We are used to superimposing our higher intellectual control on the physical mind and its operations. The physical mind still acts, but we generally limit its application through this process. At the same time, however, we do not consciously pay attention to its action or the impact of that action on our overall ability to understand and function in our lives.

The vital mind is the dominant process for most people in the world today who live an exte al life and work toward some form of fulfillment, success, progress or development in their lives and in their relations to family, friends, community and their society. Very few, comparatively, are those who are predominantly based in the true mental process of the thinking mind or intellect.
The soul is more than just a vibratory light that comes and goes with the passing of material body. The soul has attributes that very few people know about. Here are just a few beautiful attributes of the ete al soul. Intuition - Our soul is the seat of all intuition, insights, and the ability to have spontaneous creativity that inevitably drives forward our life. Intuition is very important because without it we’ve lost our 6th sense… our ability to “know” even before something happens, our ability to sense everything around us and in the universe.
“A Friend Said, “You Can’t Take a Child to a Baseball Game Anymore” Yesterday a good friend came to me and said he had gone to Yankee Stadium to watch a game with his grown sons. In their small section of the huge stadium, there were 4 fights and lots of yelling of terrible words throughout the whole game. He even said, “Nowadays you can’t take a child to a game… this is not good for any child.” What Can We Do?
It’s easy to love those who are easy to get along with. But what about those who are irritating and want to create havoc in everyone’s life? That’s a very different story. People that we get long with are easy to love, but those who are irritating need love too. But at the same time they don’t need to be in our life. Right now there are lots of people who look at the negative aspects of life and try to push their way of thinking upon everyone else. They watch the news, think logically about everything, and whenever anyone thinks differently they get upset, argue, and become very loud.
We think that miracles have disappeared— but the reality is miracles are happening all the time. Here is one small example: True Story of Lost Diamond Earrings Reappearing—
Not too long ago, a mother was in the hospital and she had breast cancer and came down with pneumonia and was not expected to live. And a new doctor assigned to her case and came to see her because she was having problems breathing. And he listens to her chest and ordered a new chest X-Ray but before they had a chance to take the X-Ray she went into cardiac arrest. The new doctor went right into action along with an RN helping him and they started CPR.
I have a friend who wants to start a foundation to help people in third world countries. But he also wants his wife and kids to work with him on his project… but they are not interested.

The more reactive we are to people and events, the more dispersed our awareness is and this draws away from the ability of the practitioner of the yoga to create and maintain the inner connection to the spiritual force that is pressing to manifest the next phase of the evolutionary development. Thus, it is an essential part of the sadhana to develop, cultivate and stabilize the inner being in a focused status that does not let itself be drawn out into the normal physical, vital, emotional or mental reactions that are experienced in our interactions with the outer world.

Whatever an individual focuses on takes on a large, central position and other aspects shift into the background. This is the secret not only of concentration of effort, but also on an understanding of the issues surrounding practices such as psychoanalysis in relation to a practitioner of yoga. Whatever is focused on gains in strength, in intensity and in longevity. Thus, if one focuses on the subconscient layer of urges, desires, unfulfilled vital impulses, suppressed energies, these rise up and take possession of the thoughts, emotions and vital activities.
Sri Aurobindo utilizes the term ‘subconscient’ to signify a level of consciousness that operates below the range within which the normal human awareness is operable. We may look at consciousness as a spectrum similar to what we know of the properties of the electro-magnetic spectrum or the color or sound spectrum. In each case, there is a range of vibration that is perceptible and there are segments of the spectrum both above and below the vibrational range that can be perceived. Whether this is light, sound or conscious awareness, the principle is the same.
.When we try to understand what is meant by the term ‘soul’ we run up against a confusing mix of ideas about what the soul actually is. Similarly, the use of the term ‘psychic’ has its own issues with confused interpretation.

There is a feeling in the air telling us that something is wrong. A feeling we all need to address because the whole world depends upon the vibrational connection of everyone in the collective conscious. There seems to be a feeling of losing hope, which leads to being uninspired, which leads to apathy. And it’s important that we do something about this feeling and not allow that trend to grow. Here are a few simple things at people can do to enliven their soul and feel great again.
We have an aging population in the US and because of that it’s vitally important that we take the time each day to stay in shape. As we get older it’s so easy to slack off. That means it’s even more important to stay in shape when we are older than in our 20’s or 30’s. When we are young we can get away with more and still look great, but latter in life staying in shape means putting in the effort. Here is a simple routine for people in their 50’s, 60’s, and older for staying in shape and feeling healthy and vital.

"And God said, 'Let there be light, and there was light,'" "The light at the end of the tunnel," "You are the light of my life," "I saw the light." If you recorded the times you heard "light" referred to each day, you would most certainly find hundreds of references to it in one form or another. Phrases like: "in light of," "shed some light on," "illuminated" and "radiance" are metaphors often used to describe thoughts about wisdom, hope and goodness. We say "an enlightened p
The mind is always active, jumping from one input source to another, depending on the senses and their objects, the various forms of media we are consuming, including radio, tv, music, reading, social media, etc.; but also on a variety of internal factors including nutritional factors, preoccupations with various conce s or emotions, fatigue, illness, hormonal activity, mental training, and level of focus or inspiration the individual is experiencing. Generally thoughts arise in a scattered and chaotic manner as each of these potential factors presents its energetic input.
The action of the three Gunas pervades and permeates all action including our response to obstacles, setbacks and conce s that arise during the practice of Yoga. When Tamas is predominant it sends out thoughts and ideas of weakness, failure and limitation. When Rajas is in the ascendent it sends out thoughts and ideas of domination, control and pride. Both of these create ‘affirmations’ that impact the body-life-mind complex and colour the response we have to the obstacles and difficulties we face.
The challenge faced by the aspirant trying to bring about the action of a new basis of awareness and action, is that continued reliance on the habitual means and methods of mind, life and body, inhibits the free active intervention of this new consciousness. The process of exceeding the framework of the present requires a methodology that shifts the focus and reliance to that new stance and allows it to determine the modus and timing of the steps along the way. The more we try to control the process, the less opportunity we provide for the higher force to act.
Due to what we may call ‘observational bias’ we tend to attribute intention and motive to others that we ourselves have internally and project our internal response onto the other party, without knowing exactly what the cause of their action may be from their standpoint. Some of this is due to the mind ‘filling in’ information that is missing based on the facts it is able to perceive, something that occurs all the time and leads to both the ability to judge situations with little data, and the mistakes that can occur as a result of a ‘too prompt’ extrapolation.
We are here to end suffering, and with the world going a little bit crazy these days there is a lot to do. Over the last 3 thousand years not much has changed. We still have wars going on, people being oppressed, and refuges leaving their homes, be it now or during the Rome Empire. And their has always been those who stepped up to help those in need. These are angels in disguise that do their work without recognition.

A lady in Georgia asked me yesterday “How do I surrender” and that’s a very good question. If a person is to have peace of mind they need to surrender… but how do we surrender? What is Surrender - Most people think of putting up a white flag and giving up and having the other side take over… when they think of surrender. But spiritual surrender is letting go and knowing in a deep way that everything will be OK if we only have faith.
“We have 3 very important aspects that need our attention” Pure Being - We are “THAT” which is a state of being, as with the burning bush saying “I AM that I AM” it did not say I am Bill, Bob, or anything else, it was and is that which has existed and would continue to exist for all ete ity… and it’s very existence is pure BEING. It’s only our mind that becomes confused. Our heart watches over our mind and notices that the mind is confused, thus the essence of who we are deep down inside is never confused. We are “THAT” which is divine.
Countless unimaginable and unexpected events, such as plane crashes, road accidents, bombing, fire, floods, earthquakes or even tornadoes, keep happening around the world; causing unnatural death of so many people. So, is it because of the personâs karma that he or she dies such unnatural death?rnThe answer is yes! Everyone is experiencing the consequences of their own karma. Even the manner of death is determined by the personâs karma. In certain cases, one may wonder th

When an individual being is under extreme pressure, whether through illness, emotional or mental distress, stress of living in the society or dealing with events and people, the natural reaction at the physical-vital-mental level is to contract, to curl up, to close off, to withdraw into a shell, to try to prevent the power that is active, whether it is due to physical forces, vital or emotional forces or mental forces, from breaking down or destroying the being. This strategy appears to be an important defense mechanism in the lower nature.
Sri Aurobindo identifies aspiration as one of the important steps in the sadhana of the integral yoga. What exactly is aspiration? We can understand it by looking at the operation of a frequency tuner, such as a radio or television tuner. There are numerous channels available, and the tuner allows the user to focus the reception on a specific channel. Aspiration acts as the tuning methodology to focus the attention and awareness on the Divine. Through aspiration, we call the divine forces into our lives.

The way we look at life depends upon our reality and our reality changes with time. Take for instance a man who was neglected as a child and always wanted more from his parents. And his parents were always verbally putting him down and telling him he needed to be stronger. Thus later in life he is always full of fear and feelings of peace, contentment, or power elude him. Thus his reality is totally different from someone who is brought up in a loving nurturing family.
Many times sadness has to do with ego— but we never connect the dots. When we feel the world is going against us we feel we should be treated better, our ego is taking over telling us things should be different. We create our reality according to our actions and thus we have created our karma over many lifetimes. Yet all the great avatars from the past have gone through many challenges and were even crucified— yet we feel we deserve better.
“When Pride Keeps us from Healing” When we have pride that gets in the way of our healing we become stagnant and that leads to many challenges which spiral out of control. But when we admit to our faults and see the good that can come from all of this… we begin to heal.
Once there was a young man (Lets Call Him Tommy) who grew up in an average family with busy parents. Parents who didn’t mean too, but were so busy that they didn’t spend much time with their young son. And because of that Tommy was always trying to get their attention. Sometimes by getting good grades, or being the top of his class, and other times by getting awards and special recognition. But his parents would say, “That’s Great Tommy” keep up the good work and they would go their way doing whatever it is they were doing… thus the little boy always felt alone.

We will certainly be happy when they are out of that stage.nnThen we tell ourselves that our life will be complete when our spouse gets his or her act together, when we get a nicer car, when weâre able to go on a nice vaca
The operation of the Gunas of nature, Sattwa, Rajas and Tamas is noticeable in the spiritual quest as in everything else. The result is that when something new or exciting occurs, it tends to provoke the rising of Rajas and an attempt to grasp and enhance the ego-gratification of the event. Rajas however has its limitations and eventually there is a reaction that either brings on the rise of Tamas, in the forms of ignorance, darkness or inaction; or, if balanced, it can bring the rise of Sattwa.
