In this life whatever happens is never good or bad, it is all simply richly interesting. Have you ever had something happen in your life that felt like a bad thing only later to realize in the long run it turned out to be a good thing? I would like to share a story from my recent travels. I was in Orlando to launch my new “From Success to Significance” coaching program. It was a quick ove ight trip as I didn’t want to miss an excellent GKIC Marketing Group Chapter meeting the next morning.

The other day I instant messaged with a young man who said he struggled with sadness and depression. When I asked why, he told me he had just attended a school reunion. Prior to the get together he’d been feeling great. Post-reunion was another story. After hearing the tales his mates told about what was happening in their lives, he began to attack himself. “Why is everyone farther along tha I am? Something must be wrong with me. I’m behind in life!” He felt tremendous anxiety—he thought he had to push himself to stay in “the race” with his peers.
In our last issue of “Core Connections” we talked about the importance of building a strong and dependable support system consisting of carefully chosen friends with whom you can depend. That was part one of creating a Power House support system. Part two requires creating an inner team of support. When we set out to create a life and business that we love, are passionate about and fulfills us, we often feel like we are doing it on our own. At times it can be very lonely and isolating.

Even the job that you have long wanted can turn into a nightmare if you find yourself having more tasks and responsibilities than you expected. And when you start missing deadlines and getting assigned additional projects, things can get so much worse. These could even result in you having a negative score in the employee performance evaluation or even getting fired from your job. It is the common instinct of employees to keep their struggles to themselves because they don’t want to look or sound like a big failure if they speak about their difficulty keeping up with all their work.
There is a story our Rabbi shares every year during the High Holy days.
"Whole Life Coaching" is an unfamiliar term to many people. It's true that athletes commonly work with coaches to become proficient in particular sport. And recently, working with the coach to achieve one's business goals has also become a common practice. However, life coaching is a bit different. It seeks to address all aspects of your life, instead of simply focusing on one area. And just as with other forms of coaching, an exceptional coach can produce exceptional result

The great Bill Walsh once said ... âNothing is more effective as a sincere, accurate praise, and nothing is lamer than a cookie-cutter compliment.â As a means of mentoring training for the personal worth and personal good of a person, one must invest in building skills through mentoring training.â And Albert Schweitzer who, in my humble opinion, probably never played football, once said ... âAt times our own light goes out and is rekindled by a spark from another pers

Do you find yourself needing a vacation after Christmas vacation? Are you exhausted from all the shopping, running around, buying, wrapping, buying, wrapping, buying, wrapping? Let’s take a look at some simple ways to make this time of year one filled with joy and meaning. What if you were given the chance to hold a higher position in your company but you have to choose between two of them? This is indeed a rare scenario and you should feel really fortunate if it happens to you. Having multiple good options is a great boost to your confidence, but of course, you will still feel the pressure of having to make a decision as to which of those choices you should grab and which one you ought to let go.

Have you ever had a gut feeling about something you should do or some action you should take? I'm going to assume that you have, because what I'm referring to is often called "intuition" and I believe everyone has "it." Let me give you a personal example. I was recently sitting in my office doing some admin stuff when a good friend came to mind, quickly followed by an intuitive message that I should call her. So, I decided to "follow-up" and gave her a call.

“Comfortable” is a deceptive word. On one hand, who doesn’t want to be comfortable? Being comfortable with who you are usually means that a person is satisfied with the way they look or act behind closed doors. Everyone wants shoes that are comfortable, a bed that is comfortable or clothes that are comfortable. So, how can the word “comfortable” be deceiving?
Here are some tips to keep yourself on target without beating yourself up while still finding time to enjoy, sleep, eat . . . In my blog (www.theawarenessinitiative.com/blog) on 7/30/09 I discuss the expression: “Don’t push the river.” Below is a recap of that blog with some time management suggestions to help you to “swim” more effectively. Are you a good boss to you? Would you quit if you were an employee who treats you as you do? I am often my worst taskmaster.
In the past, when someone said something to me that I found insulting or disrespectful, I tried to avoid reacting angrily. I told myself I was probably just being thin-skinned, and that the other person probably didn’t intend to hurt me. Besides, I said to myself in “spiritual” jargon, the anger I feel comes from my ego — my identification with my body, my accomplishments, my possessions, and so on. In reality, I am all that is, I am consciousness itself, I am Atman. How could pure spirit take offense at anything? By letting myself get upset, I dishonor my true nature.
We've all heard of "simple living," and we see the magazines and the news articles and the web sites. I often advocate what I call "voluntary simplicity," by which I mean determining what's important to you and designing a life in support of your values and beliefs. Many people, when they think ...

5 Simple Steps to stopping Negative Emotions before they get out of control. Obviously the question is not a question, but an obvious – “Of course I would and now tell me HOW!!” To the right is a simple 5 Step Strategy for how to take an emotion that is starting to rear its ugly head, and put a lid on it before it gets out of control. The reason why we want to stop this, apart from the obvious, is that when our negative emotions take over, they hijack our brain and ability to use it most effectively. They sort of make us a little dumber! Not where we want to be.
Letâs face it: our lives are a mess, or rather we have made it that. To compete with the mad, mad world outside, we work day and night to succeed, and burden ourselves with more and more challenges. In all the hustle and bustle, we lose ourselves, and then it is difficult to go back and retrieve our true self. After reading this, your lives will be a whole lot simpler. Life coaching programs are not like those mentoring or therapy sessions, which you often see or hear about
We live in a world where quitting is now a widely acceptable option. Everyday, people quit the goals they spent years dreaming about when the accomplishment may just be around the corner. People quit schools without graduating, quit their jobs without another job offer in hand, and quit their weight-loss program without attaining the healthier body weight that they set out to achieve. Even sadder, and more rampant than ever, people quit their marriage without seeking the counselling and coaching that is required to make it work.

A few days ago, I was sitting with my good friend and Smart Woman, Suzanne, in her backyard and I was complementing her on how well the yard was laid out from the play area, pool area, and lounge area. Everything flows so well in accessing the home and the backyard. Suzanne shared with me that the backyard was not designed this way when they first moved into the home. When they bought the house initially, the backyard looked a lot different.
“Explorers depend on the North Star when there are no other landmarks in sight. The same relationship exists between you and your right life, the ultimate realization of your potential for happiness. I believe that a knowledge of that perfect life sits inside you just as the North Star sits in its unaltering spot.”
Women Empowerment does not only come from working in large companies, wearing fancy clothes, managing a team, having your name plate on a desk with your position carved on it. Right now, it is also manifested by women who wish to get more out of life, the work life balance and who work from the comfort of their homes. As I’m sure you’ve learned firsthand, when we let people see our creative work, we risk getting criticized. But criticism by itself, I think, isn’t a problem. It only becomes problematic when we take responsibility for the critic’s suffering and anger. My Criticism Fantasy I’ll give you an example from my own life. While I was writing my book, I had a nagging tendency to imagine ways people might attack it. A very specific “worst-case scenario” kept coming to mind.
When you have the perfect career, work can become more fun than even having fun. This morning my entire world has turned into a winter wonderland. It is a complete miracle of nature. The foot of snow and the brisk winds have created an artistic swirling re-design of the physical world around me. Smooth white curves and peaks and valleys replace the usual stiff lines of roads, homes, and sidewalks. It looks like a still picture of waves on the ocean. It is truly breathtakingly beautiful.
