Buying caravan is a great investment, no matter if you are buying new or used caravans. Being an asset to your property, there is no room for neglecting its maintenance, especially if you have used caravan. Used caravans need more attention than the new ones and the best way to do this is to service it every year. This will keep your brakes, running gear and lights perfectly in operational condition.

The process of servicing involves checking and maintenance of everything in the habitation side of the used caravan, be it gas, water, electrical and heating appliances. The servicing mechanics are also responsible for ensuring leaks or damps in the basic structure of the used caravans. For servicing, it is always worth to get caravan’s servicing done from standard workshop. The benefit of such workshop is that they are equipped with standard facilities and well-trained technicians.

Apart from servicing, you need to maintain your caravan even when it is in your garage and not in use. Below are the steps you must follow to maximize your used caravan’s life:

  • Start with windows and doors of the used caravans. Open and shut every windowpane of the windows, doors and even cupboards to check if there is any sign of damage, like cracks or pools of moisture.
  • In case, you are not using it for quite some time, you would need to recharge the battery of caravan before taking away for trips. Also, do not forget to test if battery is functioning properly so that you get enough time to replace if needed.
  • Never underestimate the testing of tires as overlooking it may push you in the risk of fighting off punctured tire at the mid of the road. Therefore, it is better to be vigilant and catch the signs of damage in the tire, like cracks and uneven bulges. Replace them immediately, if you suspect any of them.
  • Testing the light fittings is another minor yet important thing to do. It is quite easy as you can do it by connecting all the appliances and switching on all the electric items.
  • It is important to ensure that your hand break is working appropriately, especially if you have not used the vehicle for some time. Until and unless it is working fine you will not be able to park it in sloppy area.
  • Water storage system often becomes a habitat of bacteria and fungus if not been in use for prolong period. So, clean out the system regularly.
