Believe it or not, a fancied up blog can help make your web business more money. What kind and fancies am I talking about? Let's go over a few small things that can make your blog exciting and more interactive to your visitors.
The first thing someone sees on your blog is the header. Does your header graphic reflect the feel of your business and products? It should ever so gently convey the message that you are setting forth in your blog and match the kind of artwork that you are promoting. Most blog themes come with a stock header, but it is probably not suited to your business. Also, pick a domain name that reflects your business and helps brand it.
Videos and multimedia like MP3's and podcasts generate interest in the reader and actually keeps them on the site longer. Longer visits (called "stickiness) helps the blog get better search engine positioning. Videos can convey and promote your artwork better than most consumer items for sale on the Internet because of the visual nature of art whether it be paintings or jewelry.
RSS feeds and sign up boxes are a must for building a fan base to market to. Don't expect that just because a visitor loved your blog that they will remember to come back. Make it easy for them to find your posts by adding a subscribe form so your posts will be emailed to them instead. Entice readers to sign up by giving away a freebie such as an ebook or special report.
Putting these things in place will make your blog more exciting. And for most of this stuff, you only have to do it once and it's done. All you have to do is post on a regular basis. Learning the secrets and techniques to successful blogging is easy if you know where to look!
