Smart Women Know Cash Flow is The First Goal of Any Business

I have the good fortune to listen and learn from women all around the globe about their big ideas, dreams and goals and a common theme is women start businesses based on their values and a desire to make a difference in the world. The idea of giving back or helping others is exciting and it gets the creative juices flowing. However, the desire to serve can sometimes overshadow the one thing you must do in order to keep your business strong and healthy: cash flow.

Spreading Peace

This morning I turned on the TV for some company while I exercised. The first story I heard was about the shooting of three police officers in Pittsburgh. This was pretty much a repeat of the day before, when I also turned on the TV for some company while I exercised and the first thing I heard about was the shooting of 13 people at a community center in upstate New York. This is why I don't watch the news much anymore. When I had to commute I listened to NPR constantly, both in the morning and on the way home in the evening.

How Your Personal Values Can Affect Your Life and Career

It is very common to hear from career experts that you should define your values first before you could set your career path. This may sound easy, but you actually cannot define your values without knowing what they are actually. Well, your values are comprised of the things you think and believe are essential in the way you work and live your life. Your values are what should help you identify your priorities both at work and in life. It is also your values that you can use to determine whether the things that are going on in your life are part of your plans or intentions.

How to Benchmark Coaching and Mentoring

We know executive coaching is an accepted business tool, we know that everyone from Bill Gates to Eric Schmidt extols its virtues, but is coaching a thing we can grade? What about mentoring too? Is there a quantifiable process by which we can assess the best coach or mentor for our firm or even for a particular need? The obvious answer is yes, but it's a tricky one to arrive at. Benchmarking within coaching and mentoring is difficult for a number of reasons, but if we apply s

What Smart Women Learn in the Recovery Room

A few weeks ago, I had surgery to remove one of my healthy kidneys in order to donate that kidney to my husband Greg, whose kidney was failing, so that he would enjoy a more vital, healthy life. On December 1, we both were admitted to UCLA Medical Center. Everything went well regarding the surgery, however, when I woke up in the recovery room later that day and became aware of my surroundings, I felt restrained and an overall feeling of loss of control.

Does Divorce Have To Have A Negative Impact On Our Kids?

Going through a divorce where there are children involved is an anxiety-provoking scenario with much worry on the past of the parents as to what negative effects the divorce will have on their kids. I firmly believe that it isn’t so much the divorce but how you choose to handle the divorce that will have the greatest impact on your children. Living in an unhappy household where two parents are continually arguing does not serve anyone, least of all the kids.

Highly-educated, highly-intelligent people can do incredibly stupid things

Stress can make even intelligent people screw up, look slightly crazy, and even undermine their health and well-being. It’s true: even highly-educated, highly-intelligent people can do incredibly stupid things under stress. Take the woman, who upon finding that her house was on fire, grabbed what she believed to be two important objects before she rushed out- of- doors. They were an old issue of Time magazine and one slipper.

Business Coaching: Negative Effects of Not Investing in Employee Training

Training employees definitely costs time, money, and other company resources. In most cases, a third party is even necessary to provide job training to employees, which results to additional costs, unbilled hours, as well as missed time. Many employers often hesitate to spend on training employees partly because of their past training experiences, too. It could be that training was done poorly, or the focus of the training just didn't help. Needless to say, failed employee training comes at a huge cost, which is why businesses are often not willing to invest in it.

Are You a Shopaholic?

I read somewhere that women will spend on average 8 years of their life shopping! It was something like 25,000 hours over the course of a 63-year life span. For someone who is more like a shop-a-phobic than a shop-a-holic, this is a staggering concept to me. One out of 20 women cannot control their urge to shop. Whether they need the item or not!

How to Have a Healthy Lifestyle Breakthrough

It sounds so simple. If you want to create change (i.e. achieve something you don’t currently have) you MUST do things differently. Yet so many women I work with come to me determined to create lasting healthy changes by forcing themselves to “succeed” at a plan that has failed them time and time again. If what you crave is a breakthrough, than you must do things differently than you are doing them now.

Domestic Violence: Descriptions of Physical, Emotional, and Psychological Abuse—Part Two, in a Series of Six.

“Even to this day, it is difficult to discuss with some people and provide vivid descriptions what really happens in a domestic violent situation. This is because some do not want to hear the truth and the facts. More than ever before, I feel it is my duty to tell, to inform, to educate, anyone and everyone, who will listen. This is my ‘job’ and calling from God.” – Dr. Gayle J. Hall.

Goal Achieving

As children we grow up with dreams and as adults it is important that we continue them as it is when we stop dreaming that we start to whither and die. Man was born to dream; he was also born to achieve. The more dreams we have the more alive we are, although we don’t always have to achieve our dreams in order to achieve happiness. The mere act of pursuing our dreams, or starting out on the road to fulfilment can bring a great sense of direction, satisfaction and joy.

BECOME SELF AWARE!

SELF AWARE As I went through life, I lost a sense of who I was; I was not aware of certain behaviour patterns and thought patterns that were occurring in my life. I certainly was aware of the patterns of others that I was in frequent contact with, and as we all know, sometimes the behaviours of those we know well become predictable to us. However, I had lost the ability to predict my own behaviour and at 46, had no idea of who I was. A very sad thing that I think many, if honest, can relate to. As a thought provoker, I offer you an “Idea Engineer” from my coaching mentor, Randin Brons.r

How To Follow Your Passion When Your Life Isn't Set Up For That

As a life coach, I help clients understand what their true passion in life is, and then help them set their life up so that their passion can exist within the structure of their life. Now, this is not easy, because our life is currently designed to perpetuate the commitments that we've made in the past. Oddly, that's really the hint or the key to getting our passion to fit into our life, as well. It's all about making commitments and making promises.

Sitting In Judgement

SITTING IN JUDGEMENT No judgmentr Everything in life holds both a blessing and a curse. We deny this when we label the events of our lives as either good or bad. Their neighbors said, "Oh, what bad luck that your horse ran away!" But the farmer replied, "Bad luck, good luck, who knows?"
