It is true that we all feel a deep sense of change and many of us struggle to understand our place and purpose in it. We often feel less than satisfied with our lives and commonly live with regrets of the past and where it leads us for the future is uncertain. Divorce is the highest in recorded history, apathy is pervasive, conflicts are ongoing, starvation is yet unsolved, disasters seem more common in this century and many other ailments plague our existence. We have placed

The key ingredients to a fulfilling life are knowing what you want, having clearly defined goals to what you want, and the discipline to live in the present moment, the now. Your goals provide direction and constructive use of your time. A clear goal accomplished in the now is living a realistic life. We have all heard the phrase; “You live in two worlds at one time.” After nearly 40 year of spiritual searching I have reached and understanding and a feeling in this area. Alo
When we feel under pressure or stressed out, we tend to compartmentalize the issues. We categorize the event, the problem, or how we are seeing it and then justify our behavior. Life is not about obstacles or about seeing what needs to be done. We live our lives in constant awareness of the next thing, of always looking forward to what is coming next. This is not life; this is being afraid and trying to manage it. Stress is an overreaction to what you have decided you are either afraid of or what you need to control.
On a recent Saturday evening at around midnight, my wife and I were just about to turn out the light and go to sleep when we heard the sounds of a group of people talking in the street, outside our home. Then out of the blue came two loud thuds above our bedroom window, followed by the noise of laughter and people running away down our street. We both jumped out of bed, I turned on the external lights and rushed outside unsure of what had caused the two thuds or what damage I
If you are insecure, know that you can change this by letting yourself see your self-worth. You do not need to continue on in this life as less, for that is what insecurity does to you. It takes away a part of you and throws it away. When we choose not to claim all of ourselves and see who we really are, insecurities are born. Let's say that you feel at a loss for words around others, that you are shy and perhaps even think less of yourself compared to others. Why does this happen?
We are all meant to exist in a space that is effortless and transparent of need. The drive to excel for monetary gain is false for it will not fill the true need of wellness and satisfaction. Our energy desires for us to be connected to everything, it desires to be fulfilled and engaged, not only with life but from within. True abundance is finding these needs met. Becoming our own true desire, seeing it fulfilled, and at peace with our own actions leads not only to happiness but prosperity in many ways.
Since ancient times, individuals were drawn to the practice of meditation. From the fruits of their labor, treatises were written that remain timeless in their accuracy. And what these "Yogic" "scriptures" reveal to us is both astounding and within our modern day grasp. I want to write this little paper as almost a ...
The concept of enlightenment is an age old idea. Although it originated in ancient eastern religions it has almost taken on a life of it’s own in modern spirituality. You may ask yourself ‘what is enlightenment?’ and like many great sages your answer will fall short of fully encapsulating the totality of it’s meaning. I don’t believe that there are any definitive answers or explanations for what enlightenment is. But, there most certainly are many insights that can help us to
Learning how to live peacefully is about no longer viewing life as a struggle and no longer feeling that you need to be in control or manage anything around you. Finding peace is about acceptance of everything, of not only yourself, but about accepting your place in life. This doesn’t mean in any way that you should give up; it means you can let go of any resistance you feel to the moment you are in. You can still strive for things and be driven, but along the way, you can accept whatever path you are on.
Being at peace is the state of being where one is, fully immersed in life, living connected and completely accepting of all things. It is living without struggle, resisting change, or withholding oneself from life. Become connected by knowing yourself, tuning into who you are, how you are, and what you feel. This connection to yourself will help you in your connection to everything outside of yourself, allowing you to feel at one with everything. The moment you are in right now carries with it this possibility of connection.
If you are dealing with discomfort - in the flesh or emotionally - it is no surprise that you are incapable of thinking clearly. A troubled mind means that you are having difficulty in getting in touch with your internal being, and climbing to enlightenment. Inevitably, deprived of spiritual awakening will lead you to a feeling of self- loathing and despair. Most people, sometime in their life, will seek spiritual meaning to their worldly existence. Many people get a deep roo
A news bulletin came across the airwaves recently like a flash of lightning. Its psychological impact is not yet knowable, but it appears to mark a watershed in our collective evolutionary journey. On April 26, 2009 ABC News Now reported on a study of children between the ages of 6 and 11 who had encountered hurricanes, tornadoes, fires, and mudslides. One-third of these children expressed the fear that "the earth will not be here" when they grow up. This report raises the sp
We need to know that it is not what we are, but who we are that is important. We may believe that we are a product of our environment, that who we are is created by our surroundings, because we react and then become; this is not so. You can live anywhere, become anything, no matter the circumstances. Who we are fundamentally has nothing to do with the outside world. Inside of ourselves lies the beginning and the end of who we really are. Nothing truly penetrates our core. Not our families, our friends, our work, our dreams, nothing does.
Interview with Barbara Marx Hubbard nby Cate Montanann nCM - You are in a unique position after dedicating 40 years of intense work and focus to understanding and assisting human evolution. From your perspective, how are we doing? nnBarbara - My basic metaphor of our crisis is birth. I saw that 40 years ago. What's happened in this metaphor is that the crisis has matured; the crisis has advanced in the sense that now it's more obvious what isn't working. With global warming,
Stress is a learned behavior; it is holding onto something that bothers us, affects us, and imbalances us. We choose, in a way, to accept it and prolong it by holding onto it. Stress was once a factor in our lives when we related it to fear, a response brought on by stimuli and a need to respond. But in those times, we learned to relate stress to only those moments, as was needed, and then we soon let it go. Now, we relate to most situations from a place of fear and therefore are stressed.
The paradox Enlightenment is a big thing... and not a big thing. To attain a state in which you are perpetually happy, at peace, unconditionally loving and carefree is certainly a big thing. But on the other hand, all these internal conditions are intrinsic to your real nature as a spiritual being. So you might also say that to re-awaken to what you already are is, in reality, not a big thing. When enlightenment dawns, it is often accompanied by the thought, "It's so simple!

We all walk through life differently, seeking different options and looking in different directions, but there is one thing we are all the same at and that is how we believe in ourselves plays a huge role in our success as a person. In letting go of old habits we are releasing something that is not only old, but no longer a part of us. It is just a habit that has been formed, a pattern that has been given strength and is no longer serving a purpose. All habits are an occurrence given strength by our previous behaviors.
One of the most misunderstood and misused words in our culture is Enlightenment. Often, it conjures up images of bearded men in saffron robes sitting in lotus position in some secluded temple or cave. For the average person, enlightenment seems to be something out of reach and an impractical goal, yet it is the most practical thing you can do. At its most fundamental meaning, enlightenment comes down to mastering three things: being self-aware in every moment, having a clear
It is easy to get locked into patterns with another person and to find yourself expecting things to always stay the same. Patterns evolve usually because we are not allowing change to take place. We behave in set ways to either make ourselves feel comfortable or to protect ourselves. Patterns are a way of controlling our world around us. When we establish patterns with another person, the pattern become hard to let go of. The pattern itself has taken on a bigger role and has more of a purpose because there are two people involved.
When we are faced with events or moments in our lives that cause us to fear something it is easy to slip into the role of always behaving this way. If an event or moment were to come along that reminds us of something that came before, something we had a hard time with, it is easy to associate it with the current moment or event. We often look at life as a repeating pattern, especially when it comes to our fears, for that which we fear the most we expect to happen again. Why is it this way, why do we make it so hard on ourselves?
I am constantly amazed by the depth of training provided by motherhood for seeking "enlightenment." By that I mean an expansion of consciousness where you transcend your 'self' as an independent entity and experience yourself as part of an existent whole. By analogy it would be like suddenly realizing you are a cell in the human body that creates the body but only by the dependent relationship to other cells. Only the 'body' symbolizes the vast universe or a unified conscious
When we project ourselves forward in time, we alter our behavior now. We change how we feel based on what may be. We begin to think differently because of our thoughts about the future. By being only in the moment you are in, you let go of your future, you let go of planning and trying to control everything. You let go of maintaining any form of awareness you have of yourself in the future. Time is not how we think it is. We believe we will exist as the same as we are now, with only time passing. We believe that we will continue being as we think or imagine we will.
Answer: For Leverage & Increased ROI (Return on Investment)rnIf you buy 1000 shares of xyz stock trading at $20.00, it would cost you $20,000 ($20 x 1000 shares). If you trade a January option on 1000 shares of xyz stock and the option is trading at $1.50, it would cost you ($1.50 x 10 contracts x 100 shares) $1,500. Each option contract has 100 shares. It would be $18,500 cheaper than buying the stock! You have $18,500 to invest in other stocks or options. The reason to trad
There was a lot to absorb on September 11, 2008, with Hurricane Ike barreling across the Gulf of Mexico toward Texas while 9/11 memorials were underway. At times such as these, it is possible to see with the eye of the soulâto try to âread the book of lifeâ with some detachment and discover what it is saying. But itâs also easy to get swept up in the tide of events swirling around us. Change is occurring at a galloping pace, causing familiar landmarks to disappear. Th
In life we find ourselves always pushing, working, and striving for something better, whether it is ourselves, our situation, or something around us. We work very hard at this, sometimes to the point of exhaustion, finding that we can never fully relax and let it be. Who we are is capable of moving past this, of accepting the moment, and thus being able to relax. The constant striving and working at something can leave us feeling restless because there is always more to be done, always something that is left to take care of. But this isn’t true; we are the ones deciding this.
A high-tech fable In the beginning⦠Mind creates. Thatâs basically what it does. Thatâs its basic function. Mind is a creative machine. rnBefore long, we meet mind. As our instrument. We let it do its thing. Weâre too busy, innocently having fun in the here and now.rnWith the help of the senses, mind perceives, substantiates, calls a spade a spade. It then moves on to cognition and interprets sensory perception. Mind thus begins to develop patterns, complexes, mechani
"You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You must do the thing which you think you cannot do." rn~Eleanor Rooseveltrn rnI was twenty-three years old when I had my daughter and twenty-five when I had my son. My husband, at the time, and I had a pretty hefty mortgage and the NOW attitude. We wanted everything that our parents had right then; new furniture, new lawn mower, new everything and so we had some
When we choose to come from a place that is real, that touches who we really are, we are then coming from our true selves. We are empowering our destiny, our truth, and our calling in this life when we act from our true form, from who we really are and not just from our idea or perception of self. What does this mean? It means looking at ourselves truthfully and really seeing if we are true to who we are. It is looking deep within and asking if how I am and how I act is who I really am.
Do you feel like you are not fully you? Like you are holding yourself back, waiting for something to change about where you are and what you do? Are you overburdened by the day to day stuff that has extended into being your whole life? Is this how it is supposed to be, does it really feel like it? You know the answer is no, there is more but what is it? There is a balance between your duty to job, family, even life and what you really are meant for.
During certain experiences, we may find ourselves trying to protect ourselves by closing off our heart. We close off our emotions and shield ourselves from others and their behaviors so that our heart will not become hurt even more than it is. How others behave toward us affects our openness. The situations we experience alter our perception of how open we can be with our heart and with ourselves. If we are trying to protect ourselves because of past experiences by closing off our heart, then the past is all we will feel.
rnHave you ever thought - what is the difference between you and me, or you and him/her? Of course, you can point out numerous differences. But, basically there is no difference at all. There is no difference at all among all manifested realities of this existence. All these so pin-pointed differences are there just because of our thoughts. You are a bundle of some specific thoughts; I am a bundle of some specific thoughts. Just imagine- if no thoughts were there in our mind
Depression is a form of escapism; it is a way of protecting one’s self from the outside world. By reverting inward one is able to let go of reality, to turn off events and withdraw. Depression can be caused by many events, real or imagined. It is a sense of being overwhelmed, being overtaken by emotion, the world, or even ourselves. Sometimes the idea of who we are and how we interact with the world becomes too much. And the easiest behavior is to pull back, withdraw, and wait it out. Best not to deal with the situation, for even the idea of it becomes overwhelming.
The Tree Embraces Its True Nature The secrets of creation may be found within the infinite wisdom of a tree. A tree can teach us much more than we may even come to know. When we are challenged by situations that seem insurmountable to us, the tree provides a gentle comfort through its spiritually guiding ways. It is not a surprise that âThe Tree of Lifeâ is a well known phrase that conveys poignant symbolism for the deeper meaning of life. The tree represents an essence o
Learning to recover from moments of stress can be a valuable tool to have. Letting go of the stress connected to a moment that has passed can feel hard and sometimes difficult, for even though the moment has passed, our bodies and minds are still replaying the event and holding onto how it felt. How then does one let go when the time has passed and there is a new moment beginning? It can be far too easy to carry the stress forward and to keep it locked into our bodies; this causes fatigue, anger, worry, discontentment, and even sickness.
Do you find yourself stuck in the same role in life, not only with yourself but with the people you know? Because people see you in a certain way, do you keep acting that way? Sometimes it is hard to be who you really are when the interactions you have with people keep you locked in a certain role. How others see you, respond, and relate to you can make you feel like you have to stay in a specific role in life. People do this to each other all the time, even to themselves.

At a time when thereâs so much uncertainty, dejection, dread, and disappointment around us, it may become more challenging than usual for some people to hold onto faith. Itâs important to note that this situation should be handled with care.rn rnPeople are often quick to judge and hold the other person accountable for struggling to believe in God. This approach can do more harm than good. Instead of being âcalled out,â people should be âcalled in.â If a friend, fa

I would like to talk awhile about ghosts if I may, a concept more people believe in then we are led to believe. I thought that I would come from an unusual angle and talk about the ghosts that haunt you in your sleep. Quite a subtle haunting though for you might not even know its happening. You could be seeing them all the time without recognising them so the first thing on the agenda I guess is to help you recognise them. Now our physical reality alters in their presence (we imagine it to get colder), our mental reality does the same in our sleep (we get more conscious).
How do you relate to the moment you are in when you feel like you are struggling or having a hard time? First, one must look at the reality of what is happening and where you are. It is very important not to confuse the present moment with moments from the past or worry about the future, simply see the moment only as it is. We often take the moment we are inside of and overlay our emotions and our thoughts on it. We perceive things as being a certain way from past experiences; this may not be valid with the truth of where we are now.
The entire manifestation and yet to be manifested existence are nothing, but just the play of 0 and 1. Since 0 is the stratum of the entire process of manifestation, so 1 can exist only when -1 comes into play. Thatâs why, there is always an inherent paradox present in the manifested existence. Matter has to be complemented by anti-matter, crest has to be associated with trough, contraction has to co-exist with rare-faction. The entire manifested existence is nothing, but i
Fear is something we all have at one level or another. Why is it there, what good does it do us? It used to be important as a tool to warn us of danger, to keep us on our toes, and to be more aware. Now, we live in a time where this is almost uncalled for. We go through life aware enough to get from one place to another with very little danger in our lives, but what do we do with the fear that is still present and real within us? Fear can be detrimental to our happiness; it overrides our thoughts and emotions.
To obtain peace one must first find the path that leads us to ourselves. By finding one’s self, one’s true self, we open ourselves up to the possibility of existing without fear, worry, struggle, or blockages in our lives. To be free of withholding ourselves and to exist with nothing in the way, that is peace and all its possibilities that it brings. We are not meant to struggle against life or ourselves. And when we come from a place that is our true self and not the shell we present to the world, then we are free.
We may all have experienced something in our lives that overshadows us. Something that we find somehow defines us, makes us who we are or who we think we are. We pull our past along with us constantly. We give it far more importance than it deserves. We think of it as us, as I, as who we are. Our past is our past, simple as that, experiences come and gone, no more. Yet we believe it is our past that has created us. Therefore, our past is present with us in every moment. This couldn’t be further from the truth.
So Iâve been on a spiritual path for a while nowâ¦off and on for fifteen years or soâ¦a lot more on in the last three. I have had shifts and expansions, awakenings and dark nights of the soul. Boy what a wild ride it isâ¦and for in as much as we may find ourselves uplifted to another consciousness perspectiveâ¦it is in the maintenance of this awareness in which many of us get lost. Now that we see from this new placeâ¦what does that mean? My latest shift has been what
As parents, we feel drawn to do our best, to provide all that we can to our children. We want to give them everything they will need to grow up and succeed at life. But each child is different, just as we are as parents. The connection between parent and child is immense and so important. How you interact, provide, listen, and behave with each other is the groundwork for their life. For you as a parent it can be hard to grasp and understand what your child needs, the uniqueness of the issue, and how to respond.
Seeing the world as new is about letting go of what feels old. It is about realizing the world is constantly changing and that you are too. Because of this, everything around you is constantly evolving, growing, changing, and nothing is repeated. The only thing that holds onto repetition is our mind. We relate what we see through our mind first. Our perception of reality is often far different than what it really is. We believe that what we are experiencing in the moment has already occurred in a very similar way at one point.
