The innkeeper was changed from apathy to sympathy You probably know the story of the birth of Jesus, especially the part where “there was no place for them in the inn.” Though the Bible does not speak of an innkeeper, there must have been one. Someone had to tell Joseph the inn was full and then grant him permission to stay in the stable. The innkeeper had problems of his own and a business to run. His motel was full, the “no vacancy” sign was lit and he was tired. He was not conce ed with Joseph’s very pregnant wife.

Conversational Manners By Ron Ross Good conversations are fun to be a part of – unless someone is rude. Bad manners in conversation will stifle communication and short-circuit camaraderie. Here are a few simple guidelines for mutually satisfying conversations:
Impolite Children By Ron Ross The child sitting down the row from me in a dark movie theater needed to go to the bathroom. As he passed me in the darkness he stepped on my toe. He did the same thing on his way back. He never said, “Excuse me” or “I’m sorry!” He acted as if I was the problem because I was in his way. Why are so many children unruly and ill-mannered in public? I have the answer: Because the adults who are supposed to teach their children how to be polite have not taught them. Here are four possible reasons why parents fail to teach their children good manners.
“9 Self-assuring Affirmations for When You Need a Little Boost,” boasted the headline. I clicked on it hoping I might learn something new. I didn’t. It was a series of nine little pictures with clever sayings on them. The “writer” provided no content beyond a short introductory paragraph that ended with this: “If you’re looking for a little encouragement, check out the self-assuring affirmations below. Then take on the world with the knowledge that you’re capable of anything.”

Nausea rises slowly in the chamber of your throat and your heart begins to rapidly beat causing your veins to vibrate against your skin. A small ringing noise floods your ear cavity and the person speaking to you can no longer be heard but their mouth is still moving; slowly, painstakingly slow, almost in a time warp where you can see the words forming on their lips before they are spoken. They continue to talk in your presence but have noticed you have long since faded away and they no longer have your attention.

Remember when you were a kid and you had little treats to motivate you to get things done? Like, no TV before homework was done, or ice cream for an a on your spelling test? Well, just because you've grown up doesn't mean you can't still have treats as a reward for getting something done. Treats can be the best motivator for getting just about anything done. And it doesn't have to be a big thing to really work. Unless you're looking to climb Mt Everest, don't give yourself th
Begin Now By Ron Ross The easiest thing you can do if you’re stuck in the mud is to PROCRASTINATE! Do nothing. Just sit there and wallow in the sticky, putrid, dreary muck you have been comfortable in for years. After I earned my 4-year bachelor’s degree I wanted to get a master’s degree. My excuse for not taking classes was that I had a wife and three kids, a full time job, a part time business, and I was active in several community organizations. Besides that I had no extra money for tuition and books. I had plenty of excuses to procrastinate.
Want is the first step in achieving success. Creating a desire, a want, begins the wheels of success to turn. Sadly enough though "wanting" is not enough. In addition to wanting, you have to believe you can have it. I notice that many people say, "I want" and follow that with "but" and list all ...

Hair refuses to cooperate, kids drank the last of the milk last night (which means no cereal for me), new puppy decided to wake up at the crack of dawn (for no apparent reason), and my husband forgot to put out the trash bin. GOOD MORNING WONDERFUL DAY FROM THE GATES OF HADES!
As a coach, Iâm in the business of helping people get answers to their most pressing decisions in life. Now, itâs not uncommon for a client to come or call and say, âI like gardening, playing the cymbals, hiking in the backcountry, helping people, and learning about color theory, healing energy techniques, and Russian Poetry. So how do I put that all together?â Then they pause and wait for their magic answer. They will be pausing a long time, I assure you.nnI will tel
Statistics show that 98% of people watch between three to five hours of TV per day. Some people even have to fall asleep while watching TV, which is deadly to your spirit especially if it’s the news or some other type of negative program. Many of you know my feelings about television. I believe it is a complete waste of time. However, there is one show that I do watch called The Deadliest Catch. I recommend this show for one reason and one reason only...To see the price peop

Futilism believes that life is meaningless, all religious beliefs are fantasies, and moral principles are pointless. Like nihilists, futilists allege that you have no particular purpose for living because life itself is empty, trivial, and spurious. It is literally a dead-end philosophy – life is futile, and death is the end. Your few decades on planet earth are unimportant, and your actions are inconsequential; therefore, it is useless to try anything significant because you are insignificant.
âThe word âCyberneticsâ comes from a Greek word which means literally, âthe steersman.â Servo-mechanisms are so constructed that they automatically âsteerâ their way to a goal, target, or âanswer.â When we conceive of the human brain and nervous system as a form of servo-mechanism, operating with Cybernetic principles, we gain a new insight into the why and wherefore of human behavior. I choose to call this new concept âPsycho-Cyberneticsâ: the principle

Flipping through the channels the other day I stopped briefly to watch a tattoo-covered “artist” rap about abusing women and hating cops while he grabbed his genitals to the fast beat of loud noise pretending to be music. His appearance was disgusting, the lyrics depraved, and his music was awful, but that’s not what upset me. What activated my indignation was what was hanging around the guy’s neck – a great big gold cross. Nothing the so-called artist said or did had anything to do with the meaning of this most sacred symbol of Christianity.
Recently, I was asked for help on getting motivated to stick to a weight-loss plan. This young man expressed difficulty in following through with eating a healthy diet and exercising regularly. He cited having a chaotic schedule and running into moments of weakness which ruined his effort causing him to slide back into his old behavior--a problem all too familiar to so many people who struggle to maintain the motivation to continue on a long-term weight-loss plan. This is an overview of my answer to him. * * *

Ingratitude By Ron Ross Kids are ungrateful because that is how they were raised. At birth, if they were hungry, all they had to do was scream until their mother fed them. The baby had no concept of what the mother just went through to bring the child to full term and give birth, then start caring for his/her every need even before her contractions ceased. The baby wasn’t grateful for the feeding even though a quiet sleep followed.

How would you like to have a 5000+ percent advantage over everyone else? Steven Covey in his book, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People tells you how: “The difference between people who exercise initiative and those who don’t is literally the difference between night and day. I’m not talking about a 25 to 50 percent difference in effectiveness; I’m talking about a 5000-plus percent difference, particularly if they are smart, aware, and sensitive to others.”
We live in a quick fix society and as a result, many people have been tricked into thinking that the results they want in life should come easily and quickly. Turn on the TV or surf the web and look at the ads that are displayed. From money making programs that will supposedly retire you in 6 months to weight loss products like machines and pills that will shed a bunch of weight off in 30 days without much effort on your part, it's hard not to believe getting everything you w
The airport departure lounge was crowded with family and friends bidding us farewell for a 3+ year commitment in Central Africa. I was only 25-years-old and had a wife and two children, had never travelled internationally and had little idea of what to expect upon our arrival in Africa. In short, I was scared. Before we boarded our plane our parents and friends gathered in a circle to pray for us. As we walked toward our gate they formed a line so we could give them each a farewell hug. My father was the last person in line.
Who am I, and, why am I here? Those are the two most important questions you can ask yourself. Let’s answer question 1, “Who am I?” Some say you’re the product of a bit of slime that squirmed its way out of some prehistoric bog and evolved from this to that, then to something else until one day, some fifty-million years later, “YOU” appeared. That’s the good news. The bad news is that after fifty-million years of evolution you’re given only a stingy seven or eight wearisome decades until they stick you back into the bog you allegedly came from? What a deal!
Beliefs are basically concepts that we either make up on our own or that we take over from someone else. The function of believing something is another great ability of your consciousness. The idea of belief that we talk about here has nothing to do with the kind of belief that is usually used in a religious context.

Woody Allen once wrote “Over 90% of success is just showing up.” Do you have a goal which you are not showing up for? One where you are not in action on? Or where there’s something you’ve given up on? Or maybe one where you haven’t even started yet because you are waiting for ”the perfect time” or until you have “more information” or until you have “more support” or some other version of that? Consider that whatever resistance you have created for yourself around that goal,

So...it's the New Year and we all know what that means...new years resolutions! “My gosh you guys are twins!” declared a young lady who entered a retail store as my brother and I walked out. To be honest, I had never thought my brother was that good looking, but who was I to argue with the absolutely unsolicited and unbiased opinion of a rather lovely young lady?
Too many of us have too much time, too much emotional energy, too much intellect and too much talent invested in things we can't and won't change... and too little invested in the stuff we can and should. I know that sometimes I have a propensity to be somewhat verbose... so today I will be ...

Be Prepared for your Opportunity In 2007, I applied for an electronic technician job and a year later, they finally respond with a call. It was the Department of Transportation. First off, why did you get married anyway? Did you view it as something you just do because your momma or daddy did it? Did you dream about it when you were little and just wanted to do it because it seemed like fun? Did you do it because you were forced into it? Or, did you do it because you were commissioned by something far beyond what the natural eye can see?
At the age of 22, Jessie Lee Ward, a post-graduate with top University honors, could not afford a $300 rent per month to live in her mother's basement. Her ten-hour a day job at a pathology lab did not help much to alleviate the situation. She was resolved to do something better, something bigger, and one fine day leaped towards party planning. She invested in a $299 starter kit (a huge amount for her at that time) from a company where she spent the next four years of her lif
