Several years ago, I was having a particularly stressful day. My mother had recently passed away and I missed her physical presence terribly. On top of all that, bills were starting to pile up, and I was beginning to wonder if the struggle would ever end. And then, someone called out of the blue ...
A dear friend sent me a story recently that, though quite inspiring, could easily have been imagined. After doing a little research, I found that it did indeed happen on May 20, 2001 during the commencement exercises at Washington Community High School in Washington, Illinois.
In less than two months, Americans will go to the polls to elect the next President of the USA. Given the war on terror, economic issues, elevated gas prices, slumping stock markets and a host of other challenges, this election turns out to be of historic importance. Sure, all elections are ...
‘Trimming away the old encourages new growth.’ This thought washed over me as I trimmed my bushes in the warm sun of a glorious late September afte oon. Not being much of a gardener, I’ve always resisted with a vengeance pulling up or cutting off anything green in my yard; clinging to the ...‘Trimming away the old encourages new growth.’ This thought washed over me as I trimmed my bushes in the warm sun of a glorious late September afte oon.
My Daddy can do anything. Really, he’s proved it over and over again. Another Fathers Day. When I think about the kind of father I have I am in awe. That's why the history and celebration of Fathers Day is interesting. But I'm really more proud of my own Dad. My Dad personifies why we ...
The benefits of a good soak cannot be understated. There is much known about the benefits of sweating out toxins. Now a sauna or a steam bath may not be something that you encounter in our daily life or budget. There is a way to get the benefits of sweating in a sauna or steam bath right in the comfort of your own home. Simply, take a very hot bath, sit there and let the sweat flow. One way to help steam it up and get those sweat glands releasing toxins is to close the curtains and shut the bath room door. You can do so much to add to your steamy experience.
Happy Monday! When I first realized I was awake this morning, I smiled and then I remembered it was Monday. I had a great weekend and would have been happier if today would have been Sunday all over again. And then I laughed, for what makes Monday any different from Sunday or Friday for that matter, but my thoughts about it? A day is a day and nothing more. Itâs the labels and expectations that my thoughts place on the day that make it different from any other day. The hope
Growth in all Dimensions The most effective person is the well rounded person. Being well rounded means that you are able to function on many different levels in life. You can be good at one thing but not good at others. When you have a glaring weakness in one area it effectively diminishes the strength that you seem to have in others. No one is good at everything but we can have excellence in one or two areas and be good in many others.

As motivational speakers and mentors, one of the most common questions we hear is, “How do I find my life’s purpose?” The answer is simply that we all have one unifying purpose. Our purpose is to teach each other and to protect each other. That’s it. From an evolutionary perspective, if we didn’t teach each other, we would never grow as a society. If we did not protect each other, we would all be killed off by circumstance, the elements, or each other. We are all called to do this: teach and protect.
Once I got an email from a woman who had just read my book on patience. She had just had a miscarriage and had discovered she had to wait for a few months before trying again. At first she was distraught and impatient. But she came to trust her bodyâs timing. She wrote, âNow I feel incredibly strong and no longer fear the waiting. This can only help me in other, less traumatic times when my impatience threatens to rear its ugly head.â This woman was failing forwardâen
THE EAGLE from https://myjou eyofaith.wordpress.com/2015/07/03/the-eagle/ The eagle is strong, powerful and able to capture the vision. Generous and trusting – a believe in a God who believes in you. God loves YOU! Attempt to do something great for God, even though you might fail, rather than do nothing and succeed . The psalmist compares God’s care for His people to the eagle’s wings. “Hide me under the shadows of your wings.” Ps 17:8 This involves wisdom and especially faith. Prepare yourself by waiting patiently on your dreams. You will soar to new heights. *
Now in this article I will really put myself on the line because I am terribly guilty of being resistant to change. Change isn’t always good but it is good most of the time. I like to feel like I have mastered my daily routine which is the exact cause of my problem. We like routine because it gives us a sense of comfort. Living an ordered routine like is easy because it seems to put us in control of our situation. When change happens it upsets the apple cart and confuses our ordered mentality.
I have noticed as I have grown older that there just doesn’t seem to be enough time. Time flies by so quickly and once it’s gone it won’t come back again. I have developed a very low tolerance in my latter years for people or activities which waste time. I grow irritated when I deal with people who just don’t have their stuff together and waste my valuable time. I am always looking for ways to do more with the time that I have but there just don’t seem to be enough hours in the day to do all that I want or need to do.
Winners are not always the strongest, smartest, most beautiful, or most talented. They do not always go to the best schools, live in the best neighborhoods, nor born to successful parents. All Winners have one thing in common: Winners believe in their heart they can win. They believe in their ability, passion, and potential. Winners believe in their dreams and visualize winning in their mind and soul. They believe life is not a written script and know their present situation

One thing that I believe that all successful people have in common is that they have established a daily routine of good habits which serves to keep them on top. We are trained at a young age to do our homework after school. If you ask me this is the most basic building block to success. Those of us who master this habit are well on the road to success in other areas of life. Let me use my own life as an example of what I am talking about. When I was a child I was smart enough to dodge every effort that my elementary school teacher made to make me do my homework.

If we wish to lead a sacred spiritual life it does not mean that we do just about anything and everything in its name. True spirituality means imbuing our energies in great tasks so as to attain their fulfillment. Right from the arena of our inner being to the external mundane world, sacred actions must be broadcasted and augmented manifold. Good activities seen the world over is but the fruits of a great pious psyche. If seeds are sown properly a lush green outfield shall sp

As I’m typing my thoughts, I am watching my daughter play outside games with her neighborhood friends. First, they played a made-up game of throwing a ball though hula hoops. Next, it was bouncing a ball in the middle of the hula hoop, which had a number point value scribbled with pink ...

One thing about life is that we are constantly ageing. There is absolutely nothing that we can do about it. We can try to use products which make us look younger or we can take vitamins and supplements and spend hours at the gym but no matter what we do and how hard we try we are going to grow old. The one way that we can take control is to try to grow old gracefully.
Make the Right Choices Every choice that we make in life whether it is big or small has consequences attached to it. We are not in control of everything that happens in life but the overall responsibility is ours. The sum of our choices generally is the reason that we are in whatever place that we are in today.
I just heard some fascinating research about positive psychology and cities. We all know the stereotypes. We all think that New Yorkers are brusk, perhaps even obnoxious. We think of Los Angelenos as friendlier if not a little shallow. And we think of Atlantans as very warm and welcoming southerners. The first question we should ask is whether these stereotypes are true. The second question we should ask is, “If it is true, how does it affect us and our kids?”
Anger is one of our most primitive emotions. It always has, it always will be. It can also be a life saver. When emotions get bottled-up, it puts a tremendous strain on your health, relationships, family, friends, community and business. Anger is one way to let the volcano of emotions erupt without immediate negative consequence, as long as you know how to handle it, channel it and finally, transform it. And if you donât know how, call a buddy, a coach, a mentor or an accou

We all walk many different paths in life and we each have a story to tell. Some of us have faced horrible things in life that we wouldn't wish on our worst enemy and some of us have had an easy road so far. But the fact is we all are on a jou ey of this thing we call life, and we all have a chance each day to make choices that determine which road we choose on that day. I know your past jou ey may have been full of pain and sorrow and sometimes you may think it will always be that way, but it doesn't have to be that way anymore.
There are few things which define a person more than how they react during a crisis. How would Abraham Lincoln or Winston Churchill be remembered if they had reigned during a quiet era of peace? On a less historical level, terrible events such as Hurricane Harvey or the Las Vegas shooting inevitably create heroes who help others and reveal their true character. Most crises in our lives are much less dramatic, but no less revealing. And when everyone is freaking out and panic

A Love Letter to Womankind, From Your Awakening Brother, Mankind (A tribute and an apology to Womankind, from Mankind) I believe that the time has come for men and women to make peace with each other. And I believe that men bear a greater burden in this endeavor than women. I truly honor and respect women, yet many men don't. But, thankfully, that is gradually changing. This letter is written on behalf of all mankind, as an expression of my conce for men and women. Both have suffered far too long from the wrongs of each. We must make peace now.
Trash. We’ve all seen it. Most of us have walked around it, next to it and over it. We pretend it’s not there! Perhaps we’ve become oblivious to it, or we just don't care? This past weekend, our local Camillus, NY Chamber of Commerce organized a small clean up on one main street, in a small 1 mile radius. We were 7 people strong. Included in the group were the Chamber president who didn’t think picking up trash was beneath him. Now that’s an example of leading by example!

Anger is a natural emotion. It occurs as a defensive response to an unlawful aggression, threat, force, violence and intimidation to your well-being. Sometimes being angry is fine and warranted because it is a natural emotion. The benefit of anger is that it spurs us to action. The problem occurs when anger spurs us to the wrong action. If any two people are confronted with a situation their responses will be totally different. A response which angers one person may just be a laughing matter to another. This lets us know that we either choose to be angry or to not be.

Nothing ever stays the same. Our lives are in a constant state of flux. There are little changes, big changes, changes that we initiate, and unexpected changes that happen to us. One thing is for sure⦠change is inevitable. Changes â both big and small â lead us into to unknown territory and sometimes strip us of our sense of control. For some people the idea of moving into the unknown and losing control is terrifying. Others seem to welcome change and embrace the ever-
Yesterday morning I woke up and within one minute of opening my eyes, Iâd jumped into work. I spent the first 30 minutes of my day on my computer, paying bills and tweaking things on the site even before I brushed my teeth! I became stressed right at the start of my day. The day before was even worse. Most of that day I felt I was chasing my tail. My mood was quiet and a bit sad, without knowing why. Thatâs unusual for me⦠I wondered what was going on?nnThis morning I g
The other day I was browsing an online forum that focuses on relationships. They had topics ranging from your relationships with family and co-workers, to dating, to breakups, to general self-improvement, and many more. As I was going through some of the posts, one recurring theme kept staring me right in the face - these people were extremely lonely. We have all experienced this at some point in our lives - I know I have. For a lot of people, the feeling is unrelenting, an
Do you ever have those weeks when certain things happen to you that leave you really feeling down about yourself? Well for me this week was one of those weeks. I was really feeling down about myself and is spite of that, some amazing things happened to me. About a month ago I saw a video of Nick Vujicic from Life Without Limbs and was so inspired by him, but had no idea at the time that I would ever get to meet him. Nick was born without arms and legs and he travels the country speaking about God, and he is such a remarkable man, and that is putting it mild.
