Secular solutions for women’s economic security include: having fewer kids through birth control and abortion, offering dawn-to-dusk daycare for the ones you accidentally have, and other after-the-fact band aids to moral dilemmas like government funding for food, housing, and healthcare to replace the need for the bum you had the kid with in the first place. As Catholic biz moms, we know there’s a better way. The Catholic solution for women’s economic security is simple: get and stay married and obey God in all things.

Is there a Difference Between A Goal and An Intention? By Karen Sherwood We are all familiar with the importance of setting goals. It’s difficult to open any achievement-oriented book these days without finding many chapters written on the subject. But what about setting an INTENTION? Is it the same or different than setting a GOAL? To answer this questio I began to look at the images each of these words conjures up in my psyche. For me, “GOAL” conjures up images of sports.
Course correction may be required... Have you ever noticed there is really little one can control except how we choose to react…. I wrote this while winging my way back from Philly the other day. It really was an uneventful flight, yet after watching 100+ people board the plane; I can only assume that "control" is not something everybody understands, yet. I don’t think they even realize they are behaving from a place of overwhelm, thus the reason I titled this "Autopilot." To be fair, overwhelm isn’t just an emotional response, it’s a physical response.
Why do people need a home inventory? That is a question that was posed often seven years ago when my husband and I started our personal property inventory business, and still asked of us today. Thus began our mission to educate anyone who would listen. Speaking engagements are one method to provide this information. We (my husband and I) jokingly state that we’ll speak for food! This is because most organizations – Kiwanis, Sertoma, Rotary, Lions and Exchange Clubs meet either during breakfast or lunch, and we’re invited eat before we speak.
Have you considered we all understand a different language, even when we speak the "same" language…? Below I share some highlights of Janet Allison's (http://www.boysaliveevent.com/) conversation with Bev Martin, communications expert (http://www.bevmartin.com) on the Boys Alive! On-line Event: Discover HIS World. Thanks Janet and Bev for sharing part of your interview here: ——r
How can I make you smile today? I called a local company the other day to make an appointment… The woman that answered had a smile on her face… even over the phone, I could just tell. She made me smile by not only her friendly pattern, but what she said, “Thanks for calling ‘X’. This is Linda, how can I make you smile today?” Those real, authentic, natural smiles are infectious, whether you see them or not… Remember, it’s often the smallest of things that change the rest of someone’s day. Make it a habit to smile.
I was at the city permit department Tuesday, not where you expect to find excellent customer service, but I did. So, I took a moment to get the name of his supervisor and send his supervisor a note expressing my appreciation for his employee’s excellent service. Not only do people like others who show kindness, you know, when I take a couple of minutes to write a quick note, it makes me feel happy too.
Migraines are severe headaches that are triggered by many factors, most often associated with alterations in the body status or surroundings around a person. Migraine headaches are known for their brutal pain and preventing a migraine attack is always better than finding a remedy. This might be the reason why those struggling with migraines are advised to keep a diary of their diet to make sure they don't consume anything that could be a reason for the problem to get worse.
You don’t have to miss out on Catholic family fun this summer, just because you are busy mompreneur. Successful Catholic mompreneurs know how to “be” with their families. They can cut loose when not working, which allows them to pour on the creative and energy into their work when it’s time to get to business. The art of balancing work and play distinguishes happy, revenue generating mom business owner from one who’s burned out, overwhelmed, pulled everywhere and feeling successful no where.r
Let’s be honest, are you really doing everything you need to be successful each and every day? I know, I’m not… so how can I complain… I can’t. A favorite quote of mine is from the character Yoda, “Do or do not, there is no try.” To be in integrity with myself, I have to take an honest look at my intentions, my actions and my results. The "MYs" have it…that’s what they are “my choices.” Why do I bring this up?
"Humility is the quality that will enable you and others to enjoy your success." Charlie Tremendous Jones. I know this person that loves to boast. I'm sure you know someone like her too. She's always bragging about how much money she has or the car that she drives. She'll tell you how talented she is and no one is as good as her at this or that. Think for a moment about your last encounter with someone like that. OK, now imagine that you are standing on a teeter totter. You are balancing in the middle.
If you are one of the numerous teens or adults that have problems with acne infections on your torso, you have probably been looking for information on how to remove acne on your back. Large and aching cysts under the skin, general soreness and redness as well as pus filled pimples and sores are all indications of acne on your back. This condition is usually called bacne to differentiate it from facial acne. This skin ailment is attributable to glands producing excessive oil that together with dead skin cells can plug up the skin pores on your back.
Friend, would you recognize a "good client" if you saw one? A pulse and a checkbook should not be the only requirements. Do you frequently accept a client you THOUGHT was going to be right for you…only to discover down the road that they’re costing you time, frustration and maybe even money? Just like in dating, there has to be compatibility in your client relationships.
Labyrinths are amazing and versatile tools. People who walk them often experience an almost magical meshing of their analytical or rational mind with their intuitive and spiritual consciousnesses. From this altered state of consciousness, we can amplify our intuition, clarify complex questions, create incredible possibilities, and connect deeply to Spirit. One of the questions that people have about labyrinths is how do they work?
We are always talking to ourselves, telling ourselves stories. We interpret the events of our day-to-day lives through the stories we tell ourselves about the meanings of those events. The basic beliefs behind the stories you tell yourself may be holding you back, keeping you from manifesting the life you dream of and deserve. For example, if you believe that relationships are difficult, then when difficulties arise in your relationships, you tell yourself that is normal, and nothing better can be expected.
There aren’t many industries that have been around for a couple decades and still be in – what would appear to be – its infancy. But the home inventory industry is one of those. In the fall of 2008, I published an article titled Home Inventory Service – A Growing Industry. It was true then, as I cited there were only about 20 known service providers in the United States in 2004 and by 2008 over 500 had been established. The numbers continue to grow.
I am so tired of the hand-wringing and the "sky is falling" in the media—creating "brick walls" that are really only of thought and flesh… We can stand at that wall and give our time, our energy, and in turn, our power away in worry or we can look through it with open curiosity to discover solutions. Those that stay staring at the wall dwell on the failure, the winner visualizes through, around, over, and under the wall to discover the solutions.
Iâm often asked about my biggest challenges when I started out with Home Biz Chicks and working from home. So, for the first time, Iâm revealing all â and youâll probably find we share a common story. Here are my top 5 biggest challenges and what I did to overcome them: Taking that first step. You have to take the leap of faith and believe that your business will work. I waited until I had a baby and needed to work from home in order to care for my daughter. I canât
rn1. Know the child. Examining, listening, and learning about a childâs nature, interests, and learning styles often demystifies performance and helps adults guide the child. Adults working with young kids are very busy, but will nevertheless find it priceless to take the time to learn and remember the individuality of each child. This enables adults to greatly improve the guidance they provide by respecting, responding, and building a relationship with each kid. rn2. be ho
“This life is yours. Take the power to choose what you want to do and do it well. Take the power to love what you want in life and love it honestly. Take the power to walk in the forest and be a part of nature. Take the power to control your own life. No one else can do it for you. Take the power to make your life happy.” Susan Polis Schutz. Have you ever met someone who always has an excuse for everything? They blame the economy, their boss, or their upbringing for all of the lack that they have in life. ...If only my parents had done this or that for me...
I was completely distracted last week, my local broadband provider decided I had cancelled my account… I had not. There are 2 ways to fix everything — my broadband service originally choose the first way, the immediate “fix.” To them, I had cancelled my service, and “there was nothing that could be done.” According to the service rep, there was no way the account could have been cancelled unless I had done it and it could not be reinstate.
If you are a Heart-Centered Entrepreneur and are seeking to start or grow your business, it is important to be very clear about your niche. What holds many people back in the area of attracting clients, is trying to make connections with people who are not a good vibrational match to their business. The first step in locating the clients that you want to attract is identifying who you feel most connected to serve and who you are energetically aligned with. This is accomplished by getting super clear on your niche.
I had a client recently with what is referred to as What-if-itis. What-if-itis is when you’re worried about what hasn’t happened yet. She had a prospect that was referred to her but was scared to call because she was scared of what the outcome would be. She didn’t believe that she had the tools she needed for helping the client. We worked on her belief system and got her off the “starting blocks” so she could get past her fear. Once she called the prospect, she had a great conversation and now has a new client that she loves working with.
Tell me if this has happened to you? You meet a great guy, you start to fall for him and *poof*! He disappears. Or... you've been seeing each other every weekend and he suddenly has to work this weekend. And the next. And the next.
Persons who have problems with insomnia find it hard to fall asleep or remain asleep once sleeping has commenced. There could be serious or mild cases of the condition, according to the number of times it is experienced and how long it lasts. It can, therefore, have short bouts or lengthy ones. Fortunately, medication is usually not essential to help the situation. The most effective insomnia treatment options tend to be the natural ones, even though they are not guaranteed to work for one and all. There are things that can be done, nevertheless, to address the condition..

Living life on the fast lane will surely have a drastic impact on your skin health and lead to under eye dark circles. It is important to find time to practice relaxation techniques and adopt an easy-going lifestyle. Rather than pondering over ?how to get rid of dark circles?, try to prevent it by adopting a healthy living style.
Do you have a song that’s really special to you? Maybe it’s “Let It Be” or some love oriented song. There is some reason that it’s a significant song for you. It’s something vibrationally in how they put the song together. It translates into a feeling for you. Have you heard that we use only 10% of our brain? One of your potential skill sets, like learning many languages, is telepathically reading energy and minds. You have that ability, but you’re not currently using it. You’re turning on those parts of your brain now whenever you activate new thoughts.
Now, this is cool…last week, my little blurb to you was about the idea of being mindful of what we say. I got this wonderful “comment” from Hannes in Belgium. Hi Sharon, I’d like to add that we as listeners have also a huge power over words. I find this often underestimated and undervalued. Usually people tend to think that the meaning is added to the words by the person who utters them. But is that really true? I believe people do add meaning to the words we utter, but that that meaning isn’t true until it is properly received. A word spoken is a word half meant.
Write from the soul, not from some notion what you think the marketplace wants. The market is fickle; the soul is ete al. Jeffrey A. Carver. When I was a kid writing was such a big deal. Teachers taught a formal style of writing that was so intimidating. You were supposed to use big words so you would sound intelligent. I was OK at writing as a kid, but I really didn’t like it. Writing for me was a skill to rely on, a necessary evil. Most of the people I encounter will define themselves as bad writers because they see themselves as those 6th grade kids who hated writing.
My friend Stephen attended a workshop over last weekend. As he relayed the event, he commented that the instructor had a favorite response to many questions… “Your choice.” It is our choice, isn’t it? Yet, life doesn’t always feel as simple as those two words make it seem. Sometimes, you have to make hard choices and sometimes the right choice isn’t very clear. Thinking about making a tough choice, first try to reflect on the law of unintended consequences… each time a choice is made other things will change.
“…If thought corrupts language, language can also corrupt thought…”rn~George Orwell At times, things just come out of my mouth… and it’s not until it falls out of my mouth that I’m aware it has an assumption (or two.) Last week, I was trying to express myself to my friend Sparks; it just wasn’t as clear as it could have been.
Insurance policies are very hard to understand. They are long, so that factor in itself deters us from reading them. They also speak a language that seems foreign. By the time you look up every unknown word in the dictionary, all comprehension of what you’re reading is lost. Because of this, many people just take it for granted that they have the proper, necessary coverage. Unfortunately, many find out too late – after they file a claim – that they are improperly or insufficiently insured.
How to get rid of acne on your back is usually a question that lots of people ask themselves during their adolescent years and at times even into their adult lives. Acne that occurs on the back is usually referred to as bacne and is indicated by redness and swelling, pustules and pimples full of pus and hard cysts beneath the skin that may cause permanent scarring. Acne on the back is brought on by hyperactive sebaceous glands that are stimulated by your body's hormones to produce an extra amount of sebum oil. This excess oil can muddle up with skin detritus to clog pores.
Do you spend time comparing yourself to others? Getting frustrated because you think you come up short? This is a problem that everyone has and it is also one that can be overcome with some practice. That’s not to say it will never come up again, but you will be better equipped to deal with it when it does rear it’s ugly head. There is always someone else that you will perceive as being better than you, skinnier, prettier, richer, smarter, etc. The key to getting past this is to focus on what is working for you. Act out a visualization exercise.
"When you achieve complete congruence between your values and your goals, like a hand in a glove, you feel strong, happy, healthy, and fully integrated as a person. You develop a kind of courage that makes you completely unafraid to make decisions and take action. Your whole life improves when you begin living your life by the values that you most admire."Brian Tracy. Let people know who you are by communicating your values. Allow them to become the guiding values of your goals in work and life.
Salad was flying in one direction while spaghetti went another. Voices were getting louder and louder as a hard-crust roll came in contact with a right cheek. Sounds like a college frate ity, doesn’t it? Would you believe it was a middle-aged couple who were also business partners? What started as a nice relaxing dinner, turned into quite an ugly evening. “We decided that night that we couldn’t work together anymore,” they admitted. Is this the normal way married business partners act?
"Without leaps of imagination, or dreaming, we lose the excitement of possibilities. Dreaming, after all, is a form of planning." Gloria Steinem. Begin with a clear vision. Imagine yourself completely leading the ideal successful life. Here is my special exercise to help you get there. Ten Minute Writing Exercise - Your Ideal Future Vision by Patty Sadallah If you think you don't know what you want for the future, think again. Your subconscious knows more than you think. Ten minutes, a pen and a paper will act as a crystal ball for your ideal future in five years.
Breakthrough ideas don’t shower most entrepreneurs when sitting in front of their computers. Inspiration hits like popco when in the woods hiking with the sun shimmering through leaves, running down a scenic path or painting a picture. The Holy Spirit’s artistic flair flourishes most when you are childlike. When you are “being” rather tha “doing”, God’s plan registers best. You might be suspicious how these Kum Ba Yah moments boost profits, let alone how to find time experience them.r
One of the key strategies of becoming successful in your life is in understanding the importance of positive evidences (PEs). Whether you want to better yourself in the areas of financial management, personal relationships, eating habits or parenting, positive evidences will help aid you in nearly any part of your life. What Are Positive Evidences?
Have you ever awakened in the middle of the night worrying about what if the clients don't show up? Or what am I going to do if... Or maybe just felt that sense of, "What am I doing wrong? Why can't I get a break?" In my coaching business there was a point where I could not break through to the success I wanted. I felt alone and it seemed I had to keep dancing as fast as I could or the money and work would just evaporate. Sometimes my clients came in a rush and times were good. We completed our work, the clients left, and it was as if I were unemployed, starting all over again!
Just like real estate’s saying: location, location, location… business is relationship, relationship, relationship. Actually, everything in life is based on relationships. Relationships need to be built on a solid foundation of trust. People buy from people they like and trust. If you don’t have trust, it doesn’t matter how well you’ve drafted your plan, or what you’re offering. If a potential client doesn’t trust you, your foundation is built on shifting sands. Many times "sales-leads" might consider you for the job if your price is the same as your competitors’.
Have you ever thought what it might be like to have more control over the things you are experiencing in your business? Wouldn't it be great to decide who your ideal clients are, and then have them actually appear?
It’s moving day! You packed all your contents into boxes and labeled the boxes according to what room they go in when arriving at the new house. But you didn’t list the individual items as you packed – you didn’t create a thorough inventory. What if some of the boxes are missing when you arrive, or some of the items are damaged? You probably won’t even know it for days, weeks or even months, according to how quickly you unpack. Then how difficult would it be to list what you no longer have? Completely impossible!
You will have stronger, more enduring relationships with your clients and team members if you praise them 5-10 times as often as you say something negative. The same holds true for your marriage and probably your parenting. The sweet spot for healthy relationships is to offer 5 times as much positive feedback as negative feedback. In a given day, you might point out one negative thing that bugs you and offer 5 compliments about what you like. Giving more negative feedback than positive feedback is a characteristic of teams with low performance and of divorced couples.
Each of us is shaped by our family beliefs, expectations and behaviors. These are often passed down through multiple generations. "As you grow up, you're automatically enrolled in an eighteen-year course called "Life Beliefs." This course covers all areas of your existence -- religion, career, style, success, whom to marry or not to marry, pleasure, friends, health, and so on. This course is quite complete; we're in class daily and assigned homework by experienced teachers, usually our parents.
It's not your imagination if money feels tight. Whether you're just starting out or in an established business, a lot of people feel the heat. Experts call our current time the biggest family finance squeeze since the 1920s. The accompanying largest drop in monthly disposable income impacts both your home and business balance sheet, but also the finances of your prospects and customers. Increasing petroleum prices and consequent transport costs have inflated the costs of almost everything you regularly use:
"We can help a person to be himself by our own willingness to steep ourselves temporarily in his world, in his private feelings and experiences. By our affirmation of the person as he is, we give him support and strength to take the next step in his own growth." Clark Moustakas . I struggled for months trying to learn the deep dark secrets of inte et marketing. I had been a consultant and a coach for 28 years, but had always gotten my business by old school methods. When I started the Redwood Sisterhood, the only thing new to me was inte et marketing. That’s all. That was enough.
Unless you’ve had your head in the sand lately, I’m sure you’ve notice the people everywhere are shaken by uncertainty. Another definition for uncertainty is lack of trust. What is trust? The two parts to trust are: 1. an emotion or feeling of confidence or sureness that is not rooted in your intellect; 2. a performance “track” record that confirms the feeling of confidence without worry or suspicion. Trust is frequently taken for granted. A backlash has begun to develop. Consumers are seeking products and services that give them what they promised.
