Empower yourself by controlling your anger before it control you
Anger simply is an emotion signal send to you when negative or unfavorable events fall upon you and this happen too often in our daily life, either personal life or at work. Do you know what will be the consequence if you have this destructive state of mind? I will share with you a story that give you a clearer view and better understanding why controlling our anger is important.

The story of the nail in the fence

Once upon a time, there was a little boy, named Paul who had a terrible bad temper. His father handed him a bag of nails and instructed him to hammer and drive a nail into the back of the fence in his backyard whenever he lost his temper. True enough, on the first day, 40 nails were driven into the fence, but eventually after a few weeks, Paul discovered that controlling his temper is easier than hammering the nail, so he stopped, so the number of nails reduced.

Then one fine day, Paul went to look for his father to tell him that he no longer lose his temper at all, and his father instructed him again to pull out a nail if he can control his temper for a day. See the difference… Paul has to hammer a nail every time he lose his temper, he can only pull out ONE nail per day if he can control his temper for a day.

The days passed and the day finally comes when the fence is now free of nails, Paul happily inform his father about it. His father took him to the fence and said to him, “Son, you have done a good job, but look at the holes created in the fence. The fence will never be the same so when you say things in anger, they will definitely leave a scar just like this one. You can stab a knife in a man and draw it out. It won’t matter how many times you apologize, the wound is still there. A broken mirror still has cracks even after repair, just like a relationship” A verbal wound is considered as bad as a physical one. —end of story

Now, let’s look back and ponder upon how many holes have we left in our life and other people life. Take this story as a self empowerment guidance to better control your anger in order not to create further holes in your life.
