This is a true story about becoming the person you see yourself to be, and how you can change your identity if you'd like.

It's about a woman - we'll call her Cindy, but I have no memory of what her name actually was - who bought nutrition and weight loss products from us years ago at the beginning of our network marketing career. She came to our house in one of those handicapped vans that give free rides to the disabled. She was very pleasant and morbidly obese. In fact, she brought us a potted plant and picture of herself in the hospital surrounded by doctors for some procedure she had undergone. We talked about her whole medical history - very extensive - and how she could get well.

We kind of knew something was up, but didn't have the clarity to know what was what. She bought some good quality nutrition and weight loss stuff. We were all really enthusiastic about the progress Cindy was going to make. We made arrangements to consult with her the next day as she began using the products.

We heard from Cindy once, though little of it had to do with the actual products. If I remember correctly she talked about some other condition she was experiencing. It had nothing to do with her weight loss journey. Then we didn't hear from her again.

As I said, it took a little while to figure out what was up. Once we had more experience putting people on the products and coaching them in their journey it became a lot more apparent what was going on.

Cindy saw herself as sick. It was her identity. She was a perpetual patient, and she enjoyed the role tremendously. It gave her an identity. It gave her a place in the world. And it gave her attention, something we crave, even if we're reluctantly to admit it.

Given the choice of being sick but "safe" or being well but having to build a new life, Cindy went back to what she knew.

NOW, let's talk about you...

There is a whole world of possibilities waiting for you. You have the capacity to well, healthy, rich, loved and in love, fulfilled in every sense of the word. There are NO outside circumstances strong enough to hold you back from building toward an incredibly wonderful life situation.

The only thing holding you back is the identity you cling to. How you define yourself becomes who you are. You are a product of your own thoughts. Nothing more.

And that's not a judgment. You may have good reason to stay where you are. If so, God Bless.

And you may be experiencing the discomfort of your current role but fearful of trying on a new identity. If that's the case, think about what's on the other side of that fear. Discomfort, for sure. Uncertainty, risk.

And glory. The thrill of trying something new. The delicious, delightful discomfort.

The friends and sacred souls you meet when you step out of your comfort zone. People you knew, but didn't really know. And new friends, ready and eager to build their lives right along with you.

Gather your courage. Toss out the self-image that holds you in emotional slavery. Be the REAL you.
