Sharing a Few Thoughts on Working Towards Peace... at least a More Peaceful World

Just sharing a few "rather deep" thoughts, as I ponder the current state of the world . . . and what can be done . . . possibly!!!

Religion is often blamed as the cause of many conflicts around the globe; whereas I believe, it's rather people misusing religion. As a result, I believe it's important to emphasize the common values shared by religions to reduce tensions between different groups with differing beliefs.

Religion can be turned around from being part of a conflict to become a vital part of the solution.

Instead of focussing on differences, we should focus far more on what we have in common, our shared humanity.

Efforts to generate a sustainable culture of peace must be rooted deeply amongst the population...in the hearts of people . . .

Taking the first step is education in preparation FOR peace . EDUCATION of the people is a fundamental element of this TRANSFORMATION.

Peacemaking is central to the portrayal of Jesus in the Christian faith. Jesus's life and teaching and his resurrection symbolise the triumph of love and peace over the forces of fear, violence and oppression. His resurrection symbolizes the hope of NEW life, together with the values of justice, truth and especially Grace. At an individual level it is the transformation of individual lives into the divine nature and enabled 'ordinary' (what's that?) people to be more like Christ Himself.

In our own small way, each ONE of us CAN do "extraordinary" things, like working for reconcilation and justice by doing the most good in our individual lives ... and so be "champions of peace" in a current world of turmoil with many wars around the globe.

WE, YOU can herald in a NEW AGE: one of RESPONSIBILITY (personal), ACCOUNTABILITY, JUSTICE, TRUTH and especially God's Infinite Grace.

A time for a more peaceful world is TODAY... right NOW!

"Peace is the greatest weapon for development that any people can have."

- Nelson Mandela , an 'icon of magnanimity and generosity of spirit'

"There are many causes I am prepared to die for; but no causes I am prepared to kill for."

- Mahatma Gandhi

Remember the wise words of Solomon in Ecclesiastes 3

"There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven:

a time to be born and a time to die

a time to plant and a time to uproot ,

a time to kill and a time to heal,

a time to tear down and a time to build,

a time to weep and a time to laugh,

a time to mourn and a time to dance,

a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,

a time to embrace and a time to refrain,

a time to search and a time to give up,

a time to keep and a time to throw away,

a time to tear and a time to mend,

a time to be silent and a time to speak,

a time to love and a time to hate,

a time for war and a time for peace."

About the submitter:

Craig likes (no loves) to share information and insights to encourage others to be all they are capable of being (without being too serious and with "dashes" of humour). He'd love to try to 'build bridges' (not wooden or metal ones, thank goodness!) between people, firmly believing that what we share is way more important than what divides us. He truly believes in the great potential of people and their humanity to make a better and more peaceful world.

"I see no Muslim, Christian, Hindu, Buddhist or Jew... but simply and only a God-filled humanity."

"Let each one of us build bridges rather than barriers, openness rather than walls. Let us look at distant horizons together in a spirit of acceptance, helpfulness, co-operation and peace. Let our leaders look at the future with a vision - to see things not as they are, but what they could one day become."

"When people's hearts are filled with love, the world is full of hope"

- craig

"Blessed are the peace-makers... because they'll inherit plenty of Frequent Flyer Points."

"Together, one mind, one soul at a time, let's see how many people we can impact, empower, encourage and perhaps even inspire to reach their fullest potentials. Change YOUR world and you help change THE world."
