Today we are faced with an inconvenient truth of life to battle with. It is about the lost of a friend, sister and wife - Debbie:

Debbie as we affectionately call her is a staunch member of our club. Indeed she is one of the few women who accompanies the husband to our meetings regularly. She does not just attend for attending sake but participates actively in all the activities of the club.

You would not be far from right to guess that her absence from our activities could be attributed to some pressing family demand or other tangible reasons. She was full of energy, vocal, friendly, exuberant, outgoing and ecstatic. It is also worthy to mention that she was fashionable and would not spare any expense to ensure that she always looked good.

So lively is Debbie that we are yet to come to terms with the fact that she is no more. If it had even crossed our sub conscious minds that such a thing could happen we still would have doubted it but here we are today to bury her when a few months back we were celebrating with her over the birth of her baby girl.

We say to our Lord:
Hold not thy peace, for the mouth of the wicked and the mouth of the deceitful are opened against us. They compassed us about with words of hatred and fought against us without a cause. They have rewarded us evil for good, and hatred for our love. When they shall be judged, let them be condemned and let their prayer become sin. Let their posterity be cut off and in the generation following let their names be blotted out.
We ask that you do this for us. This is because they remembered not to show mercy, but persecuted and slayed our friend, sister, wife, and mother - DERBY.

When you have a friend who cares so much about you that anything you want comes before her desires. When you have a sister who so understands that no matter what is bothering you she can make you smile. When you have a wife who no matter the obstacles she faces she is always confident in front of you. And when you have a mother who actively pursues her goals in life but includes you an all her goals. Thank you for being this kind of wonderful friend, sister and mother.

Challenging! Then came her day of rest 23 May 2008. Our way of life and our very joy came under attack in a deliberate, wicked way. Death played its dirty tricks on us. Derby’s life was snatched and we are left in pain, shock, surprise, and filled with disbelief, terrible sadness, and a quiet, unyielding sorrow.

Today, we ask for your prayers for all those who have grieve, for Jophiel and for the 3 wonderful kids whose worlds have been shattered; for all whose sense of safety and security has been threatened. And we pray they will be comforted by a power greater than any of us, as spoken through the ages in Psalm 23: "Even though we walk through the valley of the shadow of death, we fear no evil, for You are with us."

DEBBIE, MAY GOD KEEP YOU IN HIS BOSSOM TILL WE MEET AGAIN!
Thank you. And God bless us all.
