Cupping is an ancient alternative treatment, which used to be practised in Egypt several decades ago. Cupping was used to treat severe diseases such as bronchitis, pneumonia, asthma, and cold.

Recently, Cupping therapy is widely used to minimize the circulation of toxins, release muscle knots, detox, to treat back or joint pain, increase blood circulation and relaxation.

There are 3 different kinds of cupping:

Fire cupping: Flaming ball of cotton is used to create vacuum in the cup.

Dry cupping: Flammable Substance such as alcohol, herbs are allowed to burn which creates vacuum.

Wet cupping: Soon after the cup is removed, a small incision is made in the area which was sucked to draw out a small amount of blood. This helps in detox, it is also considered to be the most beneficial method of cupping.

How it works?

Cups of various materials such as glass, silicon, rubber, and bamboo are used depending on the type of treatment. The cups are held on the skin for up to 3 mins, which creates suction that draws the body tissue upward, expanding the blood vessels that promote blood circulation.

The silicone cup can be moved to various parts of the body which gives a sensation of deep tissue massage.

A new method of cupping is being introduced wherein acupuncture is combined with cupping to give maximum results, it's called “needle cupping”

The soreness caused due to cupping can last up to 10 days, the skin returns to normal within weeks of therapy.
