USA: Obesity and diabetes increase as Americans ignore dietary and health advice
There was a dramatic increase in the incidence of diabetes and obesity among the US population during the 1990s, but Americans are failing to address the problems by eating well and doing exercise, according to The Center for Disease Control (CDC).    Using data collected by the Behavioural Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS), which surveys adults over the age of 18 years, the CDC completed a study on the issue which is published in this week's Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA).

*** HEALTHY RECIPES -***
Chicken Casserole - Serves 2 

INGREDIENTS:
4 cups steamed cauliflower
1 cup steamed carrot slices
1 cup steamed snowpeas 
2 cups. chopped celery 
2 cups chopped mushrooms
1/2 cup chopped onion
1 cup chopped green pepper 
2 tsp. slivered almonds  
Salt/pepper to taste
12 oz. of boneless chicken 
1 tsp. garlic powder
1 tsp. low sodium soy sauce
2/3 tsp. olive oil 

Mix vegetables, seasonings, and almonds all together. Place into a casserole dish. 
Arrange boneless chicken on top. Drizzle olive oil over chicken mixture.
Bake 350 degree for 30 minutes.
