We’ve all been there. You had a great idea, plan, or goal and were so enthusiastic about it. But as time went on fear and doubt started to creep into your mind. ‘Am I smart enough to do this?’ ‘Can I really succeed and pull this off?’ Once these types of thoughts form, exte al challenges start popping up. Maybe you run out of money, get sick, or have a new project given to you at work. Staying motivated is a huge challenge for most people, because it’s so easy to get off track.

Diversity in the workplace is extremely valuable - provided of course that all of the members of your team are making a strong contribution and are willing and able to learn from what others have to offer. After all, workplace diversity brings together those with different levels of education and experience; workplace diversity allows those who are fresh out of school to work alongside those who have had industry experience for a number of years and enables women in the workplace to contribute to the company by offering a different prospective along with the work that they put in.
All the top sales people who are committed to having a fulfilling experience in life are in a life coaching program. Well, I say all and that is a bold statement. I’ll explain. So many of the top salespeople I have worked with don’t care about having a fulfilling experience. They care about winning. They care about awards. They care about the juice, the next sale, the win. But then what happens to their lives?
I found myself in this beautiful light room. It must be one of those rooms you would find in a baroque palace. The ceiling was high and decorated with beautifully carved angels overlooking the whole room. On one side there were windows high enough to let the angels look into the world. On the other side was just white ...
I am sure you think as overrated the cliche that 'love is blind' - but neuroscience, this prodigy child of science, unveils with an almost cruel satisfaction that some areas of our brains shut down when love comes upon us, blinding the ration from the smart choices we should make. Brain scans ...
(An adaptation from a business article) Success allergy? How can that be? Success is a concept, not something you eat, drink, wear or come into a physical contact with. Even so, it does appear that a large number of people just may be allergic to success. Perhaps, not in the sense that you ...
Remember Lucy Van Pelt in the comic strip Charlie Brown? I woke this morning thinking about one of her famous lines, “I told you so, you blockhead!” Lucy was known for setting up a psychiatric booth in the neighborhood offering advice to her friends for five cents per person. Clearly she caught the entrepreneurial bug early but I’m not sure I’d want to get my business direction from her. : -) This got me thinking about how women entrepreneurs need to be cautious when seeking advice, coaching and mentoring on their road to success.
‘Tis the season for overindulging and weight gain. In fact, Americans gain more weight during November and December than during any other time of year. Want to stay on track with healthy eating and weight loss (or avoid weight gain) over the holidays? Here are six quick tips: 1. Don’t skip meals. When we let ourselves get too hungry, we predispose ourselves to binge eating and to grabbing the first thing we see—not a good weight control strategy. Plan your meals and make sure you provide yourself with a healthy breakfast and lunch.
Growing up I truly did not believe I had an athletic bone in my body. Participation in sports was not praised in my household, particularly by my father, who seemed to have a personal vendetta against any and all jocks, particularly those of the football-playing variety. The very unkind words coming from a fellow third grader (who shall remain nameless) during a game of gym class volleyball didn’t help either.
I arrive at the doctor's office five minutes late. It seems that's par for the course when you have a baby. It takes a lot for me to get anywhere. Gone are the days where I can wake up, throw on some clothes, pull my hair in a ponytail, grab a quick bite, brush my teeth, and head out the door in fifteen minutes. Yes, I still throw on some clothes, throw my hair back, grab a bite (if I'm lucky), brush my teeth and head out the door... the difference is it now takes me two hours to do that. And then I still arrive late.
There is nothing that has ever been done that hasn’t also been done with nothing. That is the nature of our Universe. We have an infinite number of tools to help us accomplish any task. We have an infinite number of nutritionals and pharmaceuticals to aid in any illness. We have an infinite number of doctors, coaches, counselors, and therapists to help us feel better.
My Life Coaching mentor, Dr. Randin Brons, Has once again hit a chord with this week Idea Generator. Celebrate differences. "Souls don't have races or sexes or religions. They are beyond artificial divisions." -- Brian Weiss Intolerance of differences always exists in people who don't know who they are, people who don't have a strong sense of their own authentic self; the soul within. Intolerance is rooted in fear. The basis for having a strong sense of self-esteem is to replace our unconscious idea of basic unworthiness with a conscious knowing of our fundamental inherent goodness.
For the last two weeks, I have had more space in my schedule and it has been wonderful. More space means that I have time to think. Time to do whatever needs to be done in that moment. Time to see friends that I have been meaning to see for too long.

Even through my 38 weeks of pregnancy, I never once imagined what motherhood would be like. I really never thought about being a single mom. Yes, you hear things will change, but I never truly understood it, which seems to be the case with most things, until you experience them.
The short answer is, You Bet! Too many people equate introversion with shyness, when in fact introverts are simply people who rely more on inner resources than outer ones, and deeply need a certain amount of solitude in which to re-charge their batteries.
Have you ever postponed some thing you really wanted or needed to do until you had a long Wanna-Do List later that never got fulfilled? Have you ever wished for extra time to sleep a bit more, read longer, or do something different? After you’ve finally found the time, have you found yourself doing something else, like flicking through TV channels, spending most of the day in bed or on the couch feeling drained of energy?
Congratulations! You’ve done it all. You graduated from college, got the job, are establishing yourself and then…BAM! The judgment starts. How much money do you make in a year? What is the long-term outlook for your career field? Where do you live? Can anyone have it all: a balanced work, social, and family life? You can feel the pressure coming from everywhere: your friends, family, and the media. One thing’s for sure, you don’t want to wake up middle-aged and wonder, ‘Is this all there is?’ This is where many people begin to feel trapped.
A couple of years ago I was looking for a solution to dream a larger dream for myself. I had been to some self-help seminars and New Age fairs and I still needed to decide on an occupation. I wanted to be a counsellor or therapist of some kind but I did not see how I was going to be in a position to manage to return to school for psychology or even a healing modality and also handle my bills. Then I found that I could train to be a coach and at the same time receive all the t
As a business owner do you ever find yourself trying to act the way you think your clients want you to? Or even more dangerous, are you trying to be more like your competition? Trying to “fit in” is not a smart business strategy. Conformity is not profitable and frankly it’s ...
It’s bad, really bad. You know that this job or career isn’t for you. It could be a nagging feeling, blatantly obvious circumstances, or negatively affecting your health. Maybe it’s so bad that all of your friends and family members know. Even though the writing is on the wall, you still wonder ‘Am I ready?’ ‘When is the right time to quit your job?’ These are normal questions to ask yourself. Leaving a job is a serious action that can have many effects on your finances, family, and future career options. This topic comes up a lot when working with my career coaching clients.

The True Man ShownnnnLive in such a way that you would not be ashamed to sell your parrot to the town gossip. - Will RogersnnWhat is the truth? In the 1998 film, The Truman Show, Jim Carrey plays Truman Burbank, a man whose whole life, unknown to him, is a non-stop TV show that is broadcast worldwide. Truman doesnât realize that his quaint hometown is a giant studio set and that everyone around him, including his wife, are all Hollywood actors. nnBut, through time, Truman g

We hear a lot in business literature about how it’s important to have an “elevator pitch” — a prepared speech about our business that’s so concise we could deliver it to someone on a brief elevator ride. We’re often told to memorize our elevator pitch and practice it in the mirror, making sure we look and sound appealing and confident. This may sound great in theory, but in my experience, when someone delivers an elevator pitch to me, it’s pretty obvious and painful.
Samuel Langho e Clemens, aka Mark Twain once said that “the worst loneliness is not to be comfortable with yourself” and yet he himself suffered from massive insecurities of loneliness. Born premature, he spent the first seven years of his life as a “sickly and precarious child who lived mainly ...
These days finding LOTS of Life Coaches is pretty easy. A simple Google search will yield About 109,000,000 results in (0.25 seconds). That is quite the testament to the fact that Life Coaching is one of the fastest growing segments of the personal development revolution. But coaching isn't just for the 'elite
I do Bikram Yoga. It’s also called “hot yoga”. It is called that because the class is conducted in a room that is heated to about 105 degrees. However, depending on the number of bodies in the class, and the time of day, the room can even be hotter. Bikram Yoga is one of my favorite things and it is also something I resist. I love it because of how healthy I feel after I am done. And when I do it regularly without a break, I feel better in every way. I feel strong. I feel flexible. I do not get aches and pains. My neck doesn’t “kink up”.
Take a moment right now to notice your breathing. Is your breath frozen? Are you breathing shallowly into your chest? Is your breath moving fully and freely in and out of your relaxed abdomen? There are no right or wrong answers. Just notice, without judgment, how you’re breathing. I once ...
I was feeling a bit out of sorts. My creative self felt like it was moving at a crawl and my decision-making at a snails pace. Something was off but I couldn't put my finger on it until I started to reflect over the last eight weeks. I had traveled two times in 30 days to the East Coast to see my father who's ailing and followed that with a week-long business trip. I realized that our home never fully recovered from the holidays. There were "loose ends" in many places which left me feeling unsettled.
Your Internet Dating Profile Marketing yourself in an online dating format can prove to be quite challenging. We are all very complex individuals and it is difficult to effectively state the intricacies of our total being in a few short paragraphs. Since your profile is essentially your first meeting, it is important to give serious attention to this aspect of your online dating experience. Taking care to choose the appropriate words and setting the right tone can offer a solution.
The Holidays are upon us once again and for many of you, this might be the first time around as a new unit, I.E. without your ex. It’s a difficult time, no doubt about it, and just another step in the transition into a new life after divorce. If you plan for this season you can make it easier on yourself. Emotions may overwhelm you right now. Know that you will have major bouts of sadness, anger…whatever. Go easy on yourself. Take good care of yourself and give yourself as much nurturing as you can muster. If you had a friend who was in your shoes, how would you treat her?
Whether you are a fan of baseball, football, soccer or basketball, one of the things that you’ll notice is that only the teams that work well together are able to come out on top. As you strive to achieve all the goals you have set for your business, one of the things that you’re going to want to take a closer look at is company team building.
Anger Management Release of anger (to control) is expressing the anger that you have in a healthy way. Keeping anger inside or making it go away, is not effective anger management and plain and simple…does not work. Effective anger management control involves differentiating unhealthy from healthy expressions of anger, understanding, what is anger and where is it coming from, identifying the unresolved issues behind your anger and learning to heal the pain and trauma that is underlying your anger. Resolution to anger in oneself is relevant in relationships as well as ones everyday life.r
I admit it…I’m a reality TV junkie. To be clear, the “reality” I love to watch is anything that follows people chasing their dreams. The Voice is the one I’ve most recently been hooked on. As inspiring as it is to watch others playing BIG in their lives, there are also life lessons that we can take and run with ourselves. Commit to your visio The contestants that step foot on The Voice stage have one thing in common: they are stepping out of their comfort zone and taking a
A lot of my clients come to me and they’re just like the rest of us; they have a big life. They’re up to things and they’re taking things on. When you get a lot of projects going, it’s so easy to get stressed. There are physical ways to combat stress. There’s exercise, diet, meditation, things like that. 100 percent, yes. Do all that. But I’m not going to focus on those. The most effective way to combat stress is just to realize that stress is an illegitimate response to danger that doesn’t even exist in your life.
Success comes easy for people who place value on making good first impressions. As you meet different people who may eventually be helpful in your career or job search, it is a must that you put your best foot forward so they may have a positive lasting impression on the kind of person you are. In this post, you’re going to learn what any career or personal coach would say about making a good first impression. When in business and networking situations, keep these things in mind: 1. Mind what you’re wearing.
What if today could be your first day ever of consciously choosing and creating happiness? The great news is...that it can. Whether happiness is a science or art, why not bring it back where it belongs, to your life and work at the present, rather than postponing it to some hypothetical future point? Because you can! I've discovered over my years of coaching life and executive clients to success, that it's really true that we are responsible for our own happiness, and that it's perfectly possible to be as happy as you decide to be.
A guardian angel for a happy child is someone who responsibly acts consciously and subconsciously as a guardian to protect and nurture a child's happiness. The common phrase of "watch out - little ears, little ears" always reminds us that a child is hearing what we are saying, however it is more appropriate to say "watch out - little minds, little minds". Whether you believe it or not, our being which includes our words has a major impact on the little ones in our lives, be it our children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, neighbors, friends children, students, and the list goes on and on.
You’ve been hired with a new company. Your trainer is moving up, moving on, or moving out of the business. If you are lucky, the person being replaced will be around for at least a couple of weeks to train in the various duties of the position. Sometimes, the person has already left or has only a couple of days to show you the ropes. In order to make the transition as smooth as possible, without losing workplace productivity, many companies have discovered a vital tool.
Now, that’s a different sort of question isn’t it? I mean, at first glance, you might think I’m talking about a fugitive, or that you’re involved in a hide-and-seek conspiracy with your children. But that actually is not what I’m referring to at all. Instead, I’m talking about you, yourself and you.
There are lots of possible triggers for overeating and emotional eating. Many people turn to food when they feel dissatisfied or trapped or unhappy—when life isn’t working the way they want it to. An important and related skill that many people could work on enhancing is asking for what you want or need or dream of. When people explain to me that they can’t get what they want, I usually ask them if they’ve asked for it. It’s amazing to me how often they haven’t. Sometimes there explanation goes like this: “No, I haven’t asked. What’s the point?
The current recession has proven that just having a job is not enough anymore. Millions of people around the world have lost their jobs and now have no income stream. Multiple streams of income is the safest way to ensure you and your family’s financial health. In good times, you’ll have income from your job and from your business. If you are the victim of a layoff, you can use your business as backup income.
WILL THEY FIND OUT? (Or do they know?) I sit here today a relatively content man. That is the result of a journey to change that I found the courage to start some 15 years ago. Today, the constant worry about will they find out or even worse, do they already know is gone. What a relief! What's this all about? Is he talking about me because I can understand the question and relate. I'm glad to see issues about mental health more out of the closet than ever before and very well known personalities sharing their own experiences.
WHAT AM I THINKING? "I never know what I think about something until I read what I've written on it." -- William Faulknerr Years ago I was in a treatment facility trying to learn how to live life on life’s terms. To say my mind was a super speedway would have been an understatement. Disjointed thoughts continually raced around. What was I really thinking? I was introduced to the concept of jou aling. I must admit, initially, it struck me as silly. Isn’t this what girls do when they keep a diary?r
With so many tasks fighting for our attention, it's no wonder we struggle with feeling productive. For most women, it's important to us that we feel productive, and we usually measure our productivity by our output - how much do we get done in a given day? If we get a lot done, then we feel ...
One of the primary complaints I hear from my coaching clients is that they are unhappy in their professions. Too often, after further exploration of the source of this unhappiness, it is revealed that these individuals did not pursue their current career paths by their own conscious choice but ...
UNDERSTANDING OUR NEED FOR APPROVAL! Everyday we try to survive in a world of expectation and requirements.
TIGER GETS HONEST “At first I didn’t want to look inward. Frankly, I was scared of what I would find—what I had become. But I am grateful I did examine my life because it made me more grounded tha I’ve ever been; I hope that with reflection will come wisdom.” –Tiger Woodsr This is the first indication that I’ve had that Tiger Woods is starting to “get it”. He must have been working with more than a swing coach!r
