As a human being, one has the ability to lift others up and make their life easier, or they can pull others down and make their life harder. There are going to be some people who generally fit into the first category and then there will be others who generally fit into to the second category. However, to say it is something that is completely black and white wouldn’t necessarily be accurate. This is because there will be some people who will have a positive influence on other people’s lives at certain times and then there will be moments when they don’t.

I got splattered with hate tweets after my last post on sexual harassment. The white hot venom that came my way something I had never seen before. As an executive coach, I was surprised to hear of four cases of sexual harrassment in two weeks which prompted me to write the post. However, readers' comments on the last post show that there is a blazing fire of sexual harassment burning in many workplaces. Lungfish said: "At work I was once accused, falsely, of harassment and

For some time I have been reflecting on and thinking about what causes the obsession with celebrities. So here is my current outlook on what I believe is going on. Today's Society In today's society celebrities are often worshiped and are objects of obsession for many people. And it doesn't matter what these celebrity's do; for in today's world they don't need to have achieved or done anything. Just by the mere fact of being famous is more than enough for some people. Healthy Role Models
The purpose of ego boundaries is to protect the self. And through having these in place, one will know the difference between who they are and who someone else is. They allow for ones inner space to be protected and looked after. These are not visible to the naked eye like a physical body is. And although everyone has a physical body, it does not mean that everyone has ego boundaries that are invisible. As ego boundaries are what make one feel safe or unsafe and not the physical body itself; it shows how important they are. Muscle Building
In today’s society there is a common mentality and this mentality is often called - The Entitlement Mentality. On the dictionary.com website this is described as: The fact of having a right to something and the amount to which a person has a right. So what this means is that one has the right to something and that this right is not based on having earned the right. This right exists regardless of one having to do anything. My Opinion
A lot of our members have requested some guidance on how to answer this question, because it's a question that a great many women struggle to answer with conviction. Of course, there is no infallible litmus test. How boring life would be if there were! So this article is not intended to give you any sort of checklist that leads you to an easy answer. I'll leave such contrivances to the teenage magazines. What I aim to do is provide you with some food-for-thought that will hel
When it comes to compliments there are some people who can accept them gracefully and others who completely reject them. It may be that one rejects all compliments or only compliments that come from certain people. This can relate to men who reject all compliments from women or women who reject all compliments form men. And then there is the work environment; where one may reject compliments from colleagues. Accepting compliments from friends may also be a challenge.

The power that I am talking about here is personal power. And this is more about the power that one has over oneself than it is about having power over others. Another term that is often used for this is self control. And although having power can lead to having influence over others, this is purely a by-product and not a reflection of power per se.
While a certain amount of approval seeking is part of relationships; when it is out of control and taken to the extreme, it can create dysfunctional consequences and unnecessary pain. And when this happens, a man’s mental and emotional wellbeing is going to suffer. However, in order for a man to seek this level of approval in the first place, something within is already at fault. When two people come together with the intention of having a relationship or just the desire to spend time together, it is generally going to lead to them having sex. And this could be something that both of them equally want to experience or something that one of them is more attached to than the other.

We live in a time where brands are everywhere and there is more or less a brand for everything. From branded water; to branded clothes and anything else that one could imagine. Part of the brand experience is that it creates sense of trust for people; that they can rely on the brand to deliver on its promise. And based on these associations that the brand creates, one can then feel safe through using the brand.

The word mask is described as: an object normally worn on the face, typically for protection, disguise, performance or entertainment. Emotional Mask However, the mask that I am talking about here is an emotional mask. This can effect: how one sees themselves in the mirror; how one believes other people see them and how one feels about themselves and their capabilities.
A person's self-image is the mental picture, generally of a kind that is quite resistant to change, that depicts not only details that are potentially available to objective investigation by others (height, weight, hair color, sex, I.Q. score, is this person double-jointed, etc.), but also items that have been learned by that person about himself or herself, either from personal experiences or by internalizing the judgments of others. Those items include the answers to such q
Although one can have the desire to be in an intimate relationship with someone, it doesn’t mean that this feels comfortable. In their mind this could be what they want and yet when it comes to making this a reality, it doesn’t feel right. What feels right is for them to stay away from intimacy in general and should they happen to get into a relationship, then there will be the urge for it to end. And this urge could arise as soon as it has begun. So this is going to create conflict and self sabotage is going to take place.
There are people who take just about everything personally and this doesn’t have to be the words that other people say. It could relate to how another person looks at them and what one experiences in the world around them. This can also relate to specific situations where one is being given feedback from another; how they are performing at work or the views from their family and friends for example. Two Sides
You can tell for sure. Introverted babies and toddlers move away from lights, noise, motion and people. Extroverted babies move toward them. If your baby moves away from people, it doesn't mean your little one is going to be unsociable, it just means he or she is going to be an ...
It is often said that women show how they feel and men keep their feelings to themselves. And this is surely going to apply to some men and women, but not all of them. It is simply a generalisation and one that allows people to navigate their world more easily. One reason why it is this way is due to the role that each gender has played for so long. Being a woman has meant that one is allowed to reveal how they feel and this is normal. Where as being a man has meant that one needs to hide their emotions and this is what is normal.
There are many descriptions that can be used when it comes to how one goes about getting their needs met. While some are called needy, others are often called needless. However, no matter how one is described: what is clear is that everyone has needs. To be human means that we have needs. And for the person in the middle of these two extremes; this means behaving in a way that allows for these needs to be met in an empowered and functional way. The Two Extremes

There are going to be people who feel comfortable expressing every emotion on the spectrum and then there are going to be others who are not in the same position. When someone does feel comfortable with their emotions, they are not going to deny how they feel. This will allow them to not only be honest with themselves; they can also be honest with others. And during those moments when it is best for them to keep their feelings to themselves, they can still acknowledge how they feel. Emotionally Aware
nMillions of American teenagers and adults will voluntarily injure themselves today. Some will cut themselves with a knife or razor Others will burn their skin with matches or a cigarette. Some will hit themselves or bang their heads against a wall, or pull out their hair, or stick needles into or pick at their skin or break their own bones. Millions more will do this tomorrow, and next week, and during the coming year. The behavior of self-harm appears to be on the increase
When it comes to being successful, it is often said that one shouldn’t take no for an answer and that they should keep going. As if they were to give up after they experience negative response, they are not going to get very far. It is then going to be in their best interest to be persistent and not to let anything stand in their way. Through having this approach, it may only be a matter of time before they start to make progress. Resilience
Our self-esteem is a measure of our self-worth or the value we attribute to ourselves as human beings worthy of attracting happiness, abundance, love, and fulfillment into our lives. It includes yet goes well beyond just our self-image to encompass every aspect that makes up our unique self-identity. Having strong self-esteem and self-confidence is a priceless asset. As children, you rode in cars with no seat belts or air bags. Riding in the back of a pickup truck on a warm day was always a special treat. You drank water from the garden hose and not from a bottle. You shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle, and no one actually died from ...
When it comes to how human beings communicate with each other, there are many different aspects involved. During those moments where one is face to face with another, it is not just what comes out of their mouth that matters. If one was talking to someone through text, email or via social media, it would be completely different. In this instance, the words that one uses are the only thing that matter, but when it comes to talking to someone in person, the words that one uses are not as important.
Self-esteem is a condition, a state of being. Unfortunately, it is not something we can put in a box with a fancy ribbon and hand out on occasion. It is observable in behaviors, but other than that, it's an inside job. According to the National Association of Self Esteem (NASE), self esteem is, "The experience of being capable of meeting life's challenges and being worthy of happiness." nn How we arrive at a condition of high or low self-esteem has been the subject of extensi
The true meaning of "It’s always Darkest before the Dawn" This famous quote is truly rooted in energy healing. Many people believe a number of myths about self-confidence. They’ve heard these myths from relatives or friends, or perhaps they’ve read them in books or in articles. These myths can be very damaging because they keep people from developing their self-confidence. They make people feel they can’t move forward, they can’t grow, and they can’t become who they dream to be. Let’s review these myths and why they’re patently untrue. Myth 1: Self-Confidence is Determined at Birth
When it comes to human development, emotions are generally ignored and have been exceeded by other areas. In recent years there has been an intense focus on ones physical side and this has lead to people joining gyms or going for runs for example. And when it comes to ones intellectual side; this is something that is usually taken care of through school, college or university for instance.
We all have our own style of behaviour and this can change when one is around different people and based on how one feels. As one grows and changes as person; this can also lead to ones behaviour altering. And there will be times when ones behaviour is a response to situations and other times when it is a reaction. If it is a response it will be coming from a place of awareness and self control. And if it is a reaction, it will be coming from a place of unawareness and lack of self control. Part Of Life
Do you lash out when you feel criticized? Everyone can get defensive in certain situations, but if you're getting defensive most of the time you feel criticized you may be damaging your relationships or your chance for raises and promotions at work. There are several things you can do when you feel criticized that can make you feel better about yourself. If you get defensive before you even have time to think, you'll have to work backwards. As soon as possible after a situation where you were defensive, take a minute to think about where you felt it in your body.
Just because someone is available at one point in time, it doesn’t mean that they will continue to be available. There is the chance that they will continue to be around or everything could change, and they may be extremely hard to get hold of. However, without even going into how much someone can change, it is to be expected that they will not always have the same amount of time available to see other people. But, if someone is available one minute and then unavailable the next, it is naturally going to make one wonder what is going on. Confusion
No matter how much someone learns in life there are always going to be things they don’t know about. That is part of life and is something that one simply has to accept. That doesn’t mean that learning is therefore futile, if anything, it could feel like a weight has been lifted from ones shoulders. As if one has felt the need to know everything in life, to hear the above can allow them to let go of a lot of the pressure they have created for themselves. So during those moments when one doesn’t know something or they are wrong, it is not something to feel ashamed of or bad about.
How you talk to yourself about your body and how you believe others see you directly affect how confident you are conce ing your body and your looks. Here are two people who use negative self-talk and are extremely unhappy because of it. Riana's Negative Thinking Riana can only think negative thoughts about her body. When she gets ready for work, she looks at herself in the mirror and says, “Why can’t I lose weight? If I could get rid of this stomach, I’d be able to finally be happy. I should start exercising today – or tomorrow.”
It is part of human nature to look to others for guidance in how to behave and what is right or wrong for instance. And this is not good or bad; it is just how things are. What can turn it into something dysfunctional and unhealthy is when someone copy’s behaviours and ways of being that are destructive, abusive or dangerous. During ones early years it is normal to look to others and this is because one is still forming their sense of self. This means they are constructing their identity and learning about what they like and don’t like. Childhood
The word 'Drama' is commonly heard and used in today's world. This could be to describe something on TV or in a film. It can also describe what is going on in one's life or the life of another person. Dictionary Meaning
To have a relationship where one feels a healthy sense of love from another, is one of the most important elements of having a fulfilling relationship. Love can mean different things to different people, but generally this can include: affection, kindness, support, validation, touch, care and trust. And while this can be a fundamental need that people can have in a relationship, it doesn’t mean that everyone will experience this. For the person who feels lovable; this will often be a part of life and something that is normal and taken for granted.
On the welcoming page of my Relationship website I have 12 Lessons in Life which are very important to me. Among them is the statement: Never make someone your priority when to them you're only an option. Those words have ended up being the most popular search key words for the website, especially from North America! I am not sure why that is. However, my own instinct tells me that a few people have read the 12 Lessons, then cannot remember the website but remembered those awesome words and are passing them on to friends or colleagues, who are then trying to find them.
When it comes to the psychological development of a child, the needs of the child are of the upmost importance. And not only are they important in the child's journey to becoming a functional adult; as extreme as this sounds, they can also be the difference between whether a child lives or dies. In an ideal world, the child's needs would be met when the child needs them to be fulfilled. But this is something that doesn't always happen and as a result of this, the child's needs often end up being neglected. child Abuse
When people are asked what they want in life they will often say success. And while this can be the case, it doesn’t mean that everyone has the same meaning of what that actually means. There are going to be other people who are already successful and they are probably going to say that they want more. But just because someone wants something, it doesn’t mean they will be able to enjoy it when they get it.
People lose confidence everyday, and when they come up against adversity; that is the time when their character is truly tested. Some of us might thrive and some of us might falter, it is how we tackle the situation and ourselves in our mind first and fore most that decides if we come out of a situation with our head held up high or low on the ground. Confidence is the secret to bravery, and there is nothing that can compare to having self-confidence in our own abilities. It
Do you get depressed easily? If you do, ask yourself not "why" are you depressed, but "how" are you depressed. Now, don't look at me like I'm crazy. I just happen to think it's interesting to know "how" a person gets depressed. I would just like to know, if I were in your body, "how" would I ...
When someone has a relationship with another person, ideally, their body, heart and mind will be shared. This means there will be a physical connection, an emotional sharing and an intellectual exchange. But this doesn’t always take place and this means that one could have a relationship with another that is only physical and there may or may not be an intellectual side as well. So one could believe they are in a relationship and to the outsider, this could also look to be the case. Emotional Sharing
Sometimes you may want to start a new good habit and it’s difficult to do. You want to get out of bed earlier to exercise, you want to iron your clothes while you’re watching television, you want to do homework for your class instead of watching a movie, you want to eat more vegetables and fruits. You have good intentions, but your body just doesn’t do what you want it to do. You have a vision of where you want to go and what you want to do, but doing it isn’t easy.
