Nowadays, it is not uncommon for someone to have difficulty falling asleep. Furthermore, they could know at least one person who has the same challenge.

And, even if there isn’t anyone in their life who has spoken about this, it doesn’t mean that there is not someone in their life who is in the same position. The reason for this is that they could keep what is going on for them to themselves.

A Common Problem

What this illustrates is that this is not something that only affects a small handful of people. Thus, as hard as it will be for them to have this challenge, they are certainly not going to be alone.

This is unlikely to change what is going on for them but what it can do is stop them from believing that there is something inherently wrong with them. What this can do is stop them from experiencing a lot of shame and suffering in silence.

Another Angle

At the same time, as this is a challenge that is often spoken about on different social media sites, for instance, they might not feel ashamed of what is going on for them. Furthermore, as there are so many solutions available, there is no need for them to suffer in silence.

In the past, however, when this wasn’t something that was commonly spoken about and there weren’t many solutions available, it would have been very different. Fortunately, the world has changed since then.

A Big Impact

Anyway, when they go to bed at night, their mind could typically be racing and it could take them not just minutes but hours to fall asleep. And, when they do fall asleep, they could wake up at least once.

Consequently, when they wake up, they can feel exhausted and their mind can be foggy. It will be as if they haven’t been to sleep and they can feel more tired than they did the night before.

Another Part

After this, when they are at work, they can find it hard to concentrate, remember things and be irritable. Thanks to the impact that this is having on them, then, they won’t be just able to put it to one side and live their life.

They will need to deal with what is going on or else their life will continue to get worse. One thing that they can end up doing is going to see their doctor or do a search online.

The next stage

Either way, they could soon learn about the importance of going to bed and waking up at the same time each day, to relax before they go to bed and to exercise during the day. Also, they could hear about the importance of not using their phone a little while before they go to bed, to avoid the stimulation and to stop their melatonin production being suppressed by blue light, and to take certain supplements.

A New Experience

After following what they have learnt, they may find that it gets easier for them to fall asleep and stay asleep. As a result of this, it can start to get easier for them to function in their day-to-day life.

If this is the case, they can come to the conclusion that they have solved their sleeping troubles and be deeply grateful. But, if this or another approach that is similar to it works, what if there is another element that is being overlooked?

A Closer Look

What may have been stopping them from falling asleep is the pain that they are carrying at a deeper level. This pain would have partly been kept at bay during the day as they were generally in doing mode.

But, when they went to sleep at night and were longer in this mode and settled down, they would no longer have been able to avoid themselves. Additionally, if they are carrying a lot of pain, it would be harder for their brain to keep this pain at bay.

A Secondary Defence

If so, being on the go will have also been a way for them to release tension. When they were lying in bed and were not doing anything, they wouldn’t have been able to release this tension, which would then have caused their mind to be busy.

The negative thoughts that arose could then have been a sign that their mind was doing what it could to keep material from other parts of their brain at bay. This mental activity, as disruptive as it would have been, will have been a way for their mind to stop them from being flooded with pain and to keep it together.

A Short-term Solution

If this is so, what they have done to improve their sleep won’t have dealt with what is going for them at a deeper level. What it will have done is cover up what is going on for them and, sooner or later, they could go back to how they were before.

The pain that they carry can be a consequence of the experiences that they have had as an adult and a child. These experiences will have had an emotional impact on them and as the pain that they experienced wasn’t faced and integrated, they are carrying it around with them.

Awareness

If someone can relate to this and they are ready to change their life, they may need to reach out for external support. This is something that can be provided with the assistance of a therapist or healer.
