Neptune is the second of the outer planets. It raises us to different states of consciousness. You will need to open up your mind and senses if you want to understand the energy of Neptune.Despite being such a nebulous planet its subtle force is gentle and is also powerful in its own way. This higher state is one of understanding, empathy, compassion, forgiveness and most of all one of unconditional love. We associate Neptune with illusion, Idealism, aspiration, mystery, spirituality and a sense of oneness.
Mutable energy with the Earth element gives us the sig Virgo. Virgo uses the Mutability to deal with life’s physical needs. Busy with the maintenance of life and the well being of the body. The Earth element gives structure and form to the Mutable quality; therefore it can go into detail, organize and search for information that helps in dealing with life and the understanding of it. The restless and searching aspects of Mutability could go into looking for different or better ways in doing things or searching for solutions.
This is a third in a series of articles in which I try to bring Astrology down to Earth by trying to capture the essence of each planet. The Sun an Ego planet which represents ‘the mind’ is part of the threefold personality where the Moon represents the emotional body, Satu the psychical and now we look at the Sun, the mental body.

The Ego planets of Sun, Moon and Satu makeup the threefold personality, on which I have written articles. Astrological psychology refers to Mercury. Venus, Mars and Jupiter as tool planets because one or more of the Ego planets can use these energies to support their needs. In this article I will be looking at Mercury, its essence and what it symbolises in you, followed by examples of how each ego planet may employ this energy. This may give you an insight how you use your Mercury. Mentally,(Sun), emotionally, (Moon) or physically,(Saturn), and maybe all three!
Having written about the Ego and the Tool planets, I now move on to the ‘Outer’ planets. There are three of them, which have been aptly named ‘the Ambassadors of the Universe’. All the other planets can be seen by the naked eye, and this corresponds to our natural psychological drives that we use automatically. However,a telescope is needed to see the ‘outer’ planets,we need to develop deeper insight. This reflects our need to stretch and grow into the energies that these planets represent. They are part of our Solar system and we all have these higher qualities of potential within us.

The Nodal axis is a very important part of your Birth Chart because it gives insights into your past and future. Although the North Node points to new growth, challenges and possibilities, the South Node can hold a lot of your natural talents and abilities. The South Node shows an imbalance because we have focused much on this area of life which is shown by the house placement. The sign gives information about our innate traits.
It is often when we are short of money, when another relationship has gone wrong or we lose our job, we are made to stop and think! It is problems and adversity that makes us stop and ask questions. It also makes us take stock, search further or look at developing something new or change track. Bringing Birth Chart Astrology Down To Earth
In the past traditional astrologers looked at the Birth Chart as one’s fate. They judged planets and aspects as good and bad in black and white terms with descriptions like favorable, troublesome, benefic or malefic. If someone had a challenging aspect then they would predict hardship, alte atively having a harmonious aspect they would give a more positive outcome. This left no room for self-adjustment and development. New Approach to Astrology
The Yod or Projection Figure came into play when Jupiter in its retrograde motion went to 11 degrees of Gemini. Satu and Pluto were already in mutable reception and now also in sextile.This provides a harmonious relationship that allows structured transformation to happen.
