As you learn NOT to take anything personally, you will bring harmony into your relationships. For example, someone may say or do something that feels like an attack on your self-worth, wellbeing or your beliefs. If you retaliate by defending or protecting yourself, you disrupt the connection with the other person and disturb your inner peace. When you remain emotionally non-attached to an accusation or disrespectful behavior, you become an observer and stay in your power.
What happens when you're the only one listening? Twenty years ago, when we were moving into a new place, a young man helped us out. The son of one of my wife’s friends, he was 14 or 15 years old and just out of a residential drug rehab program. He and I sat in our rented moving truck driving down the highway, where he told stories of his rehabilitation. Part of the recovery process is self-awareness and he was willing to share, as had been the custom in his stay.
Every time I find myself writing about, speaking about or facilitating a conversation on ‘ways to improve your life’, I am reminded that this has been my life for more than 25 years. What an honor it is to be invited into the lives of so many who are seeking to find or to redefine themselves. ...
This is a true story about becoming the person you see yourself to be, and how you can change your identity if you'd like. It's about a woman - we'll call her Cindy, but I have no memory of what her name actually was - who bought nutrition and weight loss products from us years ago at the ...
Transformational Groups are meant to be a microcosm of how you interrelate with people. They can reveal, and facilitate the transformation of, emotional structures that block your authenticity, empowered communication, emotional accessibility, and so on. In the context of relating to each other in the group (just as happens outside groups), people tend to settle into emotional defense systems or structures that to them feel safe and familiar.
Our beliefs create the way we see and trust the world. They may be conscious or subconscious but either way they can affect us and the way we live life. Thoughts are merely thoughts, quite innocent actually, until we attach a belief to them. It’s estimated that we have between 50,000 – 70,000 thoughts per day and for many people the majority of them are false beliefs about themselves, another, or the world.
Do you create long and short-term goals? Do you write down your goals or intentions? Do you create a blueprint for your day? As a success coach, I help individuals create and implement goals. Whether I am coaching a person about a life goal or an executive about leadership goals, I see the extraordinary results people get when they are clear, focused and on purpose. Clear: (the target) Know what you want to happen in your life based on your desires and values. Create a specific, measurable, attainable, relevant and time-bound goal—SMART.
You know things could be better and you are committed to make the necessary changes. You’re motivated. Why then is change so difficult? here’s why, You have, what is called, in NLP lingo, an Internal Map of Reality—an internal processing strategy and system, a life script, that takes what you experience (your sensory input) and processes it internally in various ways in accordance with the meanings you have assigned and associated. This processing creates the life you experience.
It’s true, lifestyle, people, things, success, and money can enhance your happiness, but that’s only half the equation. The other half of the equation depends solely on you. I am sure you have heard of people, or perhaps you are one of those people, who have everything money can buy and still aren’t happy. Then there are those that are joyous whether they have or don’t have things or partners in their life. Why is that? People make a choice to be happy, and it’s not just by saying it, it’s truly believing it’s possible.
For some, having a direction is the easy part, but getting there can be the challenge. For others, not having a direction, or believing it’s possible, can be steering them off course. Whether you have a route mapped out of where you are going and what you want, or you don’t, becoming a successful navigator is of the upmost importance. It can either be a journey of great adventures through unchartered territory, or one filled with stress, anxiety, worry and dread. The choice is yours. How do you become this victorious guide on the map in your life?
I love books, and I love learning in a classroom setting, but with time and money being finite, I’d rather learn-on-demand. If I need figure out how to add a feature to my website, I just look it up in user groups. If I need a bit of trivia, I search for it on the Internet. If I need some good tips on marketing, I’ll either research a few articles, or I’ll listen to a podcast while I’m exercising.
The holiday season can be a very hectic and busy time. Working, luncheons, dinner engagements, parties, gift purchasing, wrapping, decorating, baking, dinners to prepare and/or attend can leave one feeling stressed and exhausted just thinking about it. It doesn’t have to be stressful though. In fact, the holidays can be a very peaceful time. We have to remember that pressure, worry, tension and the anxiety we might feel is brought on from ourselves and our beliefs, not the holidays. 1. Plan your month.
Loving your body and giving thanks for the flab, the parts that don’t work very well and all the parts that work beautifully will change your life. Bring gratitude to the kidney stones, arthritis, and the back pain. It certainly cannot hurt and perhaps it will transform. This practice is ...
Transformation is a process. It is evolutionary, not revolutionary. Much in the way a caterpillar changes into a butterfly, over time and in stages, leaving an old form behind to become a new one. Transformation is accomplished by changing many beliefs, thoughts and behaviors over time. It is ...
I have an associate who was a stand-up comedian for a little while. For right now, let’s call him Bill. Bill started out on open mic nights at a local comedy club, and then began touring as an opener for a headline comedian. Bill eventually stopped performing stand-up comedy for reasons I have yet to figure out. But for the short time that he was a comedian, he ended up creating his own course on the art of standup comedy.
If you are feeling stressed by a life event, stuck on your way to achieving a goal, or in conflict with yourself or another, it may be time to examine your thinking. Your negative beliefs, attitudes and assumptions may be hijacking your emotions, sabotaging your success and ruining your relationships. Once you recognize a distorted message or non-truth for what it is, you have the power to change this negative mindset.
FEAR: False Expectations Appearing Real Why do we have to experience fear and why is fear present in our lives? I find it amazing that every single person on this planet is experiencing this emotion. I personally believe that in this world there are only these two strong emotions: LOVE and FEAR and that which is love can not be feared and that which is feared can not be loved.
Our world is not about to change, it already has changed! We can no longer simply presume that what was, still is; and that what we once held to be true can still be relied on to continue to be true. From the more obvious effects in our physical world of global climate change to the more ...
The many times growing up we swear, we will never be like our parents; too many to remember but here we are, all grown up with children of our own, lo and behold we are enacting behavior mirroring them. If we step back and truly observe our interactions with our children, we see our parents’ personas coming alive and even though we may not be comfortable with the reactions it is as if we have very little control over our mannerism and attitudes.
It all starts with you! The real transformation of humanity is taking place in the field, cellular membranes, brain, nervous system and bodymind by clearing the old patterns and bringing these areas up to a higher frequency. Earth’s vibration has risen in the short time that we have been ...
As the year draws to a close I am reminded of the wonderful journey to South America I shared with a good friend of mine five winters ago. It was enriching to get a taste of different customs and celebrations over the holiday season on our journey. An experience that stands out in my memory is our stay in the Chilean desert in San Pedro de Atacama. We were lucky to find a very small, family operated hostel. As New Year âs Eve was approaching we noticed scarecrows being buil
Have you ever asked yourself, “is what I believe worth believing?” I’ll bet you’ve never gone inside your mind and watched how your languaging and believes create the outcomes you’re getting.
Before I started writing, coaching and performing my juggling gig, I ran in the home business/MLM world. It was great. Exciting. Loved it. Did pretty well too. I still get my residual check years after walking away from the business.n n There were lots of dead bodies on the side of that ...

Alex came to me for some coaching on writing. I asked him how often he wrote, and Alex said maybe once a week for only a few minutes. He also said he was writing less and less. I asked him about his writing process. Alex said that he tries to imagine a story from beginning to end in his mind first before writing anything. He tries to imagine every detail, and every word that is said before he writes even one word. And that's usually where he gets stuck. He just keeps rewriting his opening scene over and over again until it's perfect.
Over the past, ahem, 30 years, I have learned some critical lessons in the care of my contact lenses – yes, my tiny gas permeable pieces of plastic that help me see and that also enhance the blue of my eyes – every day. Did I know that I could learn such profound lessons from something so small, transparent, and voiceless? Hardly. The first experience happened about the time I was dealing with my failed marriage: my soul was dying, I thought, and we had a daughter, age 4, to consider here – it wasn’t just about me.
I remember being a young mom and finally getting my baby on a routine. Oh, I've got it down now. I just need to feed him at 7, change his diaper, and put him down for a nap from 9-10:30. I have a whole hour and a half to take my shower, do the dishes, make phone calls... Finally! I had figured it out! I could do this mom thing. :-) Until... He changed! :-0 What?! He entered a new phase and didn't want to go down for his nap at 9 anymore. Even when he finally fell asleep,
They say that aging is one of the causes that lead to the deteriorating of your brain’s performance. As you grow older, your memory becomes out of form, this is why there are illnesses such as the unfortunate Alzheimer’s disease. Fortunately, there are already known ways that can help you better your brain performance, thus giving you the protection from the dreaded brain deterioration.

I'm driving dow Farmington Avenue, the main drag in Bristol, Connecticut this morning. I'm already in a good mood, as one of the primary intentions I set out for myself yesterday has already manifested. As I head west toward the high school I looked up at the sky. I see something ...
We spend an inordinate amount of time and energy devoting our literal life essence in an attempt to do, what cannot be done. When we start to shift more and more of that energy over to what can be done, and in alignment with our goals, we are then practicing an incredible power to manifest all that we desire. In this "tell the truth now, tell the truth later" method of success, all of our dreams, with no one and no thing left out, have the greatest possibility of coming true in real time and space. That, more than anything else, is the world I desire to live within.
One of the biggest challenges we all face is the ability to consistently concentrate on our goals, our aspirations, our career, our dreams. With all of the many tasks and obstacles we encounter each and every day, how do we keep on our toes, and focused on all of those? I know I do, let me share with you one of my favourite techniques! Ok, so, think of a particular goal of yours - now, you have it? Great! Do you find it hard to stay on the path?
Have you noticed that your words and actions get misinterpreted by others and do not bring you the outcomes you want? Words and actions can be easily misunderstood. When that happens, I suggest you look at your intentions and attitude. When they are positive and constructive, your interactions will have less conflict and your relationships will be more fun and rewarding.
Most of you are fence sitters. You are not sure that you really want to be here. How many times have we heard you say, “If things don’t get better, then I’m out of here!”? This is a catch 22, because things won’t get better unless you truly choose to be here now, no matter what. It is your resistance to committing to being here, to fully embody your biology and reality that is causing the pain and problems in the first place. Embodiment. You have no idea what it really means.
My brother and I were fascinated with get-rich-quick schemes when we were in high school. We decided to buy one particular get-rich-quick scheme we saw in an infomercial. The guy in the infomercial touted he had made millions by starting a business in his one bedroom apartment with classified ads, and that he wanted to share this secret, which we purchase with three easy payments. We knew there had to be a catch, but we wanted to see for ourselves what it was.
Take a deep breath and feel the air flowing in and out of your body. Each breath we take in is new and fresh in this moment. We can’t breathe in the past or the future, only this present moment. So it is with everything we do in our life; it is only happening in this moment. Every moment of ...
Inner peace is an experience of inner calm and harmony—“all seems right with me and my world.” This state of awareness is possible each time we stop our incessant negative judgments, work with what is happening now and let go of striving for a desired outcome. These strategies are not new; however, I have linked them together to create a path to serenity.
Blaming ourselves leads to feeling guilty, and feeling guilty can trigger an expectation of punishment. When self-blame becomes a habit, we carry a heavy burden throughout our lives. The feeling that we are being punished for some wrong doing or not being good enough plagues us. Before we realize it, guilt makes us sick, damages our relationships and/or drives our actions. If we avoid blame and guilt and choose acceptance instead, our choices will eventually be motivated by integrity and love. Self-love is a gift we welcome into our hearts.
The notion of creativity is often linked to what we would consider exceptional achievements, like the art of Picasso, the invention of the laptop or the sleek design of the space shuttle. But for most of us, creativity brings its greatest rewards when it expresses quietly and much closer to ...
No matter what error in judgment you may make, whether it’s in your relationships, personally, professionally, or financially, you can learn something valuable about you, another, or this mysterious world we inhabit. Some slip ups are bigger than others and you might even pay dearly in one way or another for them. Others come with consequences or price tags and you probably will wish you wouldn’t have made them, but you did, and that’s okay. You can’t turn the clocks back but you can make great progress and move forward from them regardless of what they might be.
From Medication to Meditation. Meditation is a Great Doctor. Love is the Greatest Healer. Self Help Article. by Shirley Carton © 9/7/2009. All negative behavior will eat away the healthy cells like parasites. WHY DO WE GET ILL ? We have all been conditioned to believe that illness is inevitable, and that it is only by maintaining a degree of physical fitness, eating healthy fresh foods, or by taking drugs in some form, that we can fight infection to restore a breakdown in our biological function.

I have been a true blue co-dependent for most of my adult life. Reading Melody Beatty’s book, Co-dependent No More, was a painful experience, I could only read one chapter at a time, it hurt too much! Everything I read in it struck a cord with me, everything except the alcohol part. Receiving is not about asking people for what you want; rather it is accepting what is given to you, when you are offered what truly would make your heart sing. It is not about accepting whatever is given to you, just because it was offered.
TB Wright What is a distinction? Hot or cold. Up or down. Those are distinctions. They give us valuable information about the world around us. What is a meaning? It's good that it's hot. It's bad that it's cold. Those are meanings. They give us no information about the world around us. They only give us information about the world inside us. We make distinctions because they give us access to our power, through paying attention to the world around us.

The first principle to Awakening to Wholeness is JUST FEEL IT! Feel it all, as fully and as deeply as you are able. WHAT? Does this sound off to you, counter-intuitive, maybe even a little scary? In the past, it most certainly would have seemed so to me. My strategy was more like "If it's uncomfortable, deny it, stuff it, shake it off or reframe it but I'm certainly not going to subject myself to the discomfort of feeling it, NO WAY!" Sound like anyone you know? Today I know that unfelt feelings do not go away.
