We all dread the day we see those first fine lines starting to appear because we know these are amongst the first signs of aging, and we also know that in the not too far distant future, those fine lines are going to become full blown wrinkles. If only it stopped there, but as any elderly person can attest to, lines and wrinkles are only the beginning.

Now, nobody is saying you have to welcome the arrival of fine lines, but rather than becoming suicidal, try to see them as a small gift of nature. While this may seem impossible, one needs to accept the reality that nobody can stay young forever, and when those line start appearing, it's Mother Nature's way of letting us know time is catching up with us, and this also means that issues such as aching joints are just around the corner.

Knowing that it's just a matter of time, we have an opportunity to take action before it's too late. This is particularly true if we've been neglecting our bodies for some time, but even if you've lived a very healthy life, now is the time to put in a little extra effort. For example, you need to examine your current eating habits. Are you getting all the vitamins and minerals your body needs? Does your diet include plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables? These are exceptionally high in antioxidants, and as you may well already know, antioxidants are the body's primary defense against free radicals. Not only are free radicals responsible for premature aging of the skin, but they are also largely to blame for illnesses such as cancer and etc.

Apart from fruits and vegetables, you also need to make sure your diet contain sufficient lean protein. This is perhaps one of the biggest challenges for vegetarians since lean meats are undeniably the best source of lean protein. Proteins are essential for people of all ages since they're the building blocks for muscle, but if you're experiencing signs of aging, then you need to make 100% certain you're getting all the protein you need.

Your diet should also include at least a few portions of oily fish each week. Oily fish such as salmon, mackerel, tuna, and sardines, are all rich in Omega 3 fatty oils. These are often referred to as being "heart healthy" oils, and not without good reason. Clinical studies have shown that Omega 3 fatty oils can lower cholesterol, ease joint pain, strengthen the heart, and also improve the condition of one's skin. Unfortunately, studies have also shown that the vast majority of people don't get a sufficient amount of these oils in their diets, so it's often recommended that one takes a good quality Omega-3/DHA Fish Oil supplement.

Not only are those wrinkles telling us to watch our diet, but they're also telling us to get out and about more often. That's right, even though many people would prefer not to think about it, physical exercise is an absolute necessity, and even more so as we start to age. Regular exercise can significantly delay the onset of several age related health problems, including aching joints. Regular activity also helps to keep the immune system functioning properly, it helps to improve memory, it strengthens the heart and lungs, it keeps muscle from wasting away, and it also helps to improve balance, thereby minimizing the risk of fall related injuries.

The market is awash with products which claim to fight the signs of aging, but as is to be expected, many of them are simply useless, and unless you're willing to do some research, you'll just end up wasting your money. When buying dietary supplements, it's vital you only buy good quality supplements, preferably manufactured by a company that specializes entirely in natural health care products. The exact same principle applies when purchasing skin care products. To end off - chemicals have been responsible for millions of deaths over the years, so it's safe to say that if a company bases their products on the use of chemicals, they certainly don't take the health and safety of consumers very seriously.
