I received Advanced Hypnotherapy Certification from the Hypnotism Training Institute of San Diego in 1989 after first completing their Basic Hypnotism course in 1988.(HTI was approved by the Superintendent of SD Schools for continuing education credits and certification. Beware of the one day diploma mills.)
I worked as a hypnotherapist in the spa at the Kent Womans Fitness Club with members and general public. The most frequent requests were for weight loss, quitting smoking and confidence building.
I relocated to Encinitas CA in 1995 and had a private practice there. Along with the issues mentioned above, I worked with phobias, past life regression, stress, job interviews, anger control, memory, panic attacks and pain management including childbirth.
I left my California beach front cottage in 1998 and returned to Hartford, Connecticut to care for my aging parents and made use of a lot of the meditation, relaxation and positive attitude techniques I'd been teaching since 1971.

Recent scientific research is proving the mind is connected in creating and eliminating physical problems. Also in creating what we experience as reality.
Physicians can fix the body but the mind can create the situation again. This is why adding the mind to a health program is the optimum method for total healing.
Hypnosis, meditation and visualization enable you to communicate with your physical body, to relax mental and muscle tension even regulate autonomous body systems.
Documentation has been out for years that meditation masters can control their heart rate and body temperature. Perhaps we will never need to use body heat to dry wet robes in frigid weather but being in peaceful control of ourselves mentally and physically is an ideal goal.
Hypnosis is my favorite method for making changes happen easily and effortlessly. From weight loss to quitting smoking I've seen dramatic successful results.
Quite frequently the hypnosis sessions yielded so much more than was expected by both the client and myself. In session after session I observed the ability the mind has to use imagery to heal and fix problems.
I realized that in a relaxed state, clients would have imagery come to them that was symbolic of what their problem needed. This was very potent because areas of stress could be worked on indirectly through analogies.
The client would get imagery that was perfectly on target. All I had to do was help them reach a relaxed state, ask client what they saw, heard and or felt, then use their own imagery for what their session was dealing with.
Deep, slow breathing is the first step to being relaxed and will help you achieve self-hypnosis, meditation and visualization. (Meditation and visualization access the sub-conscious mind in a manner similar to hypnosis.)
There are hundreds of breathing exercises. Find one or several that suit you. Deep breathing raises blood oxygen levels which aids mental performance and ironically also quiets the mind.
As you practice relaxing your body consciously, eventually you will find you are able to stay relaxed during the rest of the day.
