good fortune is more than just a day’s pleasantry.r
It happens to each one of us at one time or another. We become stuck. We enter a state of lethargy. Whether it involves our work or our home life, there are just days (and unfortunately sometimes weeks and months) where we feel stuck. We don’t seem to have the energy to move forward. We feel the need to get things done but can’t find a grain of momentum to make it happen. After a while we know we have to do something, yet we sit on the couch like an immobile brick. Stuck.

At first I didn’t know why I felt so poorly. I thought that it might just be due to my new job filled with travel, deadlines, and an ever-changing focus. My stress-levels increased while my exercise decreased. My eating habits became poor as processed, prepackaged convenience foods and the perceived need for caffeine became the norm. Even when I tried to eat better, the weight still kept coming on and my digestive system was erratic. I began to have health issues with seemingly no source.
