How much time and energy do you spend treading the proverbial waters of the stream of creative expression and meaningful experience? How often do you ride the roller coaster of two progressive steps forward and two steps back in your efforts to expand beyond your current unfulfilling comfort zone? What do 'over the rainbow' masterfully successful people have that you don't have? The answer is simple.

We human beings love stories. One of the all-time favorite themes is ‘The Hero’s Journey’. Adventure stories and lessons from fairy tales were, and still are, at the top of my list of favorite movies, books, and conversations. This is why movies like “The Hobbit,” “Lord of the Rings,” and even more contemporary movie settings in the ‘adventure’ genre are so popular. Too often we only live vicariously through the movies and lives of others. We see this journey in others, yet remain blind to our own personal hero or ‘shero’ journey.
We get used to things the way they are. Routine gives us a sense of security. And honestly, stability feels like a very good thing, because we don’t really like the uncertainty of change. We enjoy the safety that comes with things remaining the same. We know what’s coming and we like it that way. It feels familiar and comfortable. And we act and think as though it will forever be the same, as though nothing will ever change. And we like it that way. But stability is an illusion.r
"This above all; to thine own self be true." - William Shakespeare What is integrity? What does it mean to be in integrity? If you look up the word "integrity" in the dictionary you will learn that it comes from the Latin word, "integer" which means "whole". I can hear your thoughts… “What? Rocks in a backpack? Why that’s crazy! Makes no sense to carry heavy rocks around.” But you are, whether you know it or not. When you hold onto bad experiences from your past and use them as excuses for your actions, you my friend ARE carrying around rocks in your backpack! Want some examples? • My parents never taught me how to save money so I’m not good at budgeting my money. • Mom never hugged me or told me she loved me so I don’t know how to express my love for another person.r
I was not surprised to learn in recent interviews with Rabbi Shmuley Boteach, former close confidante to Michael Jackson, that Michael lost the will to live. He was embarrassed to go out in public. He had mutilated his face so much through unnecessary plastic surgery that he thought he looked like "a lizard". All of his face enhancement procedures were in a desperate desire to look like someone who could be loveable. The more he resisted his misguided feelings of inadequacy the more inadequate he felt about himself. "What you resist persists." – Carl Jung

Most of us have noticed how the week before we go on vacation seems to be brighter, happier, and how easy it is to handle all of life’s challenges when we’re about to head to the beach. And how dark and gloomy that last day of vacation can be knowing that tomorrow it’s back to life as usual. This is one of the fundamental concepts behind the Empowered Enterprises PowerPlan system, and the Balanced Living Timeline. When we create your Actio Plan, we create the future you want
Statistically speaking more people are afraid of public speaking than are afraid of death! I used to be one of these people. I can honestly say that there was a time in my life where I would rather have died than given a speech! My palms and other more visible and embarrassing areas would start sweating profusely, my legs would shake, and my heart would pound like rock song! All of that came on at the moment I found out I was going to have to speak in front of someone!
Levels of truth,rnI chose that way of putting it because truth is something that has many different levels. Weâve heard people refer to âhigher truth,â and so on and so forth. And thatâs true. There are higher truths and there are lower truths. There are the truths which weâre all used to. Thatâs where something is, what something is, who did what with what when. These are the levels of truth of the physical universe. Physical universe truths are all to do with mo
Nothing is impossible to the believer! Jesus was probably the first man who taught this mystical theory to the masses. Bible provides us with many instances of Jesus himself practicing the art of creative visualization and imaging, and using the law of attraction in the most astonishing way! ...
How do you feel about change? If you’re anything like me, you probably have mixed feelings about it. While it often depends on our perception of the type of change – big or small, good or bad, needed or unnecessary, easy or hard, etc. – most of us seek and fear change simultaneously.
It takes a lot of energy to remain on task when Murphy 's Law is in effect (Murphy's Law = whatever can go wrong, does). Having personally experienced this (repeatedly) over the years, I have been able to build muscle in this area and can now remain focused and keep moving forward, right through the storms. However, this didn't come easy, and I still find myself holding a holey umbrella now and then.
n I sat there stunned, looking down at my foot dangling from my leg, bent and broken, twisted and grotesque. It looked like a doll's foot or a horses hoof. How could this have happened! my mind screamed. My foot just slipped on gravel! I sat there fighting the fear and the nausea. It was ...
We are immersed in a storm of information turbulence daily, sometimes we really do not see the wood for the trees and increasingly the search for ‘silence’ permeates the mind but escapes like a wonderful dream lost.
Diversity as a consulting arena was not something I was attracted to historically—until now. I notice that it too often seems to be only representation, which is better than nothing, or somewhat anyway. Just to have physical bodies in a room is really not creating a culture of inclusion and innovation. I attended a “diversity and inclusion” corporate event last week and I am inspired to see that some people are starting to realize that personal individual growth will need to be addressed as well as structure change to create inclusion.
Do you often think you're just faking it. Not really making it? Do you worry that it's only a matter of time before everyone discovers you're a fraud? Ever want to crawl under the bed upon receiving even the slightest bit of criticism? Are you unable to move forward because you're feet are frozen in fear that you'll reveal the screw-up you really are? Do you think you just got lucky when something worked out right for you? If not, skip this article. You're doing just fine without it. Buh-bye. If so, you've got plenty of company.

Spreaders of malicious gossip, the workplace backstabbers spin wicked webs of emotional destruction, hunting down and trapping unwitting pawns in their incessantly evil games. Sometimes they can be overtly blunt, other times they're subtle and coy, gaining your trust and then turning the tables when you least expect it. They're a formidable force to be sure, but one that can be overcome if you stay calm and cool. Here are a few tips for keeping your backbone straight when the backstabber is on the prowl.
In the years of coaching and mentoring people, I have noticed that some people want to achieve their goals, yet they do not want to walk on the path to achievement. Yes, there is a path to achievement, and there are no detours from this path! The real winners in life are the ones who embrace the path to achievement, and know too well that this path is leading them to exactly where they want to be. They fully realise that this path will be a rocky road at times, that this path has got speed humps, and that this path may seem closed temporarily.
Self-criticism is pretty common as we are usually the worldâs number one experts on our own faults and shortcomings. However, continually sending ourselves self-hating messages which can be caused by self-criticism generally leads to misery more often than to motivation. It also leads to lower self-esteem and overall lower self-confidence. The 2 Different Types Of Self-Criticismrn An example of the two different types of self-criticism is when you see a piece of delicious c

Vulnerable and leadership are not usually two words or concepts we put together. Most of us, myself included, have been taught that to be a "good leader" we have to be strong, convicted, and confident. "Never let 'em see you sweat," we've been told. However, I believe it's time for those of us who want to inspire, motivate, and lead others to step into our role as a leader with transparency, honesty, and vulnerability. As Mother Teresa said, "Honesty and transparency make you vulnerable. Be honest and transparent anyway."
The article title asks an important question. The one you focus on has everything to do with not only your outcome but your experience reaching it.
My daughter is always suggesting new applications for my phone, so under protest I downloaded MapMyRun, one of a series of fitness apps. Being in my fifties and barely finishing 2.5km each run, my attitude has been to do it while I still can. Logging my performance was in the past, when I ran thirty miles per week, almost thirty years ago. A running app is fine if you’re training for a half marathon, like my daughter was my belief/story loop - and I almost stuck to it. Then another internal voice interrupted the conversation. Give the app a test run.
Have you ever felt or thought that you have got much more to offer to the world than what you currently do? Do you know what your potential and capabilities really are? Let me ask you another question, how well do you know yourself? While I consider myself a ‘full time student of life’, something that I spend a lot of time studying is me. Yes, you heard me right. I do invest time in studying myself. What do I mean by “studying myself?”
Money at its essence is energy. And it is the energy we have around money that shapes our fears, anxieties, desires, needs and insecurities. We all learned money lessons as children. The beliefs we took on for ourselves serve as the foundation of what become our money personality. And we all have a money personality.
I spent the first half of my life as a svelte size 8 the other half as very obese. In hindsight, unlike many people who have never known what it feels like to be thin, I know what being thin feels like, but I also know what being fat feels like. However what has always remained constant is that I have never felt good enough, even when I was thi I didn't feel thin enough, I guess my becoming fat was only going to be a matter of time.

The recent “Longevity Issue” of Time Magazine held great promise—an entire issue devoted to the joy of longevity, how great! Then I read the very first article title on the cover: “The Alzheimer’s Pill: A radical new drug that could change old age.” My heart sank. My excitement vanished. Once again, getting older was automatically associated with decline and dementia. Don’t misunderstand me: there are numerous individuals suffering with Alzheimer’s, and I am thrilled that th
I shaved my head again last week. This is the fourth time in the past five years I've done this. As has been the case for me before - it feels both liberating and vulnerable. My hair has been thinning for about ten years (most significantly in the past two or three) and, as I've written about a few times previously, this has caused me a great deal of fear, insecurity, and self criticism. These feelings are not new and aren't specifically related to my thinning hair (although it is definitely something that triggers them for me in an intense way).

It happens to all of us when we desire to fix, change, or shift something: we push when we could ride. What’s that really about? Years back, the guy cutting my hair told me about a conversation he’d had with a co-worker. She had complained that her father had used the push lawnmower on their acreage when he could have used the riding mower. He told her, “That’s how you live your life.”

I'm sometimes amazed and embarrassed by how critical I can be - both of other people and of myself. Even though I both teach and practice the power of appreciation (as well as acceptance, compassion, and more) when I find myself feeling scared, threatened, or insecure (which happens more often tha I'd like it to), I notice that I can be quite judgmental. Sadly, as I've learned throughout my life, being critical and judgmental never works, feels good, or leads me to what I truly want in my relationships and in my life. Can you relate to this?

Over the years, I have seen people coming in to see me with all kinds of issues and conce s. Not long ago, I saw a few clients coming in with a different kind of complaint. They were not so conce ed about themselves, but were worried about a dear friend or family member going through a critical illness. This particular woman stated that she wanted to be supportive for her friend, yet was conce ed about being too pushy or intrusive.she just wasn’t sure how to handle her involvement. First I told her how lucky her friend was to have such a kind and compassionate friend as she.

This is the time of year when people get off the proverbial treadmill of their workday world and allow themselves some time to reflect on the past year - what they accomplished, what they didn't, what was good, and what wasn't so great. Too often people feel like they've fallen short of their expectations of themselves and spend the time beating themselves up over mistakes, missed opportunities or what 'could have been'. Perhaps this is why many people fall into a bit of a depressed state at this time of year.
Surely, the mental energy you’re giving current (or old) issues is accomplishing something, right? It depends on if you’re thinking or processing. You, too, may appreciate this exchange betwee Bob Proctor and Leslie Householder when they met, before she wrote her first book that became a best-seller. He told her she was fairly balanced between right and left brain but was more of a creative type. She disagreed and informed him she was a math major, analytical, that she constantly thought about her life and everything (always in thinking mode). She admitted she was a processor.
Our country and our world is experiencing major financial chaos due to overspending and poor management. People are vocal and a relatively high percentage of them are sharing their desire to reduce spending and refrain from raising taxes, at least until we can get more balance in our economy. People want jobs and better income; it does take money to survive! The news headlines the debt and crisis mentality so it is always on our minds.
As a peace-loving Libra, I’m always looking for ways to minimize conflict, ways for us to get along better, regardless of our differences. So I was quite taken with a post a friend forwarded to me: “Explain your anger, don’t express it, and you will immediately open the door to solutions instead of arguments” (author unknown). Sounds nifty, doesn’t it? Defending or Explaining? But here’s the thing: most of us think we’re explaining our anger/upset, when what we’re really do
ou're obsessed. You're obsessed with your work, your craft. You think about your art, your character, painting, sculpture, upcoming tour, or screenplay seemingly every waking minute of every day. Heck, you even dream about it! This fiendish infatuation with your craft, the passion that drives you to get out of bed in the morning is a wonderful gift. Why is it, then, that this fixation on what makes the earth move for you can also stop you dead in your tracks? Cold. Left abandoned by the "What if's" or "I'm not enough's" or any version of "I can't because".
