It seems a minority of people feel genuinely at home in their skin, know who they are and how to go after what they want, and live as their authentic selves. Why is this? Let’s look at where things go off track for the others. We have a perplexing set-up as human beings: We come into our lives to be individualized expressions of our unique selves AND are completely dependent on others to meet our basic needs, for a period of time; and hopefully they meet more than just the basics. After a certain age, we still need others to fulfill the various aspects of our lives.
Top Performers Short List / Online Marketing Sales people in general are a breed unto themselves as their strategy always involves utilizing the sales skills of Persuasion and Influence to convince the buyer that what they sell is needed in the process of closing and getting the sale. My counselor Eleanor recently said to me, “Mike, if you’re trying to prove something, it means you don’t actually believe it yet.” Her words hit me right between the eyes, as they often do. She was right and as I reflect on certain aspects of my life, I can see that where I’m overly attached to proving myself, it’s because I don’t actually believe in my own skill, talent, or value (i.e. I’m looking for outside validation to “prove” my worth)...maybe you can relate to this?
Your husband grips the remote with a mighty hand, surfing the channels relentlessly for something to pique his interest. You say “Oh, that looks interesting;” he says “Boring.” After half a dozen (failed) polite attempts you snap at him: “Well I’m getting dizzy from all the channel-surfing, ...
According to success author, Napoleon Hill, all human beings have six basic fears: 1. The fear of criticism 2. The fear of ill health 3. The fear of poverty 4. The fear of loss of love 5. The fear of old age 6. The fear of death The best way for us to conquer any of these fears is to face each of them squarely, rather than spend the better part of our lives trying to avoid them. The answer to managing these fears lies then in our ability to focus, to maintaining the drive and desire to conquer them, and in our ability to persevere.
If not now, when? Are you one of these people who are waiting for the right time to take action in your life? Did you ever think you might be getting in the way of “you”? If you really dig deep the reason why you probably aren’t taking action is because of the dreaded “f” word…..FEAR. It’s perfectly fine to have feelings of fear. Change and stepping out into the unknown can be scary. Our internal alarm system will go off and all our past issues and voices in our head will start to resurrect themselves.
Life is a series of In-Betweens. How do you spend your In-Between times? Ok, let’s start with an explanation if what an in-between is. In the broadest sense, the in-between is the time between your birth and your death. Then take that and break it down more into the time between being a child and an adult, the time between each year, each month, each week, each day, each hour… You can also think of this as the time between each different activity you are doing. You get the picture.
onto, aren’t they? Can you identify areas in your life where these have reared their ugly head? What exactly is this pattern and how does it affect your life? Resentment
When I went to high school my teachers had it backwards. Instead of helping their students to develop the right thinking necessary to solve a problem, they simply encouraged them to have the right answer to a problem. Their answer-based rather than thought-based focus of education amplified my weaknesses and not my strengths. In turn, my observations of my teachers' motivations were less than welcome. So, I got out of high school with the belief that I just wasnât smart. I
What do you do when you can’t find the words to explain to those around you that the circumstance, the situation, the grip of the condition is so tight you can hardly get enough air into your lungs to keep breathing? What do you do when you can’t stop the tears and every waking moment reminds you of the pain? What do you do when you can’t say a word and you’re so tired of the battle that all you want to do is lie down and give up? What do you do when the systems of this world fail you?
Productivity does not need to be hard. Hard work does not define success, nor real productivity. Success as we tend to define it does not often equal happiness, either. Perhaps if we stop implying that hard work and success are required before we can be happy, we can be happy as we work and become successful, and we can do it with more ease.

How many times have you mentally replayed a situation that annoys you, frustrates you, in some way causes you distress? Silly question? How many times have you replayed celebrations, joyous moments? Most people revisit painful memories multiple times and overlook the ones that could actually help.
Writing tense doesn’t refer to how tense a writer may feel when writing, but is instead about the tense the story is written in. There are a few no-no’s about this that writers, especially new writers, should be aware of. It doesn’t occur often, but occasionally a client sends me a manuscript written in a moment-by-moment manner, as the story is supposed to be happening. Example: Mary walks into the room and looks around. She sees the vase has been moved and puts it back into its proper place. Mary then walks to the sofa and adjusts one of the pillows.
People fall in love with novels because of the characters. This means it’s imperative for you to know how to develop them, and why.
The attitude one has when paying for services rendered is a subject that few people acknowledge or even consider, yet the impact on the recipient goes far beyond simply writing a check or depositing money into someone's account. I recently had the good fortune of working with a client who demonstrated the most impressive attitude and professionalism in regard to payment. I was so struck by his approach and attitude that I was compelled to write about it. And although it may
Have you ever wondered how to overcome difficult issues or problems? Wait a minute. What does that mean? Difficult issues and problems? How does one define a difficult issue? You can assume that anything that makes you feel stressed or that prevents you from performing your job adequately qualifies as a difficult issue or problem. A difficult problem indicates a person, place or thing that is causing interference. A difficult issue implies difficulty that is not necessarily t
Have you ever been belittled? Has anyone close to you ever put you down in the presence of others? How do you normally react when someone does that you? I can safely say that everyone (to some extent) has been subjected to the above-mentioned. On my Life Skills radio segment, a listener asked a question (and, in all honestly, I have forgotten her name). She asked: “How do I handle myself when someone is putting me down in front of others?”
Quitters never win and winners never quit! Actually sometimes the opposite is true. There's a philosophy prevalent in our culture of "never give up" or "die trying" mentality. But some of the most successful people in the world are ones who knew when to hold 'em and knew when to fold 'em. These people are adept at realizing when they should hang in there trying and when it's time to jump a sinking ship.

Are you looking to change your life? Then don't let the past hold you back! If you continue to stress or lament over what happened, you have not let it go. The emotion it holds for you is an anchor stopping you move on. But how do you let go of the past? There are three stages, first acceptance, then approval, and lastly appreciation. This second article in this series covers the first two steps: how to get over it by accepting and approving your past. Acceptance First you ne
It’s inevitable: if you interact with other human beings, you’re going to be subject to an assortment of slights, glares and smirks (if not downright rude gestures). Whether their behavior is intentional or not, the driver that cuts you off, the person in front of you in the “15 items only” line with 25 items in their cart, the sales person who refuses to make eye contact as they text away on their phone--are all annoying. Sure enough, you fume, you have a conversation with

Wow… that was an unbelievable World Series! If you watched it passionately as I did, you know what I’m talking about. Even if you didn’t and you don’t know or care that much about baseball or sports, there are a number of things that made this World Series remarkable and also some important things we can learn from it that go way beyond baseball and sports in general.
Good morning everyone…. I’m walking on sunshine today. What a beautiful day. A thought came to me this weekend when we were racing around trying to get it all done. I thought, “Just in the nick of time.” How many of us operate that way? “Just in the nick of time.” We run from one place to another or one activity to another by the “skin of our teeth.” I see a picture of someone making it onto a subway train “just in the nick of time.” That means that they just made it before the door closed. Whew….with no seconds to spare.
There are times throughout our life journey that we experience fear. We have a choice to look at fear through the lenses of our ego or our spirit. The ego will define fear as a threat. The spirit will welcome fear as an opportunity. Fears that no longer serve our higher purpose may begin ...
Fear is something that we all experience throughout our lives, especially on our journey toward deeper authenticity. Being who we really are, expressing ourselves honestly, being bold, and going for what we want in life can cause a great deal of fear in us. I get scared all the time. When I was younger I thought there was something really wrong with me because I would get so nervous – in sports, in school, in social settings, and more.
Many of us spend our days racing to catch up with ourselves. There are ever increasing demands being made on our time and it can be difficult to know where to turn and what to do next. As we are pulled in different directions we are also confronted with the ever-growing list of ways to communicate with our nearest and dearest, with iPhones, Blackberries, texts, and emails not to mentio Facebook and other social networking sites. They all seem to accelerate our stress rather than improve the quality of our relationships.
The creative process is advanced in the direction we desire - or not - by the power of our words. Words energize our thoughts. Words are our thoughts spoken out loud; they set the trajectory for our thoughts. They are one step closer to determining the actions we take. Guard your thoughts; they lead to words. Words breathe life or limitation into your experiences. They can inspire or they can destroy. So here's a question: What is your internal conversation?
To find your perfect partner you need to keep your mind open and be willing to take a chance. If your expectations are unrealistic, or your requirements are too rigid, you many pass up many opportunities for happiness. Most of us have probably met potential partners that could have really been good for us. We may have failed to give them a chance, because they didn’t fit into the stereotype society tells us the perfect partner must fit.
Rather we realize it or not, posture is a big deal for a professional. Many times people size up a person to decide if they want to do business with them. It is common practice for someone to look for certain clues or characteristics in a person and judge if they are what they say they are. They look at the dress attire, car, and other material possessions. These are what an amateur observer looks for and notice about people with authority and leadership. Although, these thin

A few months ago I got some specific feedback that it would serve me, my work, and my growth to start practicing the art of allowing in a more conscious and deliberate way. While I was familiar with the concept of allowing, I realized I had very little awareness or experience of it in actual practice. As I looked more deeply at it, I realized that I had a judgment about the whole concept of "allowing." It had always seemed weak, passive, lazy, or based on "luck" to me.
Representing personal injury cases can be a daunting task especially under circumstances where in, the fault of the opposite party is difficult to prove. Case proceedings can be relatively easier in workers compensation, defective products and medical malpractice cases. Other cases like road accidents involving cars or motorcycles need expert legal service to recover the compensation due to the victims. Many victims of a road accident tend to neglect the legal aspect of thei

It's a new year......a time when we all decide to try and live up to those expectations we set for ourselves only to be disappointed yet again by our lack of ability to hold onto our convictions even until the end of January. We are all the same, aren't we? So why do we get so angry with ourselves when clearly we are not alone in our struggles?
“All you have to do is think positively and you'll manifest whatever you want!” Is that really how it is? My opinion is no. If you think positively for the attainment of stuff, you're going to manifest nothing. Why? Because when you think positively to acquire stuff, you're putting ...
The drive of a human being is truly unbeatable. Look how far we have come over the course of history. If you went back to the early 1800's and told them about some of the things we have accomplished today, they would look at you funny and have you committed to a crazy hospital. Looking ...

What do you think someone will think of you, or how will they feel about you when they meet you for the first time? What type of ‘mark’ will you leave on them? Have you ever met someone for the first time, and thought or felt “There is something significant about this person?” I read a quote many years ago which changed the way I conducted myself in a professional capacity. The quote was “You never get a second chance to make a first impression” by Will Rogers. Then, I extended the influence of this quote to my personal life.

Things just have not been going well at work lately. A new co-worker is kissing up to the boss and the boss is eating it up. You can see your shot at a promotion going swiftly down the drain. Your "task list" (who comes up with these PC cover-ups for more work, anyway?) is ever increasing, and ...
