When you travel, security checkpoints at airports can be quite time-consuming and stressful, especially when you’re in a hurry. Here are some tips to help you quickly and easily pass through.
Come with your carry-on bags prepared when you travel. Currently, passengers are not allowed to take through more than 3 ounces of a liquid or gel through the checkpoint. The liquids and gels should be placed in a clear, quart size plastic bag inside your carry-on. Have this bag easily accessible so that you can place it on one of the trays when you go through security. (Certain foods, drinks, baby formula and medications over 3 ounces may be allowed through security checkpoints. Make the agents aware of these items before going through to ease the process.)
When you travel by plane, wear shoes that you can easily remove and put back on. Consider carrying an extra plastic bag with you that you can throw in your keys, wallet, cell phone, and anything extra you have in your pockets when you pass through security. These important items are altogether in the bag and can’t accidentally be lost, forgotten, or mixed up. Have your photo identification and ticket ready to show the agents when passing through security.
Clear Cards are now available for purchase at 18 airports. These cards allow you to move ahead to the front of the line when you pass through security checkpoints at airports, instead of waiting in the long lines. The security check is the same, but the maximum wait time with this card is 5 minutes. The clear card costs $128. To purchase one, you must go to an airport that currently accepts the card. There, the computer scans your finger prints, eyes and takes a picture. This information is sent to the Department of Homeland Security and they mail you your clear card within about two weeks. The 18 airports currently accepting the clear card are:
1.Reno Tahoe International Airport
2.San Francisco International Airport
3.Oakland International Airport
4.Norman Y. Mineta San Jose International Airport
5.Salt Lake City International Airport
6.Denver International Airport
7.Indianapolis International Airport

The Clear Card will soon be accepted at Los Angeles International Airport and Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.
If you travel a lot and the airports you most commonly travel to accept the clear card, consider purchasing one to shorten the wait time when you go through security. If not, try the other tips to ease the process and reduce stress the when you travel.
