PCBs are like the backbone of any gadget. With so many electronic devices in use, PCB or Printed Circuit Boards need to be examined for their quality standards specified by IPC-A-610; but how does one go about examining them? Do you know that there is a specific strategy to examine circuit boards throughout the design, manufacturing, and assembly processes?

Inspect a PCB by checking whether the board's thickness is correct. You also need to see if it has rough, bent, or twisted out-of-shape surfaces. Check for conductive pathways that are clear and consistent across all pads. Make sure not more than two pad connections are made due to excessive solder application - this is called Solder Bridging. Next, you'll want to measure the dimensions of an assembly against its predetermined specifications in IPC-A-610 (International Plastics Code). Read this infographic to know the top five tips for PCB inspection that you learn in the PCB inspection course.
