Nebulizers or breathing machines are often preferred by parents and doctors at it provide them with an easier way to administer medication to their children or patient especially if they are toddlers or infants. Nebulizers only require the patient to breathe normally until the medication is gone. Because of this simple procedure, many people prefer using a nebulizer instead of dry powered inhalers or metered dose inhalers.

Ultrasonic nebulizers are compact, portable and battery operated nebulizers that do not need saline mixed with the medication. It also functions faster than any nebulizers do and there is less noise compared to other machines. It does not have a compressor but uses ultrasonic waves to aerosolize the medication.

Jet Nebulizers are less expensive and easier to use. The nebulizers use compressed air to provide a fine mist from the medication. There is usually a plastic cup that holds the liquid medication and air passes through the tube because of the compressor. Jet nebulizers often need electricity to work that is why it is not intended for travels. Old models of Jet nebulizers are also bigger in size and are generally noisy.

Mesh Nebulizers are the fastest of all nebulizers and it is more expensive than others are. It uses a vibrating membrane to produce an aerosol spray from the liquid medication. It also comes in a portable and compact body that is perfect for travels. It is also battery operated, however, it should be cleaned regularly in order to prevent blockage from the small openings where the mist is released.

There are different nebulizers people can choose from in order to satisfy their needs. Parents and doctors can choose a nebulizer that is fit for their patients depending on the medication needed, cost, patient’s preference, and if it will be used for travels or just inside the house. Nebulizers are the easiest way to administer liquid medication for patients especially for toddlers and infants.
