When it comes to the world of self-development, positive thinking is often seen as an essential tool when it comes to living a good life. It doesn’t stop there, though, as this is an outlook that has permeated mainstream society.

With this in mind, this is likely to be something that the average person is very familiar with. Perhaps it is something that doesn’t really appeal to them, or maybe it is something that they are fully on board with.

Staying Up

If one does believe that it is important to always be positive, they will probably to do their best to not get caught up in any ‘negative’ thoughts and feelings that arise internally. Additionally, they will do their best not to get caught up in any negativity that arises externally.

In their eyes, the key will be for them to do whatever it is that they need to do to stay in a good place. For this to happen, they are most likely going to need to use a fair amount of willpower and force.

External Support

What might help make this easier is that they could have a number of people in their life that have the same outlook. These people, like them, will believe that it is important to always be positive.

Thus, if one ever finds that their state is changing, they can reach out to one of these people and get right back on track. But if this is not possible, they might end up listening to or watching something that is positive.

An Identity

In addition to this, one could share a fair amount of positive quotes and videos on different social media platforms. This can have a positive effect on them and it can help with the image that they have created of themselves.

Being someone who always appears to be up and positive can allow them to receive a fair amount of approval from others. To some, it can seem a though nothing ever bothers them or causes them problems, with this being extremely endearing.

One Step Further

However, while they may spend a lot of time being positive, and even put a lot of effort into maintaining a certain image, it doesn’t mean that their life is very fulfilling. A few areas might be as they want them to be or this might not be the case.

Yet, what is actually going on in their life won’t be something that has much of an impact on them. They could believe that if they were to allow what is going on to bother them, it would have a negative effect on their life.

The Power of Focus

What is clear is that they will believe that something will only affect them if they place their attention on it. If they do don’t this, and focus on what they want, their life will be how they want it to be.

With this outlook, it is to be expected that they won’t allow themselves to acknowledge any ‘negative’ thoughts or face any ‘negative’ feelings. In their eyes, their focus is going to be exceptionally powerful.

A Few Examples

So, if they have ever experienced a break up, they will have most likely disconnected from how they were feeling. Acknowledging how they felt would have been seen as being negative, something that would negatively affect their life.

If their relationships are not very fulfilling and they continually attract a certain type of person, they will just focus on how they want this area of their life to be. What they won’t do, then, is take a deeper look into why this is.

What Is Going On Here?

Something doesn’t add up here, and that’s because if their focus was really as powerful as they made out, their life would be very different. They are focusing on what they want and, at the same time, their life is not how they want it to be.

Instead of saying that one has the need to be positive, it would be more accurate to say that they have the need to avoid reality – something that includes what is actually going on and their feelings. Through being this way, they have ended up being disconnected from their emotional self.

Nowhere to Run

What also needs to be understood is that one’s life is not merely a reflection of what takes place in their conscious mind; what is taking place in their unconscious mind also has an effect. Therefore, while one can push how they really feel out of their conscious mind, these feelings will still have an impact on their life.

They will still be in their being, and these feelings will have an effect on what they are resonating. Nonetheless, if one believes that their thoughts create how they feel and that their thoughts can remove their feelings as a result, this can be hard to accept.

Neither Good nor Bad

Ultimately, all feelings are neutral; they are simply there to offer feedback. Instead of ignoring how they feel and always trying to be positive, it will be better for them to have a more mindful approach to life

This way, they will be able to face how they feel, without needing to live in denial and to create a life that is worth living in the process. By doing this, they will be able to see that certain ‘negative’ emotions, such as anger, can give them the energy that they need to move forward.

Awareness

If one has the tendency to ignore how they feel and they don’t feel strong enough to face their feelings, they may need to reach out for external support. This is something that can be provided by the assistance of a therapist or a healer.
