At some time in their life everyone has been plagued with dandruff, some more than others. Dandruff is a fungal scalp infection and can be a very embarrassing condition as the flakes of dandruff can stick to your clothes, hair, and scalp along with causing an itchy scalp. It is a medical condition that often does not respond to chemical treatments but when you use aloe Vera it can have a long-lasting effect at keeping this fungal scalp infection at bay. Aloe Vera is known to have antifungal and antibacterial properties along with helping moisturize your scalp.

When using aloe Vera for dandruff you can either use a commercial aloe Vera gel or use the natural extract. If you are using the natural extract you need to slice a piece of the leaf in half, squeeze out the gel and then use the leaf to help spread the gel over your scalp, massaging it in. Your hair should be wet but not washed with shampoo either before or after you use the aloe Vera gel. You may need to use more than one leaf because you want to make sure that you are covering your entire scalp. Let it remain on for forty-five to sixty minutes and then wash it out using cold or warm water. It is safe to use this gel two to three times a week. On the days you are not using the gel you should use a mild or herbal shampoo to wash your hair.

Here are two oils that you can also mix with aloe Vera to help with your dandruff problem.

• Eucalyptus oil—by itself this oil is known to have medicinal properties and when combining it with aloe Vera you are getting twice the medicinal properties for your case of dandruff. Mix the oil with aloe Vera gel or extract to make a paste and then massage the paste into your scalp. Because of the minty properties of the eucalyptus leaves you may notice that your scalp is stinging slightly but that is normal. Leave the paste on your scalp for sixty minutes and wash it out with cold to warm water. You will not need to use shampoo after this treatment.

• Tea tree oil—tea tree oil is also good for dandruff as the medicinal properties has an amazing potential to kill not only fungal infections but also viral and bacterial infections. Mix aloe Vera gel with a few drops of the tea oil but make sure that you do not use the tea oil directly on your scalp as it is very potent and can cause a strong stinging feeling. You should use this mixture three times a week making sure that you do not use a shampoo when using this remedy. Within a few days you will see that the dandruff has been reduced considerably or may have even disappeared. When using this remedy massage the mixture into your scalp, leave on for at least thirty minutes, and then wash out with cold to warm water.
