"Don't let a mad world tell you that success is anything other than a successful present moment." - Eckhart Tolle When I moved to London several years ago I didn’t really know the place at all. I’d visited a few times with my family for the odd touristy day out but still didn’t know my way around. So when it came to living and working here I knew I had quite a bit of learning to do.

Excuses, we’ve all made them. I’d be a liar if I said that I never made an excuse to try and get out of doing something. Oh, not to mention the endless excuses I’ve made for my food choices over the years or some of my less than desirable decisions, particularly when it came to relationships. And yes, I’ve even made excuses for a loved one's behavior. Excuses are often fear-based barriers. They're used to defend or justify a behavior or even a non-action.
In Divorce Recovery, as well as any other major loss in life, acceptance is the most important and most difficult step we must take towards releasing the past and beginning a new chapter of life. By acceptance I mean the acceptance of your reality, as it exists for you right now: what is and not what we think should or could be. Acceptance means being conscious and accepting of your reality with no illusions or personal interpretations or filters. It also involves giving up blame, resentment and regret.
Yesterday in conversation with a friend who is starting a journey, I asked for input about a topic she might be interested in. Without knowing it directly, and not answering what I had asked, she did answer! It is amazing how early on we can find a bit of dark in the bright light. I am reminded ...
When my older son was diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, my first reaction was relief – I finally knew the reason for his behavior. However, I was also overwhelmed with sadness, fear and anger. I felt sorry for my son and for myself. Like many others in similar ...
Friends are like bras... close to your heart and there for support. I don’t know who said it so I can’t give credit. I love it though, don’t you?
My Energy Hi, many of you will know me as the Artist Jenni Eden. It is the incredible journey I have had with painting that has developed my faith in who I am and my faith with the Universal Energy. If you have been to my website: www.jennieden.com you will see that much of my work is vibrant, bold and energetic. I chose to write down my journey in my book FACE2FAITH -A spiritual journey through paint, available through Amazon and Authorhouse.com. But I have come to realise my energy work goes much deeper.
Humor-Age and Wisdom When doing my journal, I can get very serious. For those that really know me, humor has been a huge part of my recovery and journey, and is evident in most of the places I frequent. My higher power certainly finds ways to make sure I don’t take life too ...
Superior athletes receive the MVP award. Oscars are given to the best actors and actresses. Business owners can earn a designation of "Entrepreneur of the Year". How often have you received the "Best Mom of the Year" award? I've never received that award, and I'm a good mom. We have one of ...
The Law of Attraction has become a widely used phrase in the metaphysical, spiritual and holistic communities for some time now. Although this rock-solid law of the universe has been around since the beginning of mankind, it is just recently that mainstream America has begun to take notice and ...
You have a great idea, you might have a plan, but you have no idea how to get there. Or perhaps, you have a clear goal and a clear plan, but no unbiased, non-judgmental support. Some people ask, “Do I need a life coach?” Let’s face it, we live in a competitive world. There are a lot of ideas thrown out there about what things that will make us happy.
We’re all short on time and we want to spend it wisely. Here are five simple things you can do right NOW that really will make a difference in your life. 1. Set Goals You hear a lot about goals from me because they really are the foundation for change. Set tangible 30, 90 and one-year goals. Write them down and review them every month. Make sure that they are achievable and when and if you feel stuck, do something--anything--that will take you one baby-step closer to your goal. You don't have to know exactly how you'll achieve it when you set a goal.
Your boss is the one to manage all the things that you do on a daily basis. He or she has complete control over many aspects of your work, such as the amount of work assignments you have, the possibility of you being promoted, your salary raise, and so on. But apart from these things, your boss can also affect how satisfied you will be with your job.
At some time or other we all have dreams, hopes and think “if only I could do that” “if only I could make this happen.” With a little work, and belief in yourself you CAN do achieve anything you want. However, the majority of people don’t achieve their dreams because they’re afraid to step out and take a few risks. If you have hopes and dreams you’ve tucked away, take them out, dust them off and create a plan so that you can make them happen. They won’t happen unless you create a way to achieve them. There are only two things you need desire and action!
This is the time of year when many of us will make NewYear’s resolutions-some out of habit, others out of thesincere hope to improve some aspect of life. Research andexperience tell us that most resolutions fail. Why is that? There are many reasons-some quite obvious, such as notreally wanting to ...
Many parents notice only their child's negative behaviors and begin keeping account of them as a score record of wrongdoing or bad behavior. This process could actually encourage more of the same behavior instead of their intended opposite. When a child enters this world and their spirit enters the physical realm they begin to feel the negative vibrations around them whether those vibrations are directed at them or not.
Do you remember your kindergarten teacher? I don’t remember much about her, except her name and the stories she told. Since then I’ve had many more teachers and mentors who have all contributed to who I am today. We learn from all of our experiences and from everyone we meet, some more significant than others. Although we don’t always remember their name, we usually remember the story they told us. When you are a writer, you’re always looking for that story or insight to share. It’s a gift when you hear such a story.
I was sitting in a park recently watching my children play with their grandparents and all at once I heard this deep, booming voice from a distance say, “You must make contact if you want to stay in the game.” I turned to my left and saw a coach working with a girl’s softball team – instructing them on their swing and explaining the importance of making contact between the bat and ball at just the right moment. This made me think about the idea of contact. For me, contact is about making connections in the relationships I care about – both personally and professionally.
Being a first time mom changes you. You can't help but have it change you yet you are still the same person. I'm still the same goofy, adventurous, sarcastic, Type A personality person I was before. I still like the same things and talk to the same people. I'm still driven by passion and the desire to help others in their quests. I still long to find the man of my dreams (wherever he is) and experience that everything-I-do-I-do-it-for-you kind of love.
Earlier in my life, I was bemused at the sight of a number of people who had talent and persistence, but never seemed to get the break that allowed them to display that talent. At the same time, it was puzzling to see much less qualified people rise to the top. Not always, not even very often, but often enough that it was disturbing to observe. It seems as if some people just seem to waltz through life, encountering one lucky break or loving, supportive person after another.
Yes, we all need to bring out the most out of our work day. Given the frenzy in which the business world moves, doing things fast becomes natural for us. Among the things we commonly do is performing all the tasks at hand at the same time. While this might sound like a good idea, in terms of its effectiveness, it really does not amount to anything at all. What more when the task is business lead generation is involved? If you want to be sure to get really qualified B2B sales
Are you lucky? Or do you ever think to yourself: that’s just how it is; I live under a dark cloud; it never comes easy; this always happens to me; it’s just been one of those days; life’s hard. Studies show that 10% of our lives is completely random. The other 90%, according to psychologist ...
In our society the default answer to nearly every question is "Yes." Advertising is all geared towards getting us to say "Yes - I need that." We phrase our inquiries looking for yes: "Would you like more coffee?" "Would you be interested in joining me for dinner?" "Would you help me move next week?" "Would you mind if I asked you a personal question?" "Do you love me?" With such a powerful default answer ingrained in us it can be very difficult to say anything else - often leaving us feeling trapped, guilty, or frustrated as a result.
Before you begin to wonder if I am talking to a bunch of kids, let me explain that I am talking to you, whoever you are. We all need to play every day. Play will make you feel alive and in good cheer. Play makes life worthwhile. Let me define play. Play is any activity that one enjoys doing. We have all played as children and with age comes responsibilities and multiple roles that gradually force us to permit less time for play. Sadly, quite a few of us have even forgotten
Be positive, repeat affirmations or even learn to love yourself are the automated responses most people and most websites on the internet give you. Only problem is these ideas and suggestions are way too simple. Being confident is a way to complexes idea to cover in a few sayings or actually even in one article. To thoroughly, explain building confidence would take years and years of research and thousands of articles.
I received a baby gift this weekend from a college friend. He is one in the group of guys I used to hang out with my sophomore year. I remember the days like they were yesterday. He used to knock on my door so we could grab breakfast before walking to class. I even remember what I ordered each time for breakfast, two eggs--over medium, toast, a glazed doughnut, half of a grapefruit, OJ, and milk... and I would eat it all. Between going out, football games, school, and meals, we were together a lot.

Do you remember the old adage that states there’s your side, there’s my side and then there’s the truth? If we were totally honest with ourselves, we too could see the truth of any situation. Once we accept that truth, we have the newfound freedom to gain clarity, discover our options and make real choices that are based in reality and not a subjective interpretation of what is. The past no longer runs the show. A world of possibilities opens that we might otherwise have missed.
Do you have a To-Do list that is longer than your arm? Do you look at the list and think, “Wow I have so much to do! Why did I say I’d take on that project for the school?” A lot of people carry around with them a lot of “baggage” or “clutter” in their minds, on lists, in their purses, in their cars, and at home. Many people in today’s hectic world hold onto things that they say they should do but don’t. Whether it’s something that you need to take care of, or a phone call to that friend you had a fight with and want to apologize to.
I was a bit emotional today. My son was scheduled for his 15-month check up tomorrow. His pediatrician calls, and I miss it. I return the call, and luckily I do, because she tells me my son is no longer covered by his insurance. What? I am shocked. As I dial the number to his insurance, I can feel myself begin to panic. Letting your one-year-old's insurance lapse is not something any mom wants to do. A kid should not be without insurance. I explain the situation to the agent who tells me that I can no longer just update his paperwork but now I must file completely over. What the heck?
What’s on my mind or what’s on my TV? Both! It’s the US Open and the biggest stage for worldwide tennis there is. I’m reflecting on my trip to the Open in 2001, just before 9/11 when our world changed so dramatically. That trip combined so many metaphors for life. My goal was to see great matches and meet my favorite player Pat Rafter from Australia. And I did both! What a crazy 3 days in Flushing Meadows, NY – a combination of exhilaration, heat exhaustion (man, it’s humid there) and wonderful tennis! Tennis is an amazing game.
Albert Einstein said that the most important question we will ever ask ourselves is this: “Is this a friendly universe?” I love Einstein! He was a genius. (Actually, he really was a genius!) I also love that question. It helps me put things into perspective. There are so many things that ...
In this crazy world we live in, it is easy to get caught up in the negative turbulence around us. With today’s rate of unemployment, financial markets dropping, and sky-high mortgages, we can easily get caught up in the stresses of life. No matter how chaotic things seem, I know of a “life raft of peace” that we can retreat to whenever we desire. Here is a simple meditation practice that will help you find inner peace and reconnect with what is really important. Imagine what you can attract from this place! 1. Find a room, or a part of a room, where you can have privacy.r
When was the last time you checked the air in the tyres on your car? You may have found one to be lacking or perhaps even a little flat. What prompted you to check them? Many accidents are caused due to underinflated tyres, unfortunately my son can vouch for that. So what has tyres got to do with balance and you? Well as a Life Coach my company symbol represents yin and yang the ancient symbol of balance. That was chosen because I believe balance to be the key to a comfortable ride in life.
An Inner Critic is often an active, vocal member of the community of characters that exists inside each of us. Despite the Inner Critic’s starring role, it can still take some time and practice to distinguish its voice. This aspect of our selves has been providing such a continuous running commentary for so long that it has become an entrenched part of our mental clutter. Once we do start to stand apart from the Inner Critic; to recognize its voice, to focus on its tone and hear its messages, we may well find that the Inner Critic can be a formidable adversary to our personal growth.
Do you think you are being effective at work? While it is common for most of us to believe that we are perfectly effective, this isn’t always the case. In fact, we all have certain strengths and weaknesses that have a direct impact on how we perform at work. If you could tweak some of your skills, you will find that you can be even more effective.
The yelling, screaming, fighting and complete disrespect for our fellow men and women over differing opinions was horrible. The debate over the H.R. 3200 Health Care Bill is emotional, complex and highly controversial. We teach our children how to resolve conflict by listening, understanding, and responding with sound and thoughtful logic. Then we behaved worse than our children ever did. As a country, the United States likes to set the example for the rest of the world. Yet the example we provided was one of our more ridiculous.
How many of you have woken up in random mornings with zero idea on how to spend your day? Or more simple; how many of you can mention at least five real goals that you would like to accomplish within the next year? I am pretty sure that some of you answered yes to the first question while others may are having a hard time answering the second one. If you are one of those people, do not panic, you are not alone. There are many people who unfortunately live their lives without a plan; a plan that in one way or another will help them get where they want to go in life.
"Dwell in possibility." - Emily Dickenso To be truely healthy and fit you need more than just exercise. You need more than just eating the right foods. You need more than just to quit smoking, drinking or drugs. Doing just one of those things will help, but unless you add more changes you ...
When it comes to self-improvement, it is too easy to find advice online or get tips from people you know. The question is always if you could put them into practice. For my part, I should say that it’s always a challenge to follow the advice I give other people on how they can improve their lives. But of course, I make an effort and really try hard to do so every single day. Here’s a list of my favorite self-improvement tips that you can freely use to make positive changes in your life: Always try to have a good start.
These days, there seems to be a lot of discussion in the world about “life purpose”. Certainly, I experience this to be the case in the various circles in which I find myself. Oh, the degree varies; the form and substance of the conversation changes. But the upshot of it all is the same: why am I here on this planet? My guess is that the popularity of this topic stems, at least in part, from the influence of individuals like Oprah, who often talk about discovering their purpose and the resulting sense of joy, fulfillment and excitement that comes from living into that.
I love summertime because of all the simple pleasures and fun you get to have with family and friends. It is a time during the year when you can create wonderful memories and experiences for yourself and your loved ones. Some activities I always look forward to are picnics and barbeques, bike rides in the mountains, parties with friends, time at the pool, evening brisk walks, and last minute get together's.
Do you turn to food when you feel stressed or overwhelmed? Does a bad day at work send you off track with your eating or exercise plan? Does an out-of-control to-do list leave you craving chocolate? There are ways to avoid the stress eating/emotional eating trap. Here are three straightforward strategies you can try. 1. Know that you ARE a stress eater This one sounds like a no-brainer, but it's an important tip.

If you are a busy woman with too much on her plate, you may also be sleep deprived. Whether you are burning the midnight oil, having a hard time shutting down your mind at the end of the day, or staying up late to grab some quiet time (this never really works well by the way), once you are short on sleep, things tend to go downhill. Inadequate sleep impacts your energy and concentration. Did you know that it also leads to overeating and weight gain? If you are sleep deprived, you won’t be at your best. Period. That’s no help when you’re trying to get on top of stress and your goals.
By now, everyone knows that LeBron James, one of the world’s greatest basketball players, has left the Cleveland Cavaliers after 7 years. He’s finally made a decision to make the Miami Heat his new home where he will continue to exercise his passion, energy and talent for the game. LeBron took a lot of “heat” for his decision to leave his home state. You may be asking yourself, “Why should I care?” As I watched the reaction to his decision, it got me thinking about how Smart Women have similar situations in their life as well. Huh?
Do you ever listen to your inner voice? Amazingly, that inner voice can guide us to a richer, more fulfilling, and more successful life. How, you ask? Really it’s quite simple – we just have to take the time to listen to this voice. Sounds easy enough, doesn’t it? But in reality, our ...
I'm sure you're aware of the old term, "spring cleaning"? Mother nature reminds us that before you add more to your life, it's always a good idea to let go of what no longer serves you. Like the leaves that fall from trees in autumn, room is made for the new growth that occurs every spring. I'm finding many women entrepreneurs feeling this way right now (including yours truly : -)). Evaluating your business is a smart move, as long as you're willing to ask yourself the right questions and give yourself honest answers:
