THINKIATRY & MY HAPPIER LIFE!

Thinkiatry’s Principles and Process are the result more than 30 years of my personal struggle to find more happiness and contentment in my life each day.

After several years of study and practice my emotional life has changed dramatically and I use Thinkiatry’s Principles and Process many times each day to ensure my own healthy psychological functioning and happiness.

As I became a confident Thinkiatrist (a disciple of Thinkiatry) I spent two years observing countless others in their daily behavior and relationships. I concluded that most of us have become victims, as I did, of their own unique habitual thought systems. A system which allows the negative thoughts and opinions we have accumulated throughout our lives to control our thinking, emotional health, and our level of happiness each day.

How many generally unhappy people do you deal with each day at work, at home, while shopping, while driving, on the nightly news, and so on? Yet, Thinkiatry’s Principles and Process have proven our level of happiness lies hidden beneath our generally accepted “just the way life is” chronic habitual negative thinking.

Thinkiatry’s 1st Principle is thinking, the way we think. This Principle taught me several things I had, like you, never considered or even thought about. First, contrary to popular belief, my thoughts are not real unless I choose to make them reality. A perfect example is Stress: stress does not really exist, but stressful thinking does and creates our emotional distress. In my opinion, stress is merely a socially accepted form of mental dysfunction that “stressed out” people create within their own minds and truly believe is real.

Second, I learned that I could actually “watch what I think” and choose which thoughts to follow or let fade away to my trash bin because they were negative. Negative thoughts serve no useful purpose in our lives, but lead to all known forms of human emotional distress.

Thinkiatry’s 2nd Principle is Feelings – I learned my feelings are a navigational tool that let me know if my thinking is getting off track. If I do allow negative thoughts to pass my first line of defense I instantly feel the effects and I am reminded that negative thoughts will only lead to distress and Thinkiatry’s 3rd Principle Moods. With practice, I have virtually eliminated mood swings because I typically never let negative thoughts get past my feelings, low moods now only rarely occur.

For years, the relationships in my life were troubled and the source of frustration, low self-esteem, and disappointment. I had no control over my negative thinking, stuttered and I felt rejected when others did not agree or shunned my thinking. My stuttering and low self-esteem compounded my negative thinking and resulting emotions. Thinkiatry’s 4th Principle – Separate Realities taught me that each of us has our own unique reality comprised of thoughts, experience, and opinions accumulated throughout our lives. No two people can possibly think the same way and that’s OK. This Principle has taught me not to expect others to think like I do. I now appreciate and respect another’s unique separate reality leading to interesting and more meaningful relationships with my wife of 29 years, my 4 grown children, extended family, co-workers and others I meet each day.

The first 4 self-therapy Principles now allow me to eliminate virtually all of my habitual negative thinking each day. Without negative thoughts anxiety, stress, depression and so on cannot exist, and my emotional life changed dramatically. My happiness is no longer buried beneath years of chronic negative thoughts and the emotional distress they create.

Without negative thoughts and the accompanying relationship and life drama I am free to be happy most of the time. The first four Principles have prepared me to achieve one of life’s most important spiritual goals and Thinkiatry’s 5th Principle – Life in the moment.

In closing, this video is meant to educate and motivate you for further study. Simply reading my words will not change your emotional life. The Principles must be taught and diligently practiced – repetition is the mother of all learning.
