By now everyone has heard the quote by Michael Michalko of Thinkertoys who coined the phrase, "If you always do what you've always done, you'll always get what you've always got." Based upon the assumption that you need or want a different result or outcome in regard to your business endeavors, it makes sense that if we want a different outcome, we must be vigilant in our efforts to do things a little differently! But change doesn't come easily to most people and while we want to see effective results, lots of us get stuck in what we perceive as the right way, thereby resisting change.

For those who are eager to succeed in any type of business, it is obvious they must have the courage to find a more satisfying result. With that in mind, for those facing challenges relative to an online business, the best way to discover what works is by being willing to risk and to try new things. In other words, you just might have to leave your comfort zone.

For example, let’s suppose you have a website that doesn’t seem to be attracting your target audience. Instead of just focusing on search engine optimization, why not try something a little different? In other words, be willing to try a new strategy.

By way of illustration, you want to find a way to motivate visitors to take action once landing on your website. Besides having a great web site design along with terrific content, what else can you do to motivate visitors to contact your business? In my professional opinion, you must give your audience some kind of reward for choosing your company. Basically, there has to be something in it for that person so that they are inspired to follow through. If you haven't yet developed a strong reputation, one good way to motivate people to take action is to offer a discount for a first time user. Everyone likes getting something for less money, so it's a sure fire way of motivating potential clients.

For those promoting a new product or service and are not sure how to market it, one of the best ways to promote and market the product or service is to create and submit a press release announcing it to the world. A lot of smaller companies think they're not big enough for a press release, but nothing could be further from the truth. While there are no guarantees that a press release will be picked up by the media, it is by far the most powerful form of marketing for the least amount of money. The chances of thousands of people seeing your press release are very likely and can potentially bring you a large amount of business.

Another potentially powerful way of connecting to your audience is by writing articles. Just about every person reviewing the web is in the market for valuable information and nothing gives you more credibility than authoring an article. Share your knowledge with those who are seeking valuable information and before you know it, you will have established a strong and positive following on the web.

Until you realize the results you're after, building a successful Internet business means you have to continually try new things. If one strategy doesn't work or if for some reason what you've been doing stops bringing in business, then invest in trying something different. Use your imagination! Be bold and keep at it until you find the one strategy that does the trick. Staying in tune with what works means constantly being on the lookout for fresh, effective ways of doing business. Don't become one of the statistics of always doing what you’ve always done and always getting what you’ve always got. Step out of your comfort zone and be willing to try something new.
