The quality of any mobile app predominantly depends upon its user experience. It can literally make or break any mobile app. If the user feels the app is confusing, complicated or if it doesn’t appeal or engage them then surely the UX is poor which indirectly is affecting the quality of the app. No person is interested or probably even bothered to dedicate their time in learning the application. It should be simple and clear, then only it will appeal to the users. This is attainable only with perfect UX design.

UX design in mobile app development should be the top priority for more intuitive, useful and engaging experience. There are some key principles which needs to be followed for developing powerful UX. Though there are many principles, we have listed down the ones which are prime and essentially has to be followed.

Clutter-free app

Pay attention! It’s small screen, respect it, don’t choke it. Overloading the interface will only cause clutter. Get rid of all the content and elements that is absolutely unnecessary. Clutter-free apps are easy to use, clear and makes user’s journey smooth. The app should be designed to the point without migrating the user to unnecessary information. With state-of-the-art features and easy controls, you are likely to develop clutter-free mobile application.

Flawless navigation

Without a doubt, navigation is top-priority in any mobile app. Powerful navigation guides the users to follow the right path and reach the destination, effortlessly. Navigation should be minimal but understandable. Maintain uniformity on each page. Designing navigation is not that simple for mobile apps as the screen size is restricted. However the rule of thumb for designing mobile app is to let the users know where they are and how to reach their destination.

Finger-friendly touch targets

Though the screen is small, the action buttons should be big enough to get clicked easily. Smaller touch targets are difficult to hit which results in failed action. User’s finger should efficiently fit inside the tap target. The button or the tap target should be accessible also for users with fat fingers.

Legible text

It’s quite evident that smartphone screens are much smaller than desktops so fitting the content on small screen can be challenging. If the text is too small, it becomes a problem for reading and hampers user experience. According to experts, the font size recommended for mobile app is between 11 and 17 points. A line should not have too many words as it will affect the reading. Break the sentence as possible. Do not fit in all the information, only focus on content which is necessary.

Don’t ask to type much

Constant typing while chatting with friends is usually fun but typing information on mobile apps is absolutely boring. People are reluctant to type too much on mobile apps as compared to desktops. Typing on mobile is not only slow but error-prone too. So cut-down unnecessary typing by reducing form size or offering auto-fill option.

Evoke emotions

If you want to engage your potential customers in real sense then strive to appeal them by evoking right emotions. Even this is a part of user experience. Design app that create moments or evoke happiness as positive approach leads to positive action.

Simply get started with these key principles and create an easy-to-use mobile interface that improves user experience.
