The true purpose of power is to transform yourself and your world. A sense of empowerment renews your life purpose. Shame is the demon. It takes away your joy. The healing process involves letting go of shame that who you are and what you do is not good enough.

As a holistic life coach and spiritual counselor for both individuals and couples, as well as an avid student of my own personal growth for many, many years- I have come to the conclusion that one of the most important things we can do to increase satisfaction in our relationships with ourselves and others is to take personal responsibility for what is ours.
The older I get the more life changes I seem to encounter. Of course you expect major changes to take place when you’re younger. You start your career. You get married. You have kids. Of course those things change your life in a big way. And they did mine. But I pretty much thought that would be the end of the major upheavals until, well you know… I finish my days on this earth. Nope, not the case. I began a series of major changes about 8 years ago when I found myself wanting more than just the status quo. As a result, I sought out more, and change after change ensued.
Communication involves inner and outer worlds through both speaking and listening. With self-expression you share what’s inside you. With good listening you learn what’s inside others. Creativity flows from within. You assimilate ideas from the world and give back something unique to you. New ways of approaching life emerge. As you express your personal truth and individuality, you allow the unfolding of your unique path on Earth. Find your own voice by speaking truthfully and clearly.
While working on my own self-improvement, I’ve found that it’s been quite useful to experiment. I’ve learned ways to grow that balance out whatever’s happening in my life! One starting exercise is to brainstorm talents, skills, abilities and how each is useful. For a starting point, consider problems you’ve been run over by! Examine how you’ve come up with work arounds. Reflect on skills you’ve gained from getting around, past or beyond some of life’s thorny patches you’v
Running has taught me many life lessons. It's an activity that provides great wisdom. Both in terms of how it relates to life, and in the way it opens your mind and allows the voice of your higher self to come through loud and clear. Last week I was running at a lake near my home and this lesson was brought to life for me. You see, there are usually many people walking, running, and biking at the lake in the evening. And this night was no exception. As I was running along, I found myself passing another female runner.
We are influenced by successful people in life and want to be like them. The success of the people affects everyone and we want to bring it down to our life. Everyone's dream is to succeed as successful people, but this is possible only when we learn not only about them but also accept the successful mantras adopted by them in life. Success can vary for everyone, but it is true that every successful man is known by his own work. Apple founder Steve Jobs has been an influentia
The world’s sacred traditions teach that love is the way of life. You are worthy of love. You have a basic right to love and be loved. With a balanced center you can express love for yourself and others. Love is your divine nature and love is your greatest lesson to learn.
Your Inner Peace is crucial to setting New Year’s resolutions and goals that work, are achievable and that align with who you truly are.
Fall means to me a new beginning and a fresh start. The turning leaves, the crisp air, seeing the children head back to school, getting focused and back to a full work week all creates in me a sense of bitter sweet. I am sad to see the lazy days of summer pass, the chill in the air signaling the coming winter freeze. I know it is time again, after those playful and joyous summer days, to awaken what needs to be done, created, bought and sold. Time to get back to work and get
Somewhere between childhood and adulthood, many of us lose our ability to find happiness in life's simple pleasures. Granted life is more complicated for adults. We have responsibilities such as jobs, bills, and children. But far too often we let these responsibilities squelch our innate happiness. We begin to believe that happiness, or the lack of it, is based on what we do or what we have. We recognize that we experience joy when we get a promotion, a new car, or a new client and we begin attributing happiness to these things.
I recently heard another American Idol contestant was kicked off the show for reportedly lying about his past. It seems nearly every season the show disqualifies a contestant for glossing over life details that violate the show's rules.
According to a study by researchers at Kansas State University and published in the Jou al of Financial Therapy there are four money belief patterns that may have a negative impact on our financial health: 1. Money Avoidance
Holiday stress can put pressure on our entire lives and wreak havoc on our ability to maintain our inner peace. These weeks leading up to the holidays can be extremely stressful as we try to juggle our regular schedules and add in all the extra food to cook, shopping to do, family to invite (or not), and more. It can be frustrating, overwhelming, anxiety producing and stressful.
Your self-care involves removing the heavy burden of financial and emotional debts from your life. It can be overwhelming facing these issues however, you will feel lighter and freer just by facing this topic. Make a plan to clear your present obligations and work on any past debts to improve your financial position. It’s time to disconnect from the outer world, so that you can disce and process your true thoughts and feelings from your inner world. Take time to be alone to deal with your financial issues and conce s. This will give you clarity on what needs to be done next.
If you’re anything like me, you sometimes feel like you’re being pulled in a hundred different directions at the same time. Yes, you manage to fulfill just about everything on your “to do” list, but you can end up feeling drained, empty and exhausted or even totally overwhelmed. When you’re feeling like this, you know you've hit a wall and your inner well, or Inner Sanctum, need attention and nurturing.
Have you heard the song, “Live Like You Were Dying” by Tim McGraw? If you haven’t, click on the link and head over there after you’ve finished reading. It really makes you sit up and take notice of how you’re living your life. That’s what it did for me, anyway, when my coach at the time had me listen to it. It gave me chills because it made me realize that I wasn’t really living but avoiding life. I had numbed out. I’d let my fears take over and stop me from following my dreams and living life the way I’d always wanted.
In 2003, I was introduced to the world of personal development. While I have learned many valuable lessons since then, and I have grown (i.e. "developed" I guess you could say), looking back I also believe that some of what was being shared was not what it appeared to be.
Marketing is essential for a business to succeed And, there's a simple, age-old formula for marketing that goes like this… "Offer the Right Product to the Right People at the Right Price and the Right Time" It's taught in business school as the 4 P's: Product, Place, Price, Promotion. It's what I learned when I studied marketing in college and got my degree. It's the strategy I used for years in my marketing career. It's even the basis for the "system" I taught in my very first marketing talk back in the mid-1990's. The 4 P's are about STRATEGY.
Do you want to bring more of what matters to you into your life? There is a tool to help you. What is the tool that will make a difference for you? Your own personal goals. Setting goals helps you organize your life to accomplish what matters to you in your life. Once you have set goals, your desire to achieve those goals will help you to choose habits. Your life is full of something right now! Hour by hour, day after day, you’re spending your time. Sometimes wisely, align
Who’s really beating up on you the most? It’s probably you. Don’t believe me? Stop and notice the way you talk to yourself. One of the biggest obstacles to Inner Peace and developing your Inner Sanctum is the presence of negative self-talk and the way we beat ourselves up. For the most part, this self-talk is running in the background and you’re so used to it, you don’t always notice.
In the success industry there's a lot of talk about money. In recent years, I find that more and more coaches, experts, and gurus talk openly about how much money they make and how much money they can help others make. I suppose it's all in an effort to inspire. To show people what's possible. But are they sharing the whole story and is it a responsible way to market? Consider this... A friend of mine was at a business-building conference when a prominent business coach stood up and shared with the entire crowd, “Sometimes it costs a million to make a million.”
Failure is inevitable. I know that may sound like a negative attitude, but it's the truth. And, it's not a bad thing. When you accept this fact, it transforms you. You no longer feel like a failure when something doesn't work out. You know it's par for the course, and you simply move on. We don't expect every relationship to succeed.

Yes it's finally here! The Year of the Olympics in London when world will focus its attention on us. Some of our towns, cities, streets will have been renovated for this once-in-a-life time event. New shopping malls will have been built to attract the crowds who want to spend, spend, and spend! Transport systems will ...
As a baby boomer woman, I was raised in an era when women were encouraged to fight for equality. Strive for independence. Seek career success. Be paid the same as men. Break the glass ceiling. And, like many women my age, that is the path I chose. I put myself through college. Set my sights on a successful career. Started my own business. Out-ea ed my husband. In many ways, I'm the poster girl for the independent, strong, successful woman. In fact, I believe this mindset is in many ways responsible for my constant striving for success that I detail in my book, Breaking the Spell.r
According to new research conducted by the Haas School of Business at the University of Califo ia, Berkeley, overall happiness is more related to how much you are respected and admired by those around you than the status that comes from how much money you have in your bank account. After considering all the evidence that higher socioeconomic status (higher income, wealth, or education) does not increase happiness and realizing that many theories suggest it should, the psychologists at Cal Berkeley decided to study the matter further.
If you're a solo professional running your own service-based business-such as a coach, consultant or other "expert"-you may wonder how much money you should invest each year in activities to grow yourself and your business. How much should you spend on activities such as marketing, and professional or personal development? It's tough to find an answer to that question.
My inability to effectively balance my work life and my home life is what led me to start my own business in 1998. I was never one of those people who dreamed of being an entrepreneur. In fact, for years people kept telling me I should start my own business, and I always said no. Until stress and burnout led me to it as a last resort. After years of struggling with balance, and the stress and chronic health issues that came along with it, I realized starting my own business might be a good solution. It would give me more control over my time and allow me to be home with my kids.
Some of the definitions of leadership that I've found: • The organisation of people to achieve a common goal • The action of leading a group of people or organisation • The process of social influence in which one person can enlist the aid and support of others in the accomplishment of a common goal
If you've ever been to a personal development seminar, or a free teleclass, or read a sales page for a program promising to teach you how to become more successful or make more money, odds are you've heard or read the following... • If you're not fully committed to your own success this program is NOT for you. • If you can't find the money then you really don't want it that badly. • You have to be willing to invest in yourself if you want to become successful. • If you want to succeed you have to be willing to do whatever it takes.
Recently, my cat Squeakers started losing a lot of weight. My husband and I took her to the vet, thinking that she was probably dying. We braced ourselves for the inevitable sad news only to find out that she had hyperthyroidism and just needed to take a pill. The vet said, "It looks like she'll get another one of those lives." Wouldn't that be nice? To get another life? Another chance? If you got another one, what would you do? Anything different? What if you can have anot
SPIRITUAL NARCISSISM by âAatmanumâ Okay! Let me start with literal meanings of Narcissism and Spiritual. Narcissism implies âhaving or showing an excessive interest in or admiration of oneself and oneâs physical appearance.â And Spiritual stands for something ârelating to or affecting the human spirit or soul as opposed to material or physical things.â Simply putting, spiritual narcissism is flaunting to have an expertise in spiritual experiences, practices, too
When you hear the words, inner peace, what do you think? Maybe the term conjures up images of a monk sitting in a cave at the top of a lonely mountain, or a group of people sitting in meditation for hours and hours a day. What’s it really mean, though. What is this elusive thing called “inner peace?” According to Wikipedia: “Inner peace (or peace of mind) refers to a state of being mentally and spiritually at peace, with enough knowledge and understanding to keep oneself strong in the face of discord or stress.”¹
I like to believe that most people are inherently good and are simply doing the best they can in the moment. Very often peoples’ actions are driven by fear or some other negative emotion, causing them to act in ways that feel difficult to us. And, we’re often quick to brand them as a difficult person. However, I’ve found that most times when we step back we find it’s not the person, but the situation, that’s difficult.
I was so wrongâ¦rnI was so wrong by â Aatmanumâ I was sinking in the deep, turbulent currents, looking desperately for a way out and you came bearing a torch. You showed me the direction to the calm waters, or so I thoughtâ¦but I was so wrong. You took me amidst the vast ocean and urged me to follow you as you were leading towards the deepest parts of this huge ocean (of knowledge). Without understanding which destination I wanted to reach, what I was looking for in the
No matter how much you have struggled with a particular matter, no matter how impossible it may seem to imagine life without this old wound, addiction, problem, relationship issue or inner struggle being part of it, you are guided now to accept the possibility of miraculous healing.
Yes, it's true, bad things happen to good people. But it's also true that... GOOD things happen to BAD people. And, BAD things happen to BAD people. And yes, even GOOD things happen to GOOD people. It's called life, folks.
Is anyone feeling a let-down or mini-depression after the holidays? Perhaps they were not all you expected them to be? To achieve a life of peace and grounded-ness, you must always come from the center. In light of the current U.S. holidays, however, you may find yourself feeling a little less than centered. Holidays and big events, if entered into with expectations of all of the joy and glory of a perfect Christmas card, or stories and images of an amazing New Year’s Eve experience, can sometimes cause tension and stress if not entered into reverently and mindfully.
Have you noticed that recently the luxury car companies are focusing a lot more on fun than luxury? As a former advertising executive (it actually feels like another lifetime!) I pay attention to advertising. And I've noticed a shift in the television commercials for several luxury car brands, namely Lexus and Mercedes. While they used to sell their cars as status symbols, and luxury indulgences, as something to aspire to, they aren’t focusing on that so much these days. Rather, their TV commercials focus on how fun these cars are to drive.
Family law is a branch of civil law that governs and organizes legal relationships between different members of the same family. Family law essentially defines two types of family ties: alliance ties (couples) and kinship ties (ascending and descending). Regarding alliance bonds, family law notably sets the rules relating to marriage, cohabitation and divorce. For example, it brings together the laws and regulations that govern the conditions and effects of marriage. Regardin
Busy Bee! Is what matters getting run over by other stuff? On the run. So many choices! Can you even tell anymore what’s more important? Even when you’ve got time, you’ve got demands on that time, right? What can you do to make today a bit easier? Simplify. That’s right. Simply simplify. Simplify because life gets complicated. Let’s look at how to simplify. What do you care about? Is that included somewhere in all that you’re doing? The importance of having steps planned
Boundaries can be considered our personal rules of engagement. They’re the limits or guidelines we use to indicate how we interact with others and how we will allow them to interact with us. Some of us have multiple layers of boundaries and some have a simple set. Still others have different boundaries depending on the type of relationship they have with someone. They might have very formal, strict boundaries with strangers while having more relaxed and informal boundaries with close friends and family.
As a coach, consultant, or other service professional, your marketing will work a lot harder for you if you establish a brand name, instead of simply doing business under your own name. You'll want to make sure the brand name you choose strategically represents the work you do or the products and services you sell, and you'll want to make sure no one else is already using the name. There are several, simple and free, web searches that anyone can do in just a few minutes, to learn if a potential business or brand name is already being used.
I was interviewed recently by The Oxford Student, the student newspaper at Oxford University in England. The interview quickly moved into a discussion about students and success. The student interviewer shared with me the pressure University students feel to strive for high grades and fill up their resumes with extracurricular activities in order to look attractive to potential employers upon graduation.
While we jokingly call it “cold, hard cash,” there’s nothing cold about it. It’s definitely an emotional substance, at least in terms of what it represents for most people. We’ve seen the television commercials showing Publisher’s Clearinghouse awarding million-dollar prizes to unsuspecting winners. They jump for joy. They smile from ear to ear. While we jokingly call it “cold, hard cash,” there’s nothing cold about it.
When we create an altar in our home or our garden we take the time to honor our intention to grow spiritually. An altar can be located anywhere in your home; it can be large or small, simple or elaborate. It is best if you place it in a quiet area where it won’t be disturbed. Well-intentioned friends may be attracted to the objects you have placed on your altar and automatically pick something up to admire. While you may love this friend dearly, you do not want your altar to
Growing up in South Florida, I heard this a lot from the northern transplants, the unhappy ones, at least.
While most of us don't like to think we're driven by money, the truth is we are. In a recent survey I conducted among 500 people, 70 percent reported that at least half of the decisions they make in their life are driven by money. Additionally, 55 percent said money played a large role in decisions about how to spend their time. How did we get this way?
