Jack Lalanne discusses "sugarholics." Are you addicted to sugar?

There are so many natural alternatives to sugar and they taste wonderful. I love doing my own baking and use honey, agave nectar, maple syrup or applesauce. Fruit is another natural choice. Once you start eating these, you'll love them. You also want to stay away from artificial sweeteners as those have worst side effects than white sugar.
How can we help but be sugarholics? They dump the stuff in almost everything we eat. I'm trying to cut it out of my diet, a mission that approaches impossibility. My craving for desserts is being met by cocoanut, papaya spears, and fruit. I still want cookies etc. but the will power is keeping those desires at bay. I feel better already and I've only been doing this for a month.
Jack Lalanne is "the pioneer" of the present health-fitness movement in America. If we would have heeded these words over 30 years ago, a lot of lives could have been saved.
The longest journey starts with the first step. Eating healthy is a change in your over all eating habits not a fad diet.

What a classic! And the message doesn't change, just the technology used to get it across. Dusty chalkboard vs. flashy powerpoint? Either way, then or now, too much refined sugar, in it's many guises, is not healthy.
I am a "reformed sugarholic!" The natural sweetener called Stevia is a perfect, healthy replacement that is becoming more known. It can be purchased in liquid (drops), granular and even in individual little packets like other sugar replacements.
Hi Jeanne, I mainly use the liquid, too. There's a "faux stevia" on the market, too, that starts with a T. Since I'm no expert, I don't want to slam another product, but it has enough stevia in it to be advertised as natural, but it's not really because of fillers.
I make this awesome lemonade with fresh squeezed lemons and stevia. It is so refreshing and healthy, too!
Thanks for the comment...hope you're having a great day!
I agree - I really enjoy the liquid Stevia and it is wonderful to have such an easy and healthy replacement for sugar! It is really important to look for those closest to nature, since so many companies now process stevia so much it is as unhealthy as white sugar! - so if it has the nutritional values of the original Stevia plant, it is really wonderful. Fresh squeezed lemons and stevia.... mmmm, love it too! Diana
I love his non-nonsense approach!
I have to admit I was addicted to sugar and chocolate but now make my own - raw chocolate - no sugar or diary....yum and it's good for you!
